Its just one of those companies where you get a sense that the bottom dollar is more important than the residents and the staff. Its important but you can value your staff and residents and manage the bottom dollar where both are respected and managed appropriately.  I felt not valued as a staff member, In attempting to take pride in what I do and do it with confidence I asked to attend trainings and classes.  I was denied a certain class I felt I needed so I took a PTO day to attend and I was reprimanded for it,  it was worth it to me though because it gave me confidence in what I was doing to serve my residents and comply with the WACs. This company has a few buildings and Nurses working for it. During Nurses week no one in our building was recognized. Not even an email. No email from the CEO, from the ED. During administrative assistant week they were given flowers and cards. I'm wasn't looking for a blaze of glory. But when you see your network of nurses around you getting praised by the companies they work for, you start to wonder. 
 Notice I didn't say anything about hard work or the demands of the job. Because those things come with a Job like this. I am a hard working, I worked long hours weekends, on call, filled in for CNAs/MedTechs. Took Two days off in the 3 months I was there ( one counting the day I took off to train for what I felt was necessary to do my job effectively) I picked up a lot of missing pieces to work them back into an organized work place. All that to say  Its the little things that matter, don't work for a place that doesn't treat you with respect, that doesn't want to grow you or invest in you. That doesn't appreciate you. If your going to give a place the gift of you, your work ethic, your integrity, your years of expertise and know how, don't be content with just a salary. Let it also be well with your soul.

A typical day involved helping residents with their daily cares, cleaning rooms and common areas, doing laundry from start to finish, and assisting with food prep, often requiring a lot of multitasking and figuring things out on my own due to limited guidance. Throughout my time there, I learned how to stay calm and organized under pressure, communicate effectively with residents and their families, and handle difficult situations independently, as well as properly monitor and document residents’ health and behaviors. Management struggled with consistency and clear communication—staff concerns were rarely taken seriously, important decisions were made without informing the team, and favoritism was a constant issue. Certain employees were allowed to push their responsibilities onto others, and when the work wasn’t done exactly to their standards, they would yell at or belittle staff in front of residents; when this behavior was brought to management’s attention, it was usually laughed off or dismissed as “drama,” rather than addressed. Because of this, the workplace culture became toxic, driving away many dedicated employees who simply wanted a fair and respectful environment. The only truly positive part of the job was the residents, and building meaningful relationships with them was the reason I stayed as long as I did.

Every day you can go in and bust your rear. You could be absolutely great at your job. The moment you have a family emergency, they will tell you to figure out your shift yourself or you can work it. Management will remind you of your duties per the handbook but will never work the floor to cover you which is PER THE HANDBOOK. You could come in to a shift after a manager and find residents with BM down their legs and if you post about it, they’ll gas light you, making you look dumb in the work chat. Management will speak unprofessionally on the residents names with the staff and laugh at residents. 

Many reports would be made about the problem staff by MULTIPLE staff yet they still had a job. They promoted people to shift lead positions and NEVER EVEN GAVE THEM THEIR RAISES OR BACK PAID before rescinding the title. Manipulators at the very best in the game. If your family member is there, GET. THEM. OUT. The staff don’t care. Won’t even converse with them during meal times or even while pouring their drinks. They get put in their bed or recliner by 7pm if in the “memory care” unit to “make it easier” for staff.

Should be ashamed of themselves. Firing half their staff just to prove their better than them when the staff they fired were LITERALLY GREAT at their jobs!

A typical day at Care Partners I would start my day off with passing out medication to the scheduled residents.  After that, another co-worker and I would get scheduled meal started, set dinner tables and answer any call lights while cooking.  When it was meal time we would get residents up and to table.  Next, we served and helped with feeding residents.  Following with clean up and cares for residents.  Then, we would have activities for the day that residents always looked forward to.  While one co-worker was doing that another would be passing medication for next scheduled time.

