The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) role at Beltone offers a predictable Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 schedule and a generally low stress environment once you are trained. Workload can vary by office, but autonomy is high, and PCCs are trusted to manage their own workflow and priorities with minimal supervision.

While this is not a direct sales role, it is clearly a sales support position. PCCs handle scheduling, insurance verification, maintaining patient records, and identifying opportunities to bring patients back into the office. Although PCCs are not responsible for testing or selling hearing aids, performance is indirectly measured by how effectively patients are brought in for the Hearing Care Practitioner (HCP). In addition, there are custodial responsibilities, as there is no dedicated environmental services staff.

Patient interactions are often positive and can be one of the most rewarding parts of the job. Simple tasks, such as cleaning a hearing aid, can make a significant difference for patients who believe their device has failed.

Training and onboarding are inconsistent. Initial in person training is brief, followed by remote support and learning through online modules. HCPs play a major role in day to day guidance at first, and most are professional and easy to work with.

Leadership and corporate level departments are generally approachable and supportive. However, the company operates more like a retail sales organization than a patient centered healthcare practice. Patients frequently express frustration with recurring marketing mailers and call center calls, even when they have been seen recently, and many feel these communications are misleading.

One notable challenge was the removal of an inclement weather benefit with minimal notice, without any adjustment to PTO accrual. When compensation concerns were raised, leadership acknowledged the importance of the PCC role, but responses felt standardized and impersonal.

Compensation for new hires currently ranges from $18–$20 per hour as of November 2025, while longer tenured employees may earn less. Benefits are basic, with medical coverage through UHC and a relatively high deductible. PTO accrual is slow for the first several years, which can make managing personal obligations during normal business hours difficult.

The strongest aspect of the role is the predictable schedule and the generally supportive, respectful culture among coworkers and corporate teams.

Interview was remote and very casual with a very friendly person. A typical week is a lot of down time with a few days with patients. HCP is very dedicated to maintaining a positive relationship with patient to try to make sure he can get another sale from them. I've learned more about hearing loss and how to help with cleaning devices. I've also learned that even though the company as a whole has sold more devices than any other in the country, you NEED to sell more. The culture is very welcoming, which is needed as training is pretty minimal and you will be reaching out for assistance often at first. The job is not hard really. Most tasks can be completed quickly. The most difficult thing is not getting bored if you're in an office that has limited HCP hours, you're expected to have a working lunch and will not be allowed to leave to pick up food so plan on bringing something with you. The hourly pay is pretty close to minimum wage even with experience, but you do have bonus opportunities.  You have no real control over that bonus per say, each office has a target for aid sales. If the target it hit you get half of a percent of the total for that month. You also can get a referral bonus if a patient refers someone and they buy aids. Both depend on how busy your office is, how much time is available to sale, and if your HCP can close the deal. You get 6 paid holidays, 3 days of unpaid personal time and 8 days of PTO. Your PTO is basically about 2.5 hours for every 80 hour pay period, so it takes 2 months to make one day off. But management is pretty lenient when it comes to you needing to take time off, just don't do it often because you'll never get a vacation. I enjoy that the job is pretty stress free and there is a great supportive team to help when needed, I don't like that we bombard potential patients with mail to the point of harassments. Some of that mail is disguised to look like official mail that may have come from the federal government. One mailer is very clearly a bait and switch offering a very low cost device that isn't available. 

I absolutely love my position with this company. The pay is extremely fair in regards to work being done, the work tasks are very clear, and they really take the time to set up each person for success. I've never worked in a place where if I didn't know how to do something then I had at LEAST 3 people within easy contact to help me, but here it is. Every single person I have spoken to here, or had the pleasure to work with closely, has been incredibly nice and helpful. This company is also very understanding with personal matters that need to be taken care of during times that conflict with work hours so long as you speak to management about it and work something out with them. I really can't express how much I love my job here, and I really do see myself making this a career. This is so much different than any other position I have held, and I really am so thankful to be apart of this company.

This job was a game changer in my life and career. This is a great place to work.  It has been the best move I could have made for me and my family.  I am helping people everyday with hearing loss and it is rewarding to see the change in their lives.  At the same time, my income went way up while working less hours than my previous job.  I was in sales in another industry, but took a chance on adapting my sales skills with my love of people at Beltone.  The owners and management provided me with the best training on patient care, technology and the practice.  I feel like I own my run my own business and can chart my own course without any of the worries of overhead and marketing.  My director is so supportive of me and my goals.  

I really like working here. It is a good company. I really enjoy working with the specialist who is a very caring person. The patients are awesome. I love working with them and getting to know them. The hardest part of this job for me is when you find out a patient passes away as it is very sad.

My manager did a awesome job training me, as the last job I came from I had to train myself. I didn't know anything about this company before, but I definitely do now, and have enjoyed learning everything. I am still learning every day. The other patient care coordinators are very helpful in helping you when ever needed.

I have been in this industry for 10 years and hands down Midwest Beltone is the best company I have ever worked for.  The management team are always available to help and support you no matter what you need.  They believe in superior patient care and will not accept anything less.  When you have to be with family for health issues they support you because they recognize family comes first.  The company as a whole does their best to make sure you have what you need to fully execute your job requirements.  They realize that when you are successful they are successful.  I couldn't be happier and I will be with this company until I retire.

A fantastic company from our owner's to our H.R. department to our call center. We have an amazing team. Help is always a phone call away. The pay rate is competitive and time off and paid Holiday's and vacation time are gracious. The management team is the absolute best. The work can sometimes seem repetitive but most of the time it is exciting and very competitive and we TRUMP award ceremonies which make you feel extremely proud for where and who you work for.

You are always learning something new everyday, and I have been blessed to work with a great Hearing Care Practitioner that cares about his patients and the services provided. I love working with the patients and seeing the overall benefit of the products we provide with only their hearing needs in mind.

I really enjoy my job here as a patient care coordinator. Every person I have spoken with or had the pleasure to meet have been extremly friendly. I have never worked for a company where people are so helpful and quick to answer any questions I may have. You never feel alone, there is always someone just a phone call away willing to help. I have the absolute BEST manager I have ever have. She is beyond friendly, supportive and really cares about her patient care coordinators success. I love it here and never plan on leaving.  

Company business model works well in markets with little competition.  They rely on misleading direct mail with very low response rates unless they are the only provider in town.  If you are in a market with a lot of competition take the salary plus 10% commission option.  Otherwise you will be working for free 90% of the time because they haven't figured out how to compete with firms who understand digital marketing.
