I joined this agency hopeful for growth and meaningful opportunities, but my experience was ultimately frustrating and disappointing. Communication was consistently poor, calls went unanswered and messages were often ignored. There was clear favoritism, and I was told that to receive shifts, I had to ‘prove myself’.  It felt dehumanizing.

The culture seemed more focused on control and hierarchy than on fostering respect or teamwork. When I calmly and professionally voiced my concerns, I was met with retaliation. A coordinator questioned my reliability and removed me from a scheduled shift simply because I expressed frustration over the company’s poor communication and disorganized scheduling.

If you’re looking for a workplace where your voice is heard, your time is respected, and your efforts are valued, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Flexible hours pay is acceptable for the cases that I’ve worked . My concerns are the lack of communication, connecting to the right person , filling shifts and coordinators picking and choosing who they want to schedule. When the sole objective is to get the clients the care they need. I got a very distaste phone call from a coordinator being sassy and unprofessional  I called to and left a message for human resource and never received a phone call back. For this very reason I don’t feel valued as an employee with this company. Maybe the new CEO can make some changes  to enhance the core values of this company. 

Capital City Nurses is a fast paced environment where every position is required to roll up their sleeves and do hard work.  There are no "ivory tower" positions which I have found nice.  There historically has been a huge focus on culture and stability but the pandemic sidelined some big projects.  I was here during the pandemic and they worked to keep everyone employed which meant a lot to me.  This is a private pay organization and so if you are looking to make a lot of money and have amazing benefits - its maybe not going to be the right fit.  But if you are looking to learn new skills, be pushed, and make a difference - its a great place to work. 

Capital City Nurses has grown significantly over the past few years after being acquired by Care Advantage.  Not to say there haven't been bumps in the road due to the rapid growth, but as we align with Care Advantage and the management/support staff and structure is put into place we are only getting better at what we do best which is provide exceptional care for our clients and support our staff and caregivers.  If you are someone who has a desire to help others, loves a fast paced environment, and are a change maker, Capital City Nurses is the place for you.

You will have at least 65 clients at a time. Management says they will help but never will. Everything falls on you even when it has nothing to do with you. Even if they never taught you how to do it. Company is owned by an even bigger company and they put so much pressure on things out of anyone’s control. Even though the position is similar to case management, they want you to answer 30 calls a day. While managing 65+ clients, scheduling and administration work. You will be helping with calls not even in your region. Unrealistic expectations and management stop caring about the people there because of larger company.  BEWARE!!

My coordinator is very helpful we have a open mind environment and they have recognition on your work performance

When you get overwhelmed with more then 7 clients but everything us is good and very outstanding

Very good and very friendly love the work environment is very wonderful to work here 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I’m busy every day with my clients but Wednesday are my slow days

Best: there is always availability of work. Worst: coordinators need to do a better job with assigning the jobs to the caregivers. It's almost impossible to reach the coordinators on phone, just to book a shift all the time. Favoritism should stop.

Reaching the coordinators on phone to confirm or book a shift.

 No discrimination regarding culture. Work environment is conducive.

Getting new skills working on different clients with different needs.

None because it is day to day work.

The company advertises clients who need the set and caregivers pick what they can .

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work in a live in and the client is a fall risk so I do daily living activities and apply measures to prevent falls.

I have skills to work with class which has hospice and also Dementia I have experience for 10 years as well king to the dementia and Isima I know because they are not their self and also win sometimes not good I know how to comfort them

Each day I drive to patient's homes, sometimes one, sometimes three patients.
There are a lot of people out there in need of home health aides.
Working with the company coordinators is always a pleasure.
The hardest part of the job is when I lose a patient, who has gone away to the hospital. You tend to worry and you also don't get those work hours.
This job is very rewarding, and I make a lot of nice friends everyday.
