I was extremely disappointed working at Fenway Park. The leadership on the grounds crew was very unprofessional. Though the group got the appropriate work done, it was not a professional environment. The job was not taken seriously.
The environment was very inappropriate coming from both employees, but mostly from management. The one person in management who was professional was let go recently. Discussions within the crew are inappropriate on many levels. It's a shame that the blue shirts do not promote better behavior from themselves and from employees.
There have been instances I've seen firsthand of objectifying women, talking about other employees behind their back, and lots and lots of foul language.
Not only is the culture poor within this group, but as an employee, you are not fully respected. Your hours are very long and inconsistent. Schedules only include start times and are not provided with enough time in advanced. The pay is very poor for the amount of work put in. There is an expectation that you will always be at the beck and call of the management.

My position as clubhouse manager assists each and every team involved with the Boston Organization. My duties consist of managing daily schedules including many different responsibilities, such as, setting up certain fields with specific equipment to ensure the coaches and players are prepared for practice and or games. Other responsibilities involve uniform, inventory, and equipment management. This entails issuing yearly player and staff gear and equipment, maintain equipment inventory, handle staff and player mail as well as Red Sox shipping and receiving, and uphold the cleanliness of the clubhouses. Once the regular season begins, my duties are moved to Salem, VA with the Salem Red Sox. All the responsibilities are the same with an addition of maintaining communication with team management at all times, monitor and handle all accounting tasks involved with the teams meal preparation, baseball operations, and player development contracts (PDC).

A typical day at work is busy from the moment you walk in through the door in the morning. We always say we're hosting an event each day there is a home game, thus, there are a lot of moving parts that come together to provide an experience for fans, players and media. My responsibility is to the media as Spanish Language Translator/Media Relations Assistant. I, along with my coworkers and managers, work hard to be sensitive to the needs of local and national media as well as those of the baseball players who play for the Red Sox. There are good days and bad days but overall the work is rewarding and fun. The opportunities for learning about the business of baseball/professional sports and making relationships with local and national reporters/producers, baseball operations personnel and the players is what make the job worthwhile for me.

A typical day at work consist of performing a preventive maintenance walk through of the bathrooms, HVAC, and surrounding areas in the park. Personally I have learned how to do slight maintenance to things such as urinals, toilets, and other odds and end maintenance tasks required at the ballpark. Management and co-workers are great at Fenway, they require background checks of all employees. Everyone has uplifted spirits and always seem to smiling, it truly is a great environment to work in. The hardest part of my job is trying to fix maintenance needs during games when it is packed full of people. Some times you need to get it to a safe state that won't put any fans at risk and fix it the next day. The most enjoyable part of my job is my job in itself, I think it is amazing to be able to look forward to work every day.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Spring Training seeing all the fans excited for a new season and a beautiful ballpark and great fellow employees.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Traffic arriving right at game time then being late because they can't park quick enough.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
100% exciting and fun. Meeting new employees every game. We are family as they say.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive 7:00am start setting my cart up and making sure all my staff is in place on time. Ingress runs as smooth as possible and the after the game Egress runs the same.

I particularly enjoyed working for the Red Sox. I'm not a sports fan which is why I felt the managers hired me. They are not looking for fans or people looking to take advantage of the perks the company gives to their employees. They want hard working individuals who believe and follow the company values.
Lots of customer interaction, customer service and always busy. There's never a dull moment in the office with this company. Only downfall, this particular role does not include full time benefits. Its a part time job with full time hours when the team is in town. All year round role. Not seasonal

Working at Fenway Park has been a privilege for the last seven seasons.
There is no place I'd rather be on any given day than the ball park.
I arrive two hours before the game and assist fans with any information they need. I also show them to their seats.
I have learned that it is always about the customer and in this case the fan.
I have enjoyed working with many great people and have made great relationships along the way.
One of the hardest parts of the job is explaining some guidelines that Fenway Park has that sometimes leave the fan a little upset.
The most enjoyable part of my job is having the honor of working in such a historical place.
I would not change anything.

Typical day was preparing the field and batting practice. I learned that working for a professional sports field taking means you make the field absolutely perfect everyday despite what mother nature and constant games are thrown at you. The players need consistency. Management oversaw the most important aspects of the job like tarping. Fenway had many grounds crew workers, which lead to a fun work environment. The hardest part of the job was to be constantly on-call for pop up thunder storms and long days. The most enjoyable part was the environment of working for the Red Sox. It's not everyday that you get to drag the field between innings.

Loved working here in my day-to-day duties.  I was able to watch a lot of baseball and had some neat experiences along the way.   However, after two seasons of working here, I had to leave because the pay was so terrible.  I'd probably do the job for free if I was a millionaire, but I'm not.   The decision to leave was solely financial like many of our home-grown stars that have left in recent years.

My job was low risk, low reward without a lot of responsibility and not a lot of work. The only thing I could say I learned is how daily operations work at Fenway Park. The management I experienced was poor and unfair. It was a great culture and fun and my co-workers made it a fun place to work. The hardest part was dealing with management. The most enjoyable part was dealing with everyone else.
