Marketing may promote a great work culture and environment, however it is a different story once you start working there. There is very little training that is given resulting in poor quality work and increased issues within the building. Communication is almost non-existent creating a culture of no trust and you never know what is going on. Turnover is high with staff and managers, people never stick around after realizing how unprofessional management are and how they allow misconduct on a regular basis because they dont want their employees to quit. 
Corporate is a joke due to lack of communication, professionalism and their lack of ability to care about employees. The only thing they care about is growing the company and receiving their large paychecks and it is apparent in the culture within the company. 
Upper management and HR show no support or care about the employees and constantly act like your a nuisance to them. They are hard to get a hold of which causes a lot of frustration.
This company could be great if they stood by their values and created a positive company culture, however it seems that the only thing they care about is money. They will tell you how amazing it is to work for the company, but once you start you will realize how awful it is and start looking for a new job. The only good thing about working at Balfour is the residents who reside there. They are amazing people and a joy to work with.  There are employees who truly do enjoy providing care to the residents, its just unfortunate that the company cant get it together to provide a good work place. I worked there for a couple years and am glad to finally move on and would never consider going back.

The management is very childlike. It’s a lot of favoritism that plays in the role if you’re a caregiver because of the particular person that is over, the care team is all about favorites so it makes your job really hard if they don’t like you because if they don’t like you they’re gonna be nitpicking and picking on you And then turn around and try to be your friend and then turn around and write you up if you have medical problems. No worklife balance at all once you start working there, it becomes your whole entire life. They are very short staffed so you’re picking up shifts for them because they don’t have enough people because they don’t treat people the right way and it makes them leave. We don’t get breaks and if we do get breaks if we go and clock out for our 30 minute break, there’s not enough people on the floor for us to do that so we’re literally going to clock out and lying and saying we’re taking a break and we’re not taking a break because there’s not enough people on the floor to take care of the elders in the senior living And we’ve told management over and over and over again and they don’t care. They want us to take our breaks so that they don’t get in trouble. They don’t care about the elderly they leave pills in their rooms full cups. People find them on the next shift trashes people don’t give the elderly showers a lot. They leave their rooms destroyed. it’s just too much, and only certain people are held accountable not The favorites

What is the best part of working at the company?
The residents are amazing, most of the care partners are more then willing to go the extra mile an help each other out. Most of the management is friendly an understanding.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some people don't do there part. An some of the resident that are in AL belong in MC. Or a skilled facility  but they don't move them 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly friendly an they make sure alot of different cultures are added into the activity's or dinning experience 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy busy in the morning till after breakfast. Then it gets slower till lunch time after lunch untill dinner there's alot of down time not alot to do an at dinner an after it gets real busy again

Don’t work here. This place is always understaffed and will have you worked to the bone. You can have a family emergency or even be sick/injured, and they still expect you to come in for your scheduled shift unless you find your own coverage through other overworked employees. Management is also not the best. It’s also worth mentioning that you’re never paid properly either and won’t ever hear back from payroll on why your paycheck isn’t correct. And of course, the workplace is very, very toxic. There’s always drama, as well as coworkers putting you down 24/7. People will always have something to complain about and will try to say you didn’t do your job.

Overall very, very horrible work experience.

During a typical work day, I would write menus for the week, prep up to three days ahead, and help my staff along with difficulties they may have. I learned more about budget, working alongside people new to the trade, and employees of every age. Management was great. They accommodated me in every reasonable need. I often asked for new foods for the menus and they were willing to help in any way. The hardest part of the job was making sure everyone was happy, but at the same time, making sure things got done properly. I think I did really well helping new employees with all of their needs. The most enjoyable part of the job is the people. I meet a new face everyday. Since I am currently working with the senior population, listening to their stories was a huge part of my day. I loved every minute of it.

I really liked this job. You had to wear a uniform. Being on time is really important. I learned a lot about Dementia and Alzheimer's disease, how to prevent trips and falls. Since I was a server, I had to remember the all the residents' names. You had to know who was allergic to what. Management was kept tight. Communication flowed in between the servers, nurses and concierge. The employees were from many different ethnic backgrounds. The hardest part of the job is making sure that the residents are well and are happy with what and where they are without letting them do something they want to do but could possibly injure them. The most enjoyable part of the job is listening and getting to know the residents and hear their background and the stories they have to share.   

Creating programs and leading activities that highlighted the residents, talents and interests, and allowed them to connect with others or with her interests, was my favorite part. Working closely with a small staff in life in Richmond that worked well together with the same goals, becoming a respectful team and working well with dining, Caregiving & front desk staff were also highlights. When I worked at Lavender Farms in 2022 this place had very good people and was overall very good place to work. 


The interim ED is awful at this community and very conniving and deceitful. He talks about employees behind there back and say many cruel thing about staff and management. There was a time where he stated that an employee looked like she couldn’t afford to buy shoes because of how she dressed and she was African American . Don’t get star struck by what they will pay because once your in the door you will see how unorganized and corrupt this community is. If you are a person of color don’t expect etc for management to look out for you at all. Communication is nonexistent and management does not supply staff the correct tools to be successful . Don’t waste your time trying to work here it’s not worth the stress ir drama you’ll encounter

The facilities are gorgeous. Working with the elderly and other employees with such different backgrounds is interesting and rewarding. I have never worked somewhere that employees and managers were allowed to treat each other so badly. There are some great people that work here. There are also some really toxic people in high level positions. There has been so much turnover in HR and management positions that it is hard to know what to think.

The entire staff is friendly and very helpful and the residents were Awesome!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The only stress I had was when I caught Covid-19 and had to leave my employment because my I’ll lasted a long time.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I found the work environment and culture very calm and relaxing. All departments were top notch from management down to our housekeeping. Team work was fantastic at Balfour and I must say that place was the best place that I’ve ever worked.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day was actually good from the time I clocked till the time I clocked out. Like a second home.
