Working at Bethany Medical has been one of the most stressful professional experiences I’ve had. I’m writing this because candidates deserve an honest picture of what they may walk into.

Onboarding includes signing a confession of judgment/promissory note that creates personal financial liability tied to employment. Many of us view this as a serious and avoidable legal risk.

Clinically, there is heavy pressure to see high volumes of patients, including those requesting controlled pain medications. There is also an expectation to prescribe treatment plans involving opioids, yet the company does not provide meaningful training, education, or protected time to ensure providers are equipped to handle these cases safely and confidently. The result is a prescribing environment that feels driven by demand and productivity, not by clinical support or professional development.

The workload is overwhelming and not rooted in realistic expectations. Providers are pushed to see up to 24 patients per day, scheduled in 15-minute increments, with the expectation that all clinical notes be completed and signed by the end of the same business day. There is no protected administrative time in the schedule or workday to do this work, which sets clinicians up to fail or burn out. The problem isn’t the patient volume itself, it’s the mismatch: high volume, short visits, same-day note closure, and no time given to actually complete charting, care coordination, or clinical review.

The workload is relentless. The typical schedule involves nine clinical days in a row with no break, long clinic hours 8a-6pm, zero administrative time, and minimal PTO. Support staff, including MAs, are “trained” on the job with very limited resources, minimal clinical oversight, and no standardized certification pathway. There is frequent turnover, inconsistent staffing, and a lack of clear operational structure. It genuinely feels like practicing in a chaotic, anything-goes setting

Pay is well below what you’d expect for this level of intensity. There is a collections-based incentive, but it doesn’t balance the overall pressure, exhaustion, or lack of support. There’s an internal culture of over-ordering diagnostics and steering patients toward in-house services, which many providers feel is rooted more in revenue strategy than clinical judgment. The specialty (cardiology, psych, pulm, GI, derm) departments lack quality standards, accountability, and functional collaboration.

The larger issue is the absence of real systems. When clinical leadership, structured workflows, and safety oversight should be strongest, they’re simply not there. That vacuum creates nonstop stress for staff and raises serious concerns about patient care safety.

Primary care is built on evidence-based practice. That means clinical decisions should be guided by research, established standards, and continuing education. At this organization, that foundation is missing. In my experience, care models are driven more by volume, revenue, and patient demand than by evidence-backed protocols. There is no meaningful support for clinical education, no structured prescribing guidance, and no investment in keeping providers current with best practices. When processes and clinical expectations should reflect the basic standards of modern primary care, they simply don’t. It creates an environment where clinicians are left to navigate complex care decisions without the tools or guardrails needed to practice responsibly.

It’s worth asking real questions about the physicians you may be working alongside. This organization tends to hire and retain providers who are in tough or limited job situations, whether financially, professionally, or personally. Many clinicians I’ve worked with describe feeling trapped, not because they want to stay, but because the company creates agreements and work expectations that make leaving complicated. When providers should feel supported, educated, and part of a stable clinical team, many instead feel locked in. The pattern is hard to ignore: clinicians who need work the most, or feel they have fewer options, are often pushed to stay in an environment that doesn’t offer meaningful clinical leadership, mentorship, or safeguards. That may work for the business side, but it does not work for clinicians or patients. If you’re considering employment here, or an offer from this organization, you deserve to understand who they hire and why, and you should look closely at whether that same environment sets you up for growth or leaves you with no backup plan.

If you want a reasonable schedule, solid clinical guidance, protected admin hours, and a workplace that sets you up to succeed, this is not that place

A day in the life of Bethany Medical...I started here just over a year ago. I was hired as a Float to go to the different satellite offices to fill in as needed.  I then was asked to take a full-time position as a Front Office Representative.  There, I learned to handle the scheduling of echo's vascular studies and nuclear stress tests.  I also did the authorization's for the nuclear stress tests and payment plans as needed.  This was a hectic schedule, but very rewarding.  In March, I moved into the role of Unit Secretary.  This, by far has been my most rewarding position thus far at BMC.  I work very closely with the patients scheduling their future visits as well as all ancillary procedures and referrals for them.  I am now moving into the role of Point of Service for the company and I look forward to again growing my knowledge in this role as I work with our patients/company to make our company more financially viable.  The hardest part of my job is not being able to have physical contact with the patients; there are just times when a patient needs a hug and needs to know that you here, you care and understand them.  The most enjoyable part of my job is showing up each day for work knowing that I am here to help my TEAM and to assist the patient in any way that I possibly can TODAY.  We can only take one day at a time and today, we can make a difference that could change the rest of our patient's tomorrow's.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing.  Stay away.  Toxic management.  Bad pay.  They lie to you to get you to work there.  They micromanage you.  You would be better off staying far away from this company not only for your health but your mental health as well.. Super high turnover



What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
All of it. I worked there 6 years and it took me that long to realize that I was working in a cesspool of evil.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful.  They are very clicky.  The gossip is very bad.  If you don't lie and brown nose the management you will get no where in the company.  Great place if you don't like to work and yoi like to be in your cell phone all day. If you have any work ethic or integrity you won't make it. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Micromanaged, panic attacks,  no breaks, if you are therer favorite then you can be on your cellphone and not required to do anything.

