Borland-Groover Clinic

I worked 8:30am-5:00pm and the environment was very happy, pleasant and comforting for employees and patients. 
One thing that I learned from Borland-Groover Clinic is that you always help your co-workers. Just because it was not in your job description it didn't mean that you don't go above and beyond to help a fellow co-worker. I had the BEST managers. They would always get everyone a little something "JUST BECAUSE" and leave it at our desk. They always had team building exercises for all of us to do outside of work, it helped us learn to work as a TEAM and not just for yourself. I also had the best co-workers. We all got along and I must say there was never any "drama". Borland-Groover Clinic did not allow any of that and we all knew it so it never happened. 
The hardest part of my job was knowing some of the patients were really sick and not going to make it. Some had cancer and some had other life threatening diseases. That made it hard for me.
The most enjoyable part of my job was getting to form a relationship with my patients. I enjoy working with patients and making them feel comfortable, and know they are in good hands. I've had several patients buy me gifts because they may have came in and got bad news but I was there to try to put a smile on their face and give them hope. I truly take pride in everything I do and want to make everyone, friends, co-workers, patients or a stranger on the street happy and put a smile on their face. Life is hard as it is so why not just show some compassion to someone else? I feel one good deed will lead to another.

Management open to new suggestions which help the work flow be more efficient and streamline.  This in turn helps more punctual patient and insurance payments.  AR is closely monitored. 

All employees work closely together with excellent communication to enhance day to day productivity.

Duties/tasks are clear and detailed, therefore there is minimal downtime, which improves the companies bottom line.

Multiple patients seeing multiple physicians can be difficult in the sense that patient personal information is accurately obtained in front office, therefore increasing the efficiency of getting claims getting paid in a timely manner in the billing office.  

Experiencing this streamlined process flow properly with timely payer reimbursement is extremely motivating and encouraging to keep up this process.  This also encourages the billing department to stay abreast of any potential changes with particular payers so that AR remains ideally within a 30-60 day range  reimbursement period.

I received all phone messages from nurses and front desk then located each patient chart and attached phone message to each one, then delivered to nurse. I was responsible for getting all patients test ready for next day’s appointment that were ordered by their doctor  including pathology reports, x-rays, lab work, and respiratory reports. I worked there for 3 months then was promoted to medical office specialist. I was then responsible for checking patients in and out for 6 doctors and answering phones, faxing records, collecting co pays, preparing patients paper work  prior to their scheduled surgery as well as giving an estimate on cost of their surgery.

I did not enjoy working that far from home and making wages that mostly just covered gas to get to work.

Co workers was hard workers, and very easy to get along with.

Horrible place to work for, would not recommend. 
-The managers do not assist their teams, are unprofessional, and there is a lot of favoritism. 
-There is no room for advancement and raises do not happen or are extremely small. 
- they could simplify the work process however refuse to do so. 
- Despite little to no raises, they continue to add on workload. 
- Depending on your team, your arrival time for your shift changes which is inconvenient. 
- Theres a point system, so even if you're sick they require you to come in. If you reach a set amount of points you are terminated. 

My manager who oversaw all of the Medical Office Specialists on the Southside was a very toxic woman. Always cursing and very unempathetic. I was having a family emergency and tried to talk to her about it and she told me to suck it up and leave my (insert bad word) at home. She was very irate that I was crying uncontrollably. I left not too long after 9 months and one promotion. I'm glad I left but would consider coming back if she wasn't in charge.

A typical day consisted of filing charts back,filing pt.'s records into the correct chart.
pulling charts for messages that were called in, as well as pulling charts in preperation for next day and week out appointments.
Once I was moved upfront as a front office specialist, my duties consisted of answering phones, taking messages checking next day charts and placing OVN in the chart. Going through faxes that have come over and distrbuting them to appropiate place.

I have worked in different aspects of Healthcare for many years and I must say that I have found my perminant career. Borland Groover has amazing room for growth and the benefits are awesome. They truly care about their employees and make sure to give back. I love working in a positive work environment with people that truly work as a team. This company is huge and truly had their act together. Borland Groover is very busy but stays organized and focused on the patients and referring physicians.

Filing Customers from the previous day or gathering files needed for the following day.  Going over Pre and Post gastro procedures and answering any patient questions.  Calling in prescription medications for patients exiting our facilities after procedures.  The hardest part of the job was learning the in house computer software system.  The most enjoyable part of my job was being around different patients and fellow employees

This was by far the best company I have ever worked for. My manager and team worked together like a close nit family . The environment was welcoming and supportive. They encourage you and even have a great program if you’re looking to go to school while you work for the company . Great benefits . I recommend working for this great company they understand treating your employees well is what makes a successful business and there is always opportunities to move up in the company . 

A typical day at BG was fast-paced environment,  always hiring, high turnover and inexperienced management.  Staff working at the clinics overall seemed satisfied and loved the Dr.s, however, administrative office culture struggles, lack of transparency, poor communication and punitive/blame.
