The previous reviews in regards to the bad stuff is actually quite accurate. Management is never supportive. Memos almost daily, which are quite difficult to keep track of. In a hospital you would like to think that you have a team effort, however, it seems that when it comes to patient care, concerns, and needs, the hospital lacks severely. Which is sad, because working amongst the patients, they have realized this themselves.
Yes in fact you do get plenty of hours and many opportunities for overtime, but at the cost of not having staff or upper management support, it can cost you your job.
Benefits come IF selected for full time, however, there is a pecking order and to say the very least, I have seen full time employees leave and replaced with only part time employees constantly.
Canyon Ridge is in fact a popularity contest, if you are liked by the management, then every mistake you make can be regarded as a warning. However, if you are not a popular staff member and you a mistake you can in fact be fired.
Staff is a hit and miss. Some are very helpful but others tend to have ulterior motives. I say this because sadly staff have stolen money and valuables from fellow employees in the break rooms and from patients. Mind you those patients valuables are put into a safe.
I think though, the scariest part of this employer though is the fact that they will continue to admit patients when all beds are filled. So if no patients get discharged, then the new patients are left to sleep in a lounge on the floor or in a chair until a bed becomes available.

Typical day at Work?
- Patient safety, assisting nurse’s, doctors, and therapists. Helping with ADLS if needed. Collecting vitals and urine samples. Providing orientation and assisting with full body skin search upon admission. Assisting the team with the discharge process. Keeping the unit clean as possible. 

What did I learn so far from working here?
- I learned that verbal de-escalation is far better than doing physical restraints. 
- the team values hearing the patient out rather than putting hands on someone. 
- being more compassionate towards people and seeing it from their point of view. 
- value taking your breaks and stepping out of the unit for fresh air and a mental break. 

What is the work place culture?
- sometimes I feel there’s lot of clique’s but it’s bearable to me because mostly everyone is very nice and respectful towards me.  Haven’t had any issues with anybody. 

How’s the management?
- honestly very poor management on the weekends. A lot of moving people around, sometimes I feel unsafe because of the low amount of staff we have on the weekends. Some higher ups are more favorable over others. 

Hardest part of the job?
- the job is very easy in general but sometimes it’s gets overwhelming if you don’t have much staff to help you out and you get 30 patients requesting you to do something for them and at the point you are doing your best to keep your composure and try not to look irritated or burnt out.  

The most enjoyable part of the job?
- seeing a patient get better 
- working with a good crew 

Typical day or night shift for RNs is paperwork. All of it is paper charting. Majority of it will take up your time. They are always understaffed. Training is only 6 days and I see new grads run the unit on their own, which I believe is a red flag for error and unsafe work environment. You’re gonna be bombarded with admissions and discharges and plenty of paperwork. Patients complain that we don’t meet their needs. Other nurses just don’t care and ignore the patients and lack compassion, which reflects on patient satisfaction. I’ve seen nurses treat patients as if they were a burden. It was challenging but after several months working there I decided to find a better place to work. The most enjoyable part of the job is trying to help patients and understanding they’re mental illness and try to get them better. The hardest part of the job is having lack of staff, having way too many tasks for 1 RN and see patients feel dissatisfied and unwanted. I found some nurses to be very sweet and caring to other staff, but there are some who want to tear you down and feel like you want you to leave. Constantly listening to staff they wanna quit. The pay is decent, but not enough for what you do. 

