Promised full time hours, didn't even get that, maybe 15 hours a week. Then you are traveling 58 minutes to work and far distances for just a 3 or 4 hour shift. Then after you get car trouble basically they tell you no call offs in 90 days, and call uber. You get there the first day and then the next day your car is in shop and you are told u are taken off schedule all because you couldn't make a 4 hour shift that is 50 minutes away from your house! Gee I wonder why you have car trouble,lol! Then they say they switched payroll, so everyone's bank account cancelled direct deposit is cancelled and come get your paycheck at work. Probably because they didn't pay the payroll company. Then you get a personal check, so if you don't have a bank account luckily i did you have to pay $10 to cash. Then all your certifications you have dont mean nothing. They hire anyone who knows nothing about the job, and pay u only $9.50 an hour and you get to work around uneducated home health aides who try to act like they know more than you. I got hired making $14 an hour at the hospital to make up for the sorry hours they give me and I'm told their job comes first and they try to let me go. So funny I have never had a company tell me I couldn't work other places. Like you don't pay my bills! I have one day off a week and every other weekend off I could have supplemented that for more income, but its all good I quit and thank god i have a staffing agency I got hired at prior to them and I can use that for extra hours. Hey what measure you measure will be measured back to you. You want to run a company that way word travels. The clients and employees see and hear about your unprofessionalism and will leave your company! No clients, no aides, no company, its that simple. Go to college and take effective speaking or a communication class and learn how to effectively communicate with others! Yeah don't waste your time people learn from my mistake. I tell the truth no lie, I just wanted to warn others!

Worst job experience I have ever had. Expect 0 to no training. Was thrown into answering the office phone within the first couple hours of my first demo shift. Frequently sent to client homes to fill in due to staff shortages even though I had never worked with the client and had no idea how to care for them. Long and hard days. Was told during my interview that sometimes you might have to stay late or come in early but then you’d get a shorter shift the next day. Frequently coming in at 8 or earlier and staying past 5 with no lunch break. There was never a break or shorter shifts, the burnout was intense. Then even when you’re home your phone is blowing up with work related concerns, and overtime and at home work was frequently unpaid. Sent miles and miles away in snowstorms to care for clients but the long drives were never taken into account as paid work, even when you’re driving 45 minutes to an hour one way. On call weekends every third week where you don’t even get to sleep since your phone is blowing up so much. Passed out for a couple of hours after being awake for 24 straight hours on an on call weekend and woke up to a call getting screamed at by management for missing an email. Never felt so unsupported at a job. Management was overly demanding and extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. Racist and sexist comments were frequently thrown around the office in a “joking way” but they weren’t funny and made me and the other care manager extremely uncomfortable. Don’t waste your time. There’s so many caregiving and office jobs out there. Go somewhere that doesn’t exploit and disrespect their staff. They’re able to get away with what they do because they are a small family run business that can do whatever they want. You have the disadvantage of having no HR department to back you up and management can run a dictatorship.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, I love being able to spend time with my patients, truly focus on them and their needs without being interrupted by call lights, telephone calls, doctors, therapists, etc. I liked the time in the car between patients to eat, decompress, listen to the radio, and be alone. I felt like I had the time to devote to them to help them adjust their lifestyles, rather than throw some pills at them and run on to the next one. It's not for everyone, though, and while we may gripe about our jobs, it's really true that the worst day in home health is better than the best day in a facility. 

It takes a certain kind of person to succeed in home health: excellent clinical skills, excellent critical thinking and decision making abilities, organization beyond all measure, flexibility to adjust to the needs of patients and the agency's staffing needs, and a sense of humility. If you are set in your ways, don't like to learn new ways to do things, always want everything done perfectly, and expect to have a set schedule, then you will fail miserably. You will have hugs and threats. You will be offered all kinds of foods, including some that you may never have seen before. (Always accept food if offered. You don't have to eat it, take it with you and tell them you'll eat it later. They are expressing their gratitude, accept it gracefully!) You will see mansions and you will see hovels. You have to accept people as they are, warts and all, and meet them where they are. You have to be humble, you are in their home. You have the ability and power to change lives, use it responsibly.

I cannot imagine doing anything else and enjoying it as much as I do home health.