  Depending on what day it was I would get residents bathed and dressed for bed.  After all night cares were done we would both work on charting from shift, which documented any new changes.  Next the new shift would come in and both of us would give shift report.

During my time at Care Partners I learned the important responsibilities of taking care of the elderly.  Also to have good team work to make sure everything was done right for efficient professional care.  

The role of being a caregiver were very enjoyable due to happy residents.

Be prepared for the schedule to change daily! Staff is hired weekly, the turnover rate is horrible. Staff doesn't either show up or calls in constantly. The regular staff that shows up consistently ALWAYS has to stay late or come in early. The majority of staff hired doesn't want to do the job correctly or does a shoddy job and because it's a body to fill the shift nothing is done about it. 
Some of the residents are nice and easy to work with. The majority of the residents are rude, disrespectful, uncooperative, and full care when they are supposed to be "assisted" with every day living. 
Management sucks, the directors are always guilt tripping staff into doing something extra, picking up a shift, dealing with an unruly resident or craptastic staff. 
Rules are always bent for every situation, usually to make the company look better. It wasn't until the second building was built that they raised the pay otherwise that too was horrible. This company takes advantage and burns good staff out. Most enjoyable part of this job was my day off when I got one! 

I loved me job and manager in the beginning. The job itself was great and the environment was great; which is why I did not mind the lack of benefits or the low pay. In the beginning we were fully staffed and were capable of giving great care to our residents. Corporate had a huge lack of follow through but our direct management always advocated for us. We were given the tools we needed to be successful on a day to day basis. Once that manager left the whole dynamic changed. We were continuously working over 50 hours a week and working short due to staff leaving after the previous manager. The new manager did not care to fix the staffing issues or any of the staff complaints. All of these issues were affecting the residents and the care they were receiving. Staff were becoming very unhappy, as were the residents which caused severe stress everywhere.

I love my residents and the people I work with but you will be overworked, unappreciated, underpaid for you have to do. You do cleaning, caretaking, passing meds if you choose to become a med passer. This job has destroyed my body, I wake up everyday with back pain and get slammed with 12 hour shifts multiple times in a row. Just to get my schedule changed slightly I have to threaten my position just to get it changed slightly so I’m not working five 12 hour shifts in a row. Everything you do right will go unnoticed and everything you don’t do will be yelled at you. There is hardly any appreciation for anyone here, every single shift is against each other and the mentality is that if this shift didn’t do it, neither should I. So you can expect to walk in to a load of dishes, laundry, etc. just because people didn’t feel like doing it, then you’ll be yelled at because it wasn’t done. 

I love the residents I cared for. I like the way the company handled there business with good co workers and a friendly positive atmosphere. There was always something to keep you busy which I what I like most. I would go in at ten pm work alone and care for on average 12 people. I would do rounds every two hours and administer medication if needed or if scheduled. I had to be a quick thinker, if something were to be troubling the residents I would do the best to my ability to address the problem and help them feel comfortable. Hardest part of the job would have to be when I had people pass on my shift, it was always sad to see a loved one go. I loved going in and talking with them however, they always help see the brighter side of things and would always brighten your day.

Scheduling is all over the place, communication is unclear, and standard for residents care are mid. My coworkers and residents are lovely, but management isn't very good at what they do. Part time hours are more like full time and if you're about to go into overtime you have to find someone to cover because they don't want to pay you for overtime. Management also will not let you leave for family matters or personal needs even if it's super important. A lot of information you should get in the interview such as wage, group chat matters, and hours are bearly touched on or not talked about.

A typical day at work consisted of me coming in to work and setting up whatever activities were planned throughout the day and assisting the residents in doing these activities. Every month I was responsible for making the activity calendar. What I learned at this job was how important activities are to seniors to ensure their quality of life. The workplace culture was amazing! Everyone was always in a good mood and laughing. The hardest part of the job was the little amount of pay and hours. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to spend time with the residents.
