Working at CBH Medical was one of the most discouraging experiences I’ve had in healthcare. What should have been a meaningful and fulfilling role ended up being incredibly toxic, mainly due to poor management and a lack of professionalism at all levels.
The environment felt cliquey and immature;  more like high school than a workplace. Leadership didn’t offer support, and worse, often engaged in gossip about staff. That kind of behavior from people in charge destroys trust and creates tension instead of teamwork.
The workload was overwhelming, to the point where I often felt my professional license could be at risk. Despite raising concerns, there was little support from management and even less from corporate, who rarely responded or took action.
Training was minimal at best, and policies were inconsistently enforced, or ignored entirely, depending on who you were. Favoritism was obvious, and accountability was almost nonexistent.
Turnover was high, and the disorganization only made things harder. It’s sad, because the patients deserve better and so do the staff who genuinely want to make a difference.
Unless you thrive in constant chaos, I’d strongly reconsider. I went in hoping to grow in my career, but I left burned out and disappointed.

This company is hands down one of the worst places I’ve ever worked. Management is completely unorganized and doesn’t care about staff safety or patient care. You get little to no training, but they still expect you to handle everything perfectly. Be prepared to be thrown into dangerous situations with little to no guidance from site level or upper management. When things go wrong, they blame the staff instead of fixing the real problems, which start with the site leadership.

The place is always short-staffed and stressful, and most good employees quit because of how toxic it is. The leadership creates the toxic environment by speaking with staff about other staff, making up lies and not taking accountability for their short comings while ALWAYS blaming other staff for the problem. If you speak up about issues, you’re either completely ignored and/or punished because now they see you as the problem. This company will try to bully you, run over you and take advantage of you.
Correctional healthcare can be rewarding, but not with this company. Save yourself the headache and the risk of loosing your license.

CMC provides a stressful work environment.  There is typically one nurse working in the entire facility to provide care to approximately 100 clients.  The expectation for high quality performance is extaant but they provide little incentive to perform with pride and quality in your work.  The salary is far less than other organizations in the area, the benefits package is weak with high out of pocket costs for employees.  They only recently added a 401k that relies solely on employee contributions and the company makes no payments on behalf of the employee.  There is high turn over and even when you go above and beyond you are rarely recognized for your efforts.

A nursing position is very autonomous and you never know what you will see in a given day.  Every day presents challenges that the team works together to figure out and solve.  Management backs up the employees whenever needed.  Balancing company policies and expectations with jail administration can sometimes present its' own difficulties but is always figured out.  The hardest part of the job is the amount of paperwork that is required for proper documentation.  The most enjoyable part of the job is the people on the medical team in conjunction with the officers.  We all work together to get it done.

Working with the staff in the medical department and with a lazy manager

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very very stressful, not a cohesive team, Training is awful, the medical team is not supportive of each other as a whole. Very partial lots of favoritism. Lots of leaving the facility for lunch breaks that could las as long as an hour to be away from the duties.

Unorganized, meds missing, lots of socialization of personal life.

My experience with this company was disappointing. There are issues with leadership, transparency, family involvement in decision-making, lack of structure, accountability, respect for personal time, and compensation growth. I also had concerns about the professionalism and ethics of certain management practices. The company culture did not align with my expectations, and I encourage prospective employees to carefully evaluate whether it is the right fit for them. Some of the positive reviews seem written by family members. Poor communication and no support from HR.

As an LPN at CBH Medical, a typical day involves patient care, managing medications, and collaborating with the healthcare team. However, poor management and workplace culture can hinder efficiency and morale. I feel I haven't learned as much about advanced patient care techniques due to limited training opportunities. The hardest part of the job is navigating the stress of understaffing while ensuring patient needs are met. Conversely, the most enjoyable part is building rapport with patients and making a positive impact on their health.

There is no best part, the administrator is clicky with the staff and unprofessional

The other medical staff,  it’s an environment like that of high school. There is no team work

Very poor, it brings down moral and makes workers feel unimportant

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Passing meds, taking off orders, addressing concerns, returning meds

CBH Medical is a superb place to work. The team that I work with have all been with the company for 5+ years and there is very little/ no turn over. This is indicative of the great culture and fantastic work environment. Can tell that the employees here really care about doing a good job.

Benefits and pay are good and the team is super reasonable when it comes to PTO requests and needing a day off.