My experience with Caring Senior Service of Gainesville has been extremely disappointing, especially in the way they treat their caregivers. In a field where compassion and respect should be the foundation, I’ve found the opposite here. Caregivers are the backbone of any senior care organization, yet at this location, they are often undervalued, spoken to dismissively, and not treated as the skilled, hard-working professionals they are.

The lack of dignity and respect is noticeable in both day-to-day interactions and company policies. Instead of feeling supported and appreciated, caregivers are left feeling stressed, unacknowledged, and replaceable. This attitude not only hurts staff morale but can also impact the quality of care seniors receive.

Good caregiving requires heart, dedication, and trust — and that starts with an employer who values their people. Unfortunately, Caring Senior Service of Gainesville fails in this most basic responsibility. I hope they take serious steps to change their culture and start treating caregivers with the professionalism and appreciation they deserve.

When I first started working with them it was awesome, but after a few months of working with this company you find out the pay is extremely low, management isn't understanding or caring towards employees, if a situation comes up in life and you need to call out for the day or even a few hours they end up cutting your weekly hours, they used to help their employees get to clients homes if it was to far or if needed but they stopped doing that completely, they throw last minute shifts at you AT LEAST once a day (a lot of times more than just once a day) and if you can't pick up this last minute shift they cut your weekly hours. The whole time I've been with this company I have only called off once for something rather important and they stopped letting me know about any available shifts, so for the past, almost, 2 months they won't give me any hours but yet they won't fire me or anything like that because they don't want people to get unemployment benefits from them. This company was amazing at first but they changed very fast, a lot of things that were helpful for the employees. The management is also very uncompassionate, not understanding, and they lag on completing duties for their clients.

I have worked for Caring Senior Service for 7 years and they have always treated me with respect and made sure my hours stay at full time. I get to be the difference in a seniors life every day that I get the amazing opportunity to be a part of each clients care team. I love Caring Senior Service of Boulder!!!!! The managers are amazing and communicate with me when I need help or have questions. Pat the owner of the company goes above and beyond for all of his employees. This is the best Caregiver job I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of!!!! They find the best fit client for me every time. I love the matching process it works out for me to get a client that I have the skill set for and the best personality match every time. This helps me keep my hours and consistency with my schedule.  

I started this job in October 2025. While the team was initially welcoming, training was disorganized and the chain of command was unclear, making it difficult to know who to report to.

In late November, the CEO’s son, Ewan Salter, joined as the new agency director despite having no prior experience in any management position.. Since then, the work environment declined tremendously. There was a noticeable lack of professionalism, frequent micromanagement, and a tendency to take credit for others’ ideas. Communication was extremely inappropriate at times, with dismissive or backhanded remarks that are not addressed when confronted.

Overall, the compensation does not match the workload or expectations. I would not recommend this position while current leadership remains in office..

I've worked for a few home healthcare companies over the years and Caring is by far the best. The only thing ever constant in this industry is change. That being said, I have found nothing but support from other caregivers and management.  

Hours are long, employees get sick (we do often work for sick clients), and needs change. At this location management goes out of their way to accommodate requests for time off, last minute emergencies and the balance between work and home. I feel like part of a care team, not an employee. We are all here to care for someone and the team atmosphere only lends to positive outcomes. 

The industry itself doesn't compensate employees well and that holds true at Caring too.

Omg the employees are the worst. They dont care about the clients. They make it a nightmare to work. Management is the worst. They make things worst. The verbal abuse the employees is none I have ever seen in my life. The managers not all yell and scream at you. They know who to pick on. Management dont care. As long as you are a body and can fill in they dont care. It is filthy in the houses. They have their favorites. So if you are given a schedule from HR you wont get it. They love the drama and dont stop it. They back stabbing is the worst to the point it is a scary place to work. You may or may have to fight and management dont care. 

Overall experience has been good with this company,but the
Owners operate their company with very few employees ,which adds a lot of daily stress and overtime without compensation.

The most enjoyable part of this job was consulting with medical professionals and  individuals and their families to provide personal assistance to their loved ones needing caregiving assistance after hospitalization or rehabilitation. After helping with consulting and creating a care plan and providing caregiving service to see the outcomes for the client that has improvement and rehabbed at home to have a happy ,healthy ,life .
