This company is a good company to work for if you can get by the fact that management doesn't care about anything but money and themselves. The manager in San Mateo wants everyone else to do her work. There is not enough help and the revolving door is really something else. Before I left, I was the person who had been there the longest besides 1 medical assistant, the providers, and the nurse. I left just after my 90 days were up. There are over 100 patients seen four days a week and only 2 people to answer the phones that ring off the hook, not only for our office, but to schedule patients for other offices that get to turn their phones off when they go to lunch. They hire people that really have no medical reception experience and to work in this job, you really need to know the dermatology part of medical. Not only medical but the cosmetic part of dermatology. The pay is not enough for what they expect of you and they don't take the time to train you in every way.

The employees are great! It is like working along side some of your closest family members. However, the opportunity for advancement is not there. The company does not offer a competitive pay for living in the bay area. Many of the doctors are very pleasant to work with and really appreciate the help that they have. Most of the doctors however can be very demanding and expect a lot out of you with very poor staffing coverage. There are a few doctors who can be just downright rude so for them you have to have thick skin. Front desk staff is over worked and there is not enough staff for the busyness of the office to help support the patient flow. Overall it is a great place to work if you want to work along side some very knowledgeable, kind and caring people. If you can get past the poor pay and want to get your experience then this is a great place to work at. 

Also, don't get too comfortable with the staff, they leave pretty frequently and management doesn't do anything to keep you.

A typical day is very busy but rewarding.  The everyday interaction with staff is something I look forward to when I arrive to the office.   My upper management have been supportive when there have been issues and receptive to new ideas and change when needed.   The hardest part about my job is the change in healthcare over the last several years. We have a shortage of dermatologists in the county and the ongoing cuts to insurance reimbursements make it even more challenging.  This creates an entire catalog of problems that affect everyone from the patient to the provider.  The best part about my job are the employees and the patients I get to serve in this community. I have made life long friends and met many interesting people.  I am beyond grateful. 

Typical day at work I would come in check all the rooms stock all the rooms and get the office ready for patients. I would file charts until the Dr arrived turned on the phones and unlock the door. Usually depending on the day patients are there early and I get the Dr ready for the patient if I biopsy is needed I would set up for the biopsy and take the specimen and label with date name area and what skin condition the Dr wanted to rule out. In between time I would answer the phone schedule appointments or do suture removal. I would Clean autoclave or whatever else needed to be done. The busiest days would be Tuesday Wednesday and Friday. The most enjoyable part of the job was being hands on with the patients and seeing them smile.

You get to meet wonderful colleagues, PAs, and doctors.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management, it’s always changing and some do worse than others. They “try helping you out but it’s the opposite”. It’s common sense but they only look out for themselves at the end.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Grateful for the opportunity but I am glad I left without regrets. Focus on your work, stay away from drama and you’ll enjoy working with the people around you.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The location that I was in was super fast pace, time goes fast like this, you come into work and start greeting patients, check them in and once you know it’s time to go.

CA Skin is far more interested in $$$ than anything else. They keep acquiring more and more practices and try to cram in more and more patients in a day rather than improving their current management infrastructure and supporting their employees. Work environment is very high stress and high workloads. Management is terrible; they do not appreciate their employees and they do little to address employee complaints or concerns. Pay is poor, working conditions at the main office are incredibly cramped, and there are not nearly enough restrooms for the number of people working there!! Employees are treated as replaceable cogs - moved about and discarded with no warning or consideration.

This place is really, really, really improving as a place to work. There are a bunch of new people that have been brought in to lead various teams that are adding a lot of professionalism and fun.

The work can be demanding since patients are coming into the offices frequently. So, my advice is that if you like the quick pace and want to be always busy, this could be a great job. The company is growing quickly and is opening many new offices that are closer to home.

The benefits are standard but they have a great discount program for all of the medical services that are performed. I see a lot of my co-workers going for various treatments and procedures that would cost $$$'s but for employees cost very little,

When you start working for CSI, it seems like a good place, however you don't have a voice. Concerns are voiced but no support from Human Resources. Many patients  harasses the front office due to masks or having to fill paperwork or any sort of updating of their file. Therefore no protection for employees from management. Employees are set up for failure if you are not part of their daily drama. Management turns employees against each other by using employees names for a random complaint. There is also lots of micromanaging from the manager and makes the environment very toxic.

My typical day consists of either covering helping room for a provider as an MA. Other days, I am traveling to my different offices, checking in with my staff and catching up on my admin. I enjoy being able to have a different office setting each day. However things can get a little overwhelming when I’m having to help room and do my supervisor duties at the same time, but I always manage and pull it off! That’s where I learn more time and task management.
