I've been with CareGivers America for almost three years and since day one I have been and continue to be proud of the work we do. We help seniors and individuals with disabilities remain in their own homes and their own communities, with dignity, safety and compassion. 

You couldn't ask for a better President and Vice President leading the company, both combine high level competence, but more importantly earn your respect and dedication vs demanding it. They lead by example and are always willing to pitch in, no matter what, no matter the issue, to ensure the individuals and their families who've placed their trust in us receive the best possible care. 

There is a true sense of teamwork between every department, regional office, and staff person, all with one goal: support our CareGivers, Nurses and Therapists who support our participants and patients. New ideas are encouraged, hard work is rewarded, and the company's high ideals are not simply said but actualized. 

Some days are hard, its healthcare, it's demanding and sometimes caring for others is personally draining work; there's a pandemic and we have a huge responsibility at the moment. And no company is perfect, but I can honestly say that at CGA there's always a feeling of accountability, of owning those mistakes and addressing them openly and practically because the work we do matters, the individuals we care for matter, and there's a shared sense of purpose, of responsibility to every single Pennsylvanian in our care. 

CareGivers America is objectively one of the best and highest quality home health care agencies in Pennsylvania and it feels good, it feels inspiring to be a part of this team -- I was proud on day one and even prouder almost three years later... 

This is probably the worst job I have ever had. I lack serious support and guidance while working with this company. Unfortunately there is not many positive things to report with CGA. I would not recommend working here in any position - DCW or Care Coordinator. 

I was not properly trained for this position while at the two day “training” at the headquarters. The woman who trained me was uneducated and was unable to answer questions.

While working at my office, I was left to learn on the spot with no support by my regional manager. While they are in the office, I am micromanaged and consistently given negative critiques with no advisement on how I can improve on the issue.

I am on-call regularly (unlike what was discussed at my interview) lacking any opportunity to have a personal life. What made this experience all the better is that we are not paid for on-call rotation, but rather “gifted” PTO time. But as I spend two weeks out of the month on-call, I fear that it would burden the other on-call employee as they would then have to cover my office.

The office that I work in struggles immensely at staffing DCWs and I am expected to fulfill the role of the recruitment manager as they are unable to do so themselves. I was told that the bonus, which is related to new hires, would be easily attainable - yet another exaggerated truth during my interview. While I am out completing the work of the recruitment manager, I am being reimbursed .25 to the mile... oh so convientely I was told that that would be .40 to the mile during my interview.

Lower than average pay, terrible benefits, Management only cares about profits, Employee turnover rate is shocking but not a surprise what do they expect when you do not value your employees, Pay time off is a joke, (It used to be great 5 paid days after 1 year not anymore), those incharge of the day to day handling (Payroll, scheduling, providing training) are under educated, under trained, and they will hire anyone who can pass a urine test. Raises  sure 1-2% sounds good but when you work like a dog, rack up mileage on your vehicle, increased oil changes at your own expense. Traveling sometimes 45 minutes to next consumer. If your lucky they will compensate you at minimum wage for your travel time.  
Your calls for help or resources are ignored, Shady paycheck system,(word of advise always check for their “mistakes” otherwise your checks will be short) Oh and plan to get paid only twice a month. If there is a holiday expect your pay up to 4 days later then payday. Payroll doesnt have enough time to make sure were paid in a timely manner.  Expect the office to hound you to cover call offs an expect you to drop everything your doing to arrive within an hour. They will make you feel guilty if you dont. Other then that You hear only from them when you screw up. Weekends are mandatory.     Turn over rate is insane.

Management does not respond to problems or help employees at all. The office personal know nothing about most clients or the other aides and are not involved other than filling the hour,they are unaware and do not care what goes on in a home with a client or other aides. Office workers talk about other workers and clients in front of people and to people. The office personal treat you nice as long as you are making their job easier and your mouth shut! Their only concern is getting someone in to fill hours,they do not care about the emploees at all!Not professional at all,uncapable of handling things properly and making their employees feel safe and valued.The company is deceiptful and do and say what they want to protect themselves,not their employees.The company will not offer help to you or information to you when needed and nobody will contact you back when you need them!They only talk to you and treat you nice when they want you to work or fill in!
If you want to be treated fairly,respected,and feel safe at all homes then find a job elsewhere.Good luck getting in touch with and hearing a response from higher up or the owners as well,apparently they do not care either... other than covering their own rear ends and keeping their money coming in!Worst company and experience i ever had in many years of being a cna and a hha and enjoying it

