I worked for this company for over 4 years. They sold to Banyan Software to be a parent software* company for them about 2 years ago and call center management has not cared much about the employees since. 3 months into 2023 they laid off 1/5 of their staff, all of which notably were LGBT or people of color, or had been with the company for over 10 years and everyone involved had benefits such as health insurance, but management claimed they were reorganizing, not cutting budgets. Just as a precaution if you’re hoping for benefits. You’ll spend most of your time here without supervision, or support and when it comes in it’s almost overwhelming. If you’re looking for consistent hours, look somewhere else. They can promise 40 hour work weeks between May 15th and September 15th, outside of that you’ll need a second job as hours reduce almost immediately to 20-30 hours a week, and if you’re lucky enough to stay in the winter, down to 10-15 hours per week. Advancement in this company is rare and there are employees who have worked there for almost 10 years now still hoping to advance permanently. If you’re a college student who is already on your parents insurance and don’t have consistent bills to pay, this job is a great choice. If you want to make a long term career out of this company, I recommend looking somewhere else

Camis Inc is a wonderful place to work overall. The management is understanding, the co-workers are awesome and there are always activities (such as crosswords or coloring pages) going on to keep morale up. The hardest part of the job tends to be the customers and the expectations or entitlement they may have. The most enjoyable part of the job are the people behind the scenes in the call center, such as management or supervisors who help you to not get so bogged down in the harsh words or criticisms customers may have. I have learned that work is what you make of it and if you let all the negativity get to you, then you're going to be dragging your feet during the whole shift. If you focus on the positives or realize a lot of times people just need an ear to vent to when they're cranky, then the shifts become more enjoyable. Good pay for the work being done and management is great. I definitely would recommend the workplace!

Company hires reservations agents (contractors) without informing them that they will be sent home whenever the call volumes is low (can be sent home after 1 hour of scheduled shift). There are no set schedules and schedules are released a week in advance. No time off for vacation, medical appointments, or family responsibilities - even if time is requested in advance.  Strict policy of 3 absences and you are fired.  There is a revolving door of hiring, quitting, and firing. Pay is slightly higher than most entry level positions so it is easy to keep the revolving door of new hires coming in.  Environment is competitive - everyone trying to get as many hours as possible. Good job for students that need extra cash for weekend activities if they can get the time off.

Great training, friendly co-workers and managers. Respectful environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Knowing regulations for multiple states. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very open and respectful for LGBTQ and all lifestyles in general. Helpful co-workers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Answering incoming calls and making state park camping reservations. Assist customers/callers with navigating and troubleshooting for the reservation website. Answering questions about the parks within each state.

Very fun place to work, everyone there really likes each other and gets along. Only downside is if you don't have the ability to work a lot of hours or different types of hours, they will probably only keep you for the busy season. A lot of college students from the surrounding areas work during peak season and then work other jobs the rest of the year. You do get bonuses, an extra $1/hr if you complete your contract and you also get an extra $1/hr if you don't call have any inexcusable absences

I'm glad I'm able to fully work from home.

Having to keep up with metrics.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Since I am working from home, my environment is peaceful and laid back. The company culture is great. Everybody is always willing to help fellow coworkers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mostly answering calls and helping customers make reservations.

Since working at Camis, I have found this job to be incredibly encouraging and helpful in every level of management. I haven't worked at a place this friendly and genuinely relaxed since getting in the job force. At first I was skeptical of the environment, but I absolutely love it. The customers - as with any customer service job - is...well, ya know...but the coworkers make it worth it.

The hardest part of the job is coming in contact with a caller who is already frustrated and or stressed about having issues with our website or making their own reservations online. But there is people there who are in the same boat as you and they are there to help alongside your Job Coach. Our Job Coach met with us every week to help with idealist situations and comes up with weekly goals as to oppose working in a call center environment.

Camis was the best work place ever. It was a very clean office. The place was always cheerfully decorated. Sure, it's a call center and not everyone is always thrilled to work with people BUT if you had a positive attitude and did your best it had an amazing reward. Amazing leadership. Never had any issue communicating with anyone. Very team oriented. Overall very positive experience. 

You know what you're getting into when hired, no set hours, open 7 days a week from 8am to 11pm. Co workers and management are very friendly. Customers on the phone are generally not happy so job can take a toll, Camis has high turnover, I imagine it's because it's hard to deal with customers for an extended time. Contract employment basis. Policies can be questionable or somewhat unethical at times.
