Come to Brentwood if you want to be worked like a dog. They don't care if you're sick and contagious. They want you to come to work whether you have pink eye or covid. If they're short staffed (which they always are) they don't even care if you literally tell them you've been drinking. 

They want you to come to work on your off days and risk your license because they can't be bothered to hire an adequate amount of staff. They also can't hold onto staff because they don't pay you fairly. 

They give you 3¢ raises after an entire year and expect you to be grateful for it. 

Patient to staff ratio is ridiculous as well. Sometimes there will be 18+ patients to 2 workers. They don't care about my safety. They won't care about yours either.

The hospital stays dirty as well. It's embarrassing bringing patients in and showing them their rooms. Sometimes beds won't have anything on them or they'll be already slept in and the patient will have to strip the bed and make it themself.

The showers and bathrooms always stink like there's sewage backed up. Floors are sticky. It's just a poor excuse for a privately owned/for-profit hospital. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay was good.  Most of the co- workers were nice and willing to help out.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Most not all of the Management were horrible bullies. The way it’s run they will tell you one thing and you can’t depend on what they say. They will change it and attempt to bully you if you don’t comply. Then if you still resist they will get rid of you. They will lie and stick together.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The co-workers were mostly nice and helpful.  They most times didn’t have enough staff to cover all the floors. They would try and pull people from different areas that were hired for certain positions and make them work the floors. While most managers didn’t step in to help cover like they should have. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When the census was low I was cancelled frequently.  They were struggling to cover areas when the census was up. Either hit or miss.

Not having a case load and the intake department, itself, are what keep me working at Brentwood. Our purpose is to "provide help and hope", but how can we provide quality care to patients in need when the intake process is unnecessarily lengthy with so many tasks and too many documents to complete, with more tasks continually added, with pushback and/or complaints from the receiving staff upon admission, and with the expectation to get the patient to the care they need quickly. So many demands, so much pressure, and so much fault is put on intake even with proof that it is not our fault. The hospital depends on intake for admissions and to fix problems, even unrelated to intake, but it seems rare to get recognition or appreciation for that. The focus is supposed to be on the care for the patients, and although I cannot speak for them, I am pretty sure many do not feel cared for. We are short staffed most of the time, and the work demands are unrealistic without the appropriate amount of staff; that applies to all over the hospital, not only intake. 

In the beginning I was really excited about working at the facility. There were some individuals that was mean and hateful when you didn't fit into their click.I wasn't bothered because I came there to work and support my family. However it became a problem when people tried to cause harm to me. God took care of it and resolved the situation without me having to degrade my personality. The organization has their favorite people that they cater to. Brentwood conduct different activities for the employees which was a good thing. I was dedicated to that place. I had a death in my family and needed to take some time because it was devastating. I needed them to be there for me. They turned their back on me and let me go. The excuse was that I didn't know what I was doing on my job and I had been there for awhile. Management was not that great at times. Alot of things were swept under the rug. Brentwood is growing so more opportunities are on the way.

My coworkers ..Admin made it difficult and change their rules when works for them

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Minimal supplies, admin, low staf

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful, not enough staff. Lazy staff including some admin. No accountability or support. Employees who like to sabotages others. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work , do the job and go beyond. When you ask for help, it’s not provided because there’s not enough staff. When you try to transfer a patient to the correct floor, even with orders, and tell intake, who manages the beds, so they are made aware of bed changes, because the house staff is too busy, you can get in trouble for that. It’s a fire at will hospital.

Would not recommend this work environment due to health hazards and unsafe practices that leave staff at high risk for injuries.The intake department does not properly screen the patients and often the patients who are admitted are inappropriate for the facility.The juvenile delinquents play the system to get out of detention centers into the facility by lying and claiming they are suicidal just to be admitted because it’s easier and nicer conditions.Then they terrorize the kids that are there for real Psychiatric problems.There is rampant employee sexual fraternization.The good employees are terminated and the ones who drink and drug on the job are promoted.

We are chronically understaffed with RN's and mental health techs. The nurse to patient ratio is dangerously high and I find myself having to sometimes do 15-20 assessments with nursing notes that have to be hand written because the hospital does not have a computer system for charting, care plans or orders. The management staff is top heavy...too many chiefs and not enough Indians and they never offer to help when we are short staffed often seen in the cafeteria sitting and chatting with each other. Morale is terrible.  Don't expect too much and don'[t expect significant pay increases even if your reviews are excellent and never if you work per diem even if you work full time hours.

Brentwood is a complete joke. You go through this week long practically 8 hour classroom orientation which is completely useless! You are always working short staffed with dangerous patients. The turnover rate here is ridiculous. Administration is definitely top heavy & out of touch with a reality. Everyone that claims to love their jobs doesn't work direct patient care. There is a huge amount of responsibility placed on the RN while LPNs simply pass meds & that's it. Brentwood brags about being a Fortune 500 company yet they still appear chart. It's 202 no facility should be paper charting. Run away as fast as you can. I'm PRN & it was the biggest mistake of my Nursing career.

Typical day of work , begins with short staffing, lack of proper employee orientation to the assigned floor for that day NOT the floor hired for (a warm body mentality) , “report “ nonprofessional opinions marinated with profanities & criticism of STAFF, PATIENTS & MANAGEMENT, coupled with multiple NURSING STAFF with encumbered licenses along with addictions to alcohol 
& narcotic abbise . A MUCRO SHOT of a place that needs to be investigated and action taken against . MNOT PLACE for REAL NURSES  along with NOT a place for patients to be treated.

Taught students daily during 12 month period while hospitalized to ensure that they not get behind in the educational setting. Assisted supervisor with supervisory duties on a daily basis. Enjoyed the staff that I worked with and got along well with them. Hardest part of my job was the 12 month job duties and time away from family. The most enjoyable part of my job was helping children in need.