Med pass, expectations of working as a mental health worker, performing rounds every 15 min when short staff, in addition to passing your medication, documentation and transcribing orders.
I learned the various kinds of Psych medications utilized. 
Management is HORRIBLE (CNO,Nursemanagers,Supervisors) The talk to you in a condescending tone. They expect you to do other staff jobs that are not part of your skill set for which you are hired for. Management plays a lot of favoritism. They give unit 2 staff $2 differential for making unit 2 their home unit and will not continue to pay other staff the $2 differential when floated to unit 2. Unit two is known to be more of a volatile unit amongst the patienta towards staff. 
Work culture is hostile, disrespectful and favoritism plays a major role in promotion opportunities. Hardest part of the job is working with disrespectful, dont know how to manage type of nurse management (CNO,Supervisors, Nurse Managers )I dont find anything enjoyable about this job other than the pay rate.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The patients are the best part of my job!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
We are often short staffed like I’m sure every hospital is especially acute care psych. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
My co-workers are friendly and helpful. Management is ok…they are more apt to point out negatives than reward positives. Overall though I would grade the culture as supportive . There is though a huge turnover in employees because it is a stressful job.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I pull and pass meds both routine and prn and respond to codes, patient interruptions are constant, I do a lot of active listening and building rapport with patients. We have not had to use physical restraints as long as I’ve worked there which is great. I do administer emergency injections when someone is dts or dto. It’s a 12 hour day. 1/2 hour lunch and I am rarely able to take breaks because of the reality of good patient care. I come into work and leave feeling good but tired. It’s all worth it though. I love my job.

There is an extremely high turnover rate at this facility making it very difficult AND dangerous to staff and patients working in a psychiatric setting with unstable patients. Management plays favorites and if you're not on their list they will either force you to leave on your own or just fire you if they're being nice. Policies are constantly changing and not properly addressed to the staff it pertains to. Important matters are NEVER addressed unless an incident has occurred forcing management and administration to look into the situation. People have been physically attacked and left with serious injuries due to understaffing and lack of care from management to protect their staff. You are replaceable in a heartbeat in their eyes. Minor efforts of including staff members and building camaraderie are given. You will be in trouble for doing your job by the book more than you will be praised and appreciated. Overall, it is not a place you will want to work.

Inadequate orientation for the RN's.  Supervisors are difficult to access and are often on "smoke breaks". There is a severe staff shortage with staff.  Often staff plans to call off on weekends to attend parties, etc. There is no consequence for calling off even when employees are a no-show.  The management targets certain employees to blame for problems even when multiple employees are involved.  Cell phones are not to be used on the units, but some employees use them without consequences. Certain employees have cell numbers for supervisors and schedulers, while others do not. The computers are old and not working well, but there is little IT support, and the documentation is still written vs electronic.  Much of the equipment is missing or broken and is not being replaced. There is favoritism between staff and management. Supervisors hold "CRH parties" with employees, leaving out the non-favored employees. 

This place is only good to learn some things and then leave for greener pastures. I was a dietary cook there. Cooking for patients and lazy, spoiled, self entitled staff who would never function in a professional healthcare hospital. First, if you work in the kitchen you have to put up with the Director of support services who's a racists, liar, back peddling buffoon.   

The director micro-manages, contradicts himself daily, then rewards lazy, jealous, envious workers for being his little teacher pets who snitch on people. These workers call in sick every week, are tardy every day, commit fraudulent time sheets, talk on the phone all day, steal food from the kitchen and patients mouths. In which they're lax attitude goes undisciplined. There is only two good people in that kitchen: the kitchen supervisor and one lead cook who are excellent team players and care about offering the patients an ideal and respectful service.

Use this place and bounce!

Most staff have been here for less than a year. Will preach about patient safety, and then put patients and staff in severely dangerous conditions. New graduate RN's expected to carry the knowledge and capabilities of a seasoned nurse. Extremely high turnover rate. They will force patients to room with highly aggressive patients to fill as many beds as they can, they will admit a patient to replace a discharging patient before they even leave. Constantly staying overtime to complete paperwork because you wouldn't be able to complete it otherwise---and then reprimand you because you're "taking advantage of it." Will get reprimanded for not finishing tasks they don't give you time to do

Business is this hospital's first priority over helping people. You will be asked to do unethical things such as accept patients when beds are not available and exaggerate documentation in order to justify keeping a patient longer (most of the time, against their will) and charging their insurance company for it. You tend to get promoted and praised based on how good of friends you are with management without regard to merit. It is constantly understaffed and you are constantly stressed and feel like drowning. A lot of the time, you won't be able to get a real break or lunch. Morale is terrible. Most employees with admit they are there for the paycheck or until something better comes around. Management is known to hold grudges and will work hard to find reason to terminate you. A lot of great workers are fired over menial things while some poor workers overstay their time. Turnover and burnout at this hospital is so high for all these reasons.
