Examples of my Help-Desk calls:

Wells FARGO tech onsite at a remote ATM or branch employee reports ATM not communicating, what is the problem ? .....
Then I would use the TELNET command-line utility to access a specific router and analyze if the circuit is up or down or if it’s operational verify CRC errors in the diagnostic configuration of the program that maintains the integrity of the circuit or if inbound/outbound packets are about the same or if there are differences in the accumulation of packets being transmitted or received.

Sometimes a user will be trying to access a file or folder on the Network that requires Modify, Read or Write access that he or she may or may not have Security access. Based on my analysis of a diagnostic tool such as ACTIVE DIRECTORY on server using MS Server 2003 or Virtual Machine Ware called VMware – I would have to determine if the user has actual writes to the file or folder or if Data Security or the Engineers designed the network incorrectly for the user to be granted access.

When a call would come to me from the Proof Department regarding a sever they use to run the check-sorters not responding to jobs scheduled on a mainframe sub-system – basically I would check the server status and sometimes have to reboot the server remotely to get the jobs in the queue to start again or check with the Programmer regarding any changes made in batch processing and coordinate resolutions between department managers. Similar situations on network printers – however, when dealing with High Speed multi-function printers I would have to reset the Print Spooler vs. the actual printer or delete print jobs that were submitted in error by users. Also, users would call and say “I can’t print to a specific printer, they say the printer is selected, but nothing prints. I would check the IP address of the printer to verify if it was correct – often the designated printer would be configured with the wrong IP address on the Network.

All that mattered was taking money from people, even if I gave them nothing to show for it. As a Financial Sales Advisor II, my job was to talk people into opening new accounts and lines of credit, and convincing them to move any mortgages or investments they might have from their current bank to BBVA Compass. I had 10 hour days at least once a week and sometimes had to work Saturdays to solicit customers by phone, even though the bank was closed on Saturdays and I had already worked Monday through Friday. The sales were cutthroat. The lowest I sank was when a woman came to me asking if she could open a line of credit as a way of consolidating her other credit accounts. She wasn't approved for as much as she needed, and she told me she'd rather not take the line of credit because she didn't trust herself not to max it out. My boss, the BRE (Branch Retail Executive), was listening in and I knew I had to talk the woman into taking the credit. So I did- and two months later, she had spent every available dime and came in crying because it was more debt that she didn't need. I do not believe in forcing products on people when they don't need them. Even worse, the BRE would take a day off any time her child was ill, but crucified anyone else who dared do the same, even telling an employee that they needed a "back-up" to stay with the employee's gravely ill, hospitalized child. The BRE's favorite employee was a man who engaged in "churning," which means closing old accounts and opening new ones to make it look like he was meeting sales goals. Some of the accounts he opened were $0 balance accounts that were there "just in case" the client needed them. The incentive plan was terrible and the goals were impossible to meet. To make matters worse, both the BRE and the Assistant Branch Manager were highly unprofessional. The assistant manager played favorites with the tellers and was constantly reprimanding employees in front of customers, and the BRE thought it was funny to pass gas in her office and then announce it to the employees. Leaving BBVA Compass was the best career choice I could have made.

Every branch is different. If youre a FSA  youve got it made.  SSA's have the bad end of the deal. There is no just teller positions anymore so now SSA's have a teller drawer but also have to make sales goals. which is fine because you make extra money if you do well.  The hard thing about this position is the pay to responsibility ratio. Not only are you taking care of customers but you do operations, and have to make sales goals. customers get mad when you open accounts at the teller line but when I worked there if i didn't open accounts i would be scared i didn't have a job at the end of the week due to goals that had to be made. You get to work and do your typical opening duties  then have a flood of customers and get super busy then when it was over get  bombarded  with " what kind of sales person are you if you talked to 6 customers and didn't sell a single thing' It was super stressful. but then get yelled at for opening up accounts that took time  and it causes a line in the lobby with angry customers. What really sucks is the branch managers can get away with a lot. I left because my BRE (branch manager) made the environment extremely hard to work in. I was new to  this location and it was a nightmare from day one. there was a reason why her turn over was high. She threatened to close two of my accounts due to them not wanting online banking..... because it  affected her chance of going to a trip BBVA pays for the top sellers. It makes me sad because I really enjoyed what I did and I was good at it.  It sucks having a branch manager that makes you scared to stand up for yourself or to go to HR. A lot  has happend that made me decided to leave for my own well being. (That I wont get into but trust me it was rough). 
If you want to get your foot in the door  BBVA is a good company to start at . If you have drive and passion like I do then you will thrive. My advice is when or if you apply to BBVA interview the branch manager while youre in your interview.  Go with your gut. You may have better luck than most of us.