I was initially very excited to work for this company, but that quickly changed after starting at my assigned location. The work environment was extremely unprofessional, with frequent cattiness and rudeness between staff and some providers. It often felt like a toxic atmosphere rather than a supportive workplace.

I was also concerned about what appeared to be the hiring of unqualified or unlicensed personnel. There were times I was asked to perform tasks outside of my scope of practice, which put me in an uncomfortable position professionally.

The turnover rate among providers and both front and back office staff was very high. Staffing was also unevenly distributed—some providers seeing around 30 patients a day had up to five medical assistants, while others seeing up to 45 patients were expected to manage with only one or two. This imbalance created significant stress for staff and raised concerns about the overall work environment and patient care.

First of all they care nothing about staff whatsoever! They fool new staff into thinking the reasons they do not give raises is because of their “monthly bonuses” that’s bogus! In order to get that bonus you have to literally do the doctors job so the company can make a certain amount of money a month which is a lot to get the bonus and even then there are still reasons why you are not promised that bonus every month so DO NOT BELIEVE THIS!  The upper management I think is some kind of cult they get paid double bonus a month just from talking about staff every month they are the worse for gossip and drama in the office and tell staff everything they shouldn’t! This company and upper management, team leads are a joke!  You will literally get worked to death while they sit on their tail and do nothing and no matter how well you do your job you are never ever going to get appreciated here!  The staff here are ALL MISERABLE and all say they are looking to get out.

I applied and within the next 2 days I was called for an interview. The medical recruiters are super friendly, very sweet and professional. The staff is very sweet and make sure you feel comfortable and ready. The training is great, hands on, makes sure you are comfortable with what you are doing. They are very organized, and have a great schedule. The multiple offices is very convenient, especially for those who live in different cities. Overall Bethany is very dedicated to their employees. New staff gets a call from a mentor for the first 6 weeks just to makes sure that everything is fine, and that they feel comfortable at the location they are at, or to see if  they have any issues or complaints. Which i think is great especially if you are new, somethings can be overwhelming at times and you wouldn't know who to turn to. I'm so grateful I have the opportunity to work here. I definitely recommend working here if you're looking for a medical job with great staff. 

This company is one of the few that gives new grads a chance. They take the time to train new grads on various areas and encourage new training to broaden their scope of practice. Environment is very fast paced, providers are expected to see >20 patients per day, but they are properly compensated/supported for their hard work. There are several resources to address clinical issues and they are dealt with in a timely manner. Health care and 401K benefits are very competitive. Management is always looking for better ways to provide the best patient care possible! 

Typical day at work was starting out with double booked sometimes tripled booked appointments with patients, being short staffed and trying to room 2-3 patients alone, having 10-15 prior authorizations daily, drawing those 2-3 patients blood while trying to room 2 more patients, no team leads having your back and making sure you are still sane throughout the day cause you’re busting your butt to keep things afloat.   I learned that I deserve better.  Management is absolutely horrible at this point. Work culture is bad everywhere now, hardest  part of the job was having to do so much while the team leads and senior team leads sit down all day with no care in the world of what’s going on just making sure all the messages are done so they don’t get into trouble while also making some messages magically disappear.  Best part was free lunches and the patients. 

This is the most unprofessional job I've worked for. A typical day at work consisted of being bantered by patients, staff not doing their job properly & management being nowhere to be found. I learned absolutely nothing in my time working for this company. Management is only in the position they're in due to their personal relations with HR. Workplace culture is very iffy. Clinical teams are against clerical teams, higher support never has your back, incorrect information is always given to patients by MA's & providers & so on. The hardest part of the job was faking a smile everyday knowing I didn't want to last another second here. The most enjoyable part of the job was me leaving with a clear mind. I'd eat a pair of jeans before recommending anyone to ever work here.

I had not a good experience working for Bethany medical center. The part I enjoyed most was interacting with the patients. But the company doesn't give you much time to interact with the patients. Everything is fast pace and it's all about the money instead of the patients. There is not much opportunity to advance in the work place. I have not learned any new skills working there. It was the worst place I ever worked for and the management is not helping very much. I had horrible co-workers that were making fun of others. The doctor's I worked for were not very pleasant either. 
Now I'm just a patient there myself because of the doctor I'm seeing there is just wonderful but the rest of the employees not so much.