The pay is not great. You have to work a year before you can get benefits. Most people do not realize you gain PTO the day you start working and have so many hours accrued (is on the paper with all the discounts). Personalities differ from one client to the next and even from one day to the next with the same clients. As someone who worked during the height of the pandemic, I reminded myself often that my job in providing services as a DCW was the difference between staying home and being placed in a care facility where COVID has been known to run rampant for most, if not all, clients. Some supervisors were decent; others not so much. On one hand, the OT availability is nice to make some extra money; on the other, getting phone calls often for coverage can be annoying, but you can say no without being mandated. I would still be working for the company at the State College office, but life changes occurred that required financial consideration. You have to love the clients more than the money, but you have to be able to afford to live and support a family (if you have kids). 

Overall, I love my job.  I absolutely love working with my client.  Her and I get along so well.  We are always laughing, joking around, and telling each other funny stories.  There are times I find myself not wanting to leave.  The only issues I have with the company itself are that they don't communicate very well, with aides or clients.  When they pay you for an hour when you show up and your client isn't there, it was not stated that it is far less than what your hourly rate is, same with trainings.  All other companies in this field that I have worked for have another aide with you on your first day with someone new to you, to kind of show you the ropes and what not.  This company does not.  They give you a name and address and a list of tasks, that not all apply to that particular client.  They do not have a designated spot in the home for a care plan...if thats what you want to call what they have.  All other care plans I've dealt with are full binders with all the information in that you need about the client, including likes and dislikes, there's is literally a sheet of paper.  Other than all that....its a decent company to work for.

Working at Caregivers America (now Modivcare) used to be relatively stress free so you didn't mind the low pay. 
However, over time, the management shows their true colors. Clear favoritism, no  opportunity to advance, and terrible benefits. 
They do have a great ethics and compliance policy...that no executive, manager, or HR rep will actually follow. 
You will be lied to by administrators regularly. HR is a complete joke - Report a serious concern? Expect them to reward the bad behavior. 
Your job responsibilities will change often with no incentive or raise while administrator's get promoted left and right.  
No reason to pay for insurance through them - no provider will accept it!
They teach coordinators how to delete "bad" reviews on Google which are actually just the truth. It is a shock that the state has not closed this place. 
Weekly pay is a pro - if you actually get it. It may come late...and if you're a caregiver it may never come at all.


i worked for this company for a while and i thought it was a match made in heaven. After a few months I realized that the office staff is full of scammers. they cheat employees and state paid funding. the company, though family owned, only cares about their family. they treat their employees with little respect and do not allow you to take time off with out making you feel guilty. Managment will lie to you about what work they have, the client type, and the hours availiable. they have terrible communication and have sent employees to homes that cancelled services. they will not pay you for their mistakes in scheduling or communication. the turnover rate is very high in this company for obvious reasons.
the owner is on a State Board against fraud, but this company is one of the most fraudulent companies i've ever encountered.
the only enjoyable part of my job was meeting the people whom i helped daily. and when i left the company, that was the hardest part.

There is a lot of hours and consumers are wonderful. Management and coordinators do not work as a team. Consumers complain constantly,when reported nothing is done for these people. They fire and rehire dcw just so they have coverage. No team work what so ever. Management never takes fault in anything. The dcws who take off and not show up for clients seem to get no consequences, bad behavior is over looked. No room for advancement. Its mainly a click type work place. God forbid if you speak up for yourself and the consumers you end up being casted out. Consumers have nothing nice to say about this company mainly because they say there gonna fix many of the complaints but never do, basically consumers are only told what they want to hear and nothing's never done. Best thing I ever done was leave. Currently I'm working for an awesome company and I was offered a better job position. Glad I made a change.

Typical day starts with reading e-mails from office, communicating any changes required with schedule. The hardest part of job is the traveling from one client to another, the best thing I learned about this job was patient care. The management was great. As a caregiver you had to work by yourself, it was at the client resident. The hardest part of my job was meeting and going to new clients home, and not knowing what would be there personality. The most enjoyable part of my job as a caregiver was caring for my patient, making them feel comfortable.The staff is friendly and always there to help if you have any questions. They have great communication skills and their clients were a pleasure to work with. I would recommend the company to anyone who is looking for a job in home health. I hope to someday work as an RN for them in the future!