The only good thing about this company is great benefits and ability to get promoted...although new hires starting same position and same experience level will get offered more money than someone that gets promoted. Also, the incentive bonuses are good, but most are just out of reach (such as, a goal of bring in over $1m in new customer money a QUARTER)! This used to be an excellent place to work but started to change for the worst when  upper management rolled out with their “RetailOne” Platform that is supposed to be “customer centric. It is far from customer centric. Every day there is more stress added, a new sales call time for making cold calls  and less freedom than before. Nobody likes working there anymore because upper management has made the atmosphere very sales pushy and not about the customer. Every time a banker does something for a customer that the customer truly needed, managers had to ask “well why didn’t you offer them a credit card or a home equity loan” even if it would not have been in the customer’s best interest. The branch managers have to be on several conference calls a day with upper management instead of being out in the branch supporting employees and making customers happy. Upper management is way off their mark on making a customer centric company. I wanted to move up to a branch manager position and would have had the opportunity until the changes made work their unbearable...so I decided there were better things waiting for me outside of BBVA.

An assistant Branch manager is acting manager branch manager. We are in charge of everything from payroll, audit, coordinating the platform sales, lobby management, marketing, networking and doing sales and taking care of customer and problem solving. we also sell investment, manage loan pipeline and watch over the PNL. The branch manager is always out doing business development. We were required to do everything. Not a very good pay for the job but if you don't have experience it is a good place to start. It is Fast Paced. Good company to learn on your own how to do business development, marketing. There's no traffic so employees have time to deepen the relationships with the customers. Co-workers are unhappy due to favoritism that runs from the top tier down. The hardest part of the job is the operations where district and compliance don't come to an agreement on how things should be done.it is a nightmare!!! Operations and audit requirements change from one day to another and nobody know the right answer. There's a lot of disorganization and things have not been established like other big banks. it is growing very slowly and A lot of unnecessary paperwork. Extremely sales oriented.

A typical day at the bank would start off with an awesome cup of coffee. Attend regular morning meetings called huddles, while getting an opportunity to exchange ideas with my enrgetic and positively the most understanding management team. Greet incoming regular customers. Upon attending to their basic banking needs, I would strike up a friendly conversation which was the most important and fun part of my job. It gave me a chance to better know the needs and wants of my customer and send them off to my co- workers,platform employees, for any additonal assistance and also to increase sales on our products. I would have to say that the most challenging part of my job was only when our system would go down. It sometimes caused for my customer to become frustrated, and second guess their trip to the bank. Overall my experience for working with this company helped me to better understand financial hardships do exists and made me personally a more responsible person. I also greatly enjoyed working with an amazing staff of tellers and supervisors. Their training and guidance was above expectation and I will take the skills and knowledge I've learned with me to any new job I may have.

Your made to feel your job is always in jeopardy, every worker feels this way. Mgmt. never tries to find solutions to improve the work place they just push and threaten write ups if you don't finish 12 hours of work in 8 hours it is your fault not the company strategy/process or the bad & slow system - it is the employees fault. Management comes and goes as they wish all off work during holidays but workers can't get those times. Your lucky to get any of your requested vacation time granted. Constant procedural changes, that adds additional work but not a faster process.  When you leave each day your blood pressure is off the chart and then you dream about your job like your at work.  Very small raises or No raises annually and then removed bonus as well from production. I do not recommend this place to work you will never have work life balance or peace of mind, as the harder you work the more they expect from you. Valuable & talented workers are not rewarded. Threats are given in meetings and one on ones if you don't  do this/that each day there will be severe consequences, your are under pressure and can't make one error on any part of your job, which causes people to make more errors.

This company pays good to bring you onboard but once you are in that is it! No pay raises, or opportunity for promotion UNLESS you like to kiss major behind to the managers and especially be part of the district mangers "click" that he built by bringing his previous coworkers from another bank. The customers really dont come 1st and when you try to help, the managers are on your back because you are taking too long with a customer! All they want you to do is refer the customer to call the customer service line which takes a minimum of 20 minutes to only be transferred to the "correct department." This is a sorry excuse for a bank that should have stayed in Spain. If you are an assistant manager you will do ALL the work and really be the Manager but you will not have the title OR the pay. The manager will always be out of the branch "looking" for new business, therefore you are left to handle everything at the branch. The health insurance is the worst! It is expensive and eventhough you pay for the premium package you will continue to receive unpaid bills at home! The technology is the worst eventhough it was just upgraded.

Constant turnover from Executive lv down. Goals are always months late before rolling out. In addition there's  ever changing comp plans making it extremely difficult to bonus.  The better producers are leveraged to pick up the under performers slack, constantly with monthly and quarterly increases. Meaning if you're on track to bonus one quarter your goals could increase up to 10× or more in multiple categories. It's like the better you do the harder it gets for you to get compensated.  You cant respectfully start speaking out about the increases or relentless demands or questioning marketing strategies that have zero relevance to your area. To do so is to shoot yourself in the foot. This is not coming from managers or bankers that struggle. This is from the hardest working and biggest producers in not only the district but company nation wide. Some powers that be will single you out and find ways to ride you then fire you.

 If I can give a positive point
BBVA is structured so that you are very involved in multiple areas and processes. Meaning you don't just pass off a product to a different person. In many cases you are expected to find/source a client, profile, find the need/sell product and execute to completion. This is much more involved than other large Banks.
