I can say although this company is fair in one area, they aren't when it comes to advancement within nor fairness in treating their employees. "What's good for the goose, definitely isn't for the gander here." The company is full of clicks where if you don't fit, you won't get anywhere. I looked for advancement, and was told several times that I wasn't good enough basically. Now that I'm gone, I'm making way more in salary and couldn't be happier with a higher role than I was requesting here.

Oh, also- 90% of the reviews you read about this company are written through incentive of their own Human Resources, where they urge their employees to write good reviews for merit. I know this, because I was asked to write ONLY a wonderful review about them when I was employed here.

Don't believe the hype...

Was previously a great company and still great people to work with but now very weak board and leadership that is very self-focused without the ability to understand staffing and insurance products to the extent needed to make knowledgeable long-term decisions.   Major decisions impacting agents, customers and staff are changed on a whim.

The most important goal was to meet the needs of your internal and external customers. I learned more about many aspects of the insurance business. Management was motivated to provide good business but made outstanding efforts to make sure that employees were happy and had what was needed to do their job well. Great co-workers. It was hardest dealing with upset customers. Relationships and friendships gained in dealing with employees and customers was the most enjoyable part of the job.

I truly enjoyed my time at Builders Mutual.  It is a fantastic organization with an employee count of 250 or so. My job was the perfect mix of an HR Generalist and Recruiter.  They entrusted me to do my job and do it well.  My main task for the year was to hire 56 people within 7 months.  In the role, I handled the full life cycle of recruiting- interviews, calendars with management, reference/background checks, all offer letters, benefit or salary negotiations, agency negotiations and new hire orientations.  
It was a great pleasure spending each day with such smart, kind and intelligent people!

I enjoyed my time at Builders Mutual.  The culture is developing and becoming stronger with consistant focus from the leadership team.  The pay and technology/tools are a bit dated and need overhaul. But overall the company is solid.  If you are ok with working in a position for several years without opportunity for promotion its a really good company. But if you want to aggressively move up this is probably not the place for you.  Benefits are good, pay could be more to align with the amount of work performed and other industry pay scales. 

I had a disappointing experience working at this organization due to concerns around workplace culture and fairness. There were instances that raised serious concerns about unequal treatment and a lack of inclusivity, which at times felt discriminatory. Efforts to address these concerns did not lead to meaningful change. I would encourage leadership to take a closer look at fostering a more respectful, equitable, and inclusive environment for all employees.

Builders believe in health and wellness in the work place.  We have yoga, and weight watchers classes. A state of the art  gym, a community room with a pool table and ping pong table. Builders encourage you to stand and stretch take a break and walk around the grounds. Builders conduct Health Check 360 annually to reduce your insurance cost. Overall it's a great place to work.

I like Builders Mutual as an overall company. I've never thought I'd work at an insurance company, but I have learned a lot! 

I get to work super early in the morning to start the daily cycles and run the machines. I make everything is done in a timely manner. I also work on other machines to ensure daily mail are out accurately and in am timely manner. I work with a lot of paper.

Builders Mutual used to be a great company with great culture, but now it’s gone downhill and appears to be continuing in that direction. I hope things will turnaround as it has lots of potential to be great, but I am afraid things won’t be turning around anytime soon. Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot worse places to work, but Builders is not at the top of its game anymore. Overall it’s a decent place, good people, but not great. 

Supervisors and managers are the worst people to work for.  They do not know how to do their job.  Very cliquey company.  Their product defrauds the construction worker.  Does not cover anything that a CGL policy should.  The pride themselves on culture, but it is toxic.  Small time company trying to act big time.  Avoid at all costs.
