Overall, low stress job when compared to regular hospital nursing jobs. A LOT OF PAPER CHARTING. The only computer charting is scanning medications. There is no Pyxis or Omnicell at the pediatric campus. Medications are contained in old school nursing carts. It’s terrible. Computers are extremely slow. Management always wants you to come in. Makes it very hard to separate work from personal life. Sometimes management makes you feel like you’re just a body. Just to be fully transparent, management claims they will come in to work if we’re short but I’ve NEVER seen that happen even when there aren’t even enough nurses to staff all of the units. This just makes me feel not cared about because they want us all to take turns floating but they never help out the way they claim they will. They call on days off frequently. They offer bonuses, but in all honest my personal time/life is more important than a little extra money. There’s virtually no job advancement. If you would like to try psychiatric nursing then this is a good place to start but that’s the only way I would recommend going to work here. The turnover rate for nurses and mental health technicians is horrendously high. I’ve seen tons and tons of both quit within months. Another huge problem is aggressive patients. There are some patients that get admitted that are violent. Most of the time there aren’t enough staff members to contain these types of patients which has led to many staff members being injured. Tons of staff are ALWAYS late. NOTHING is ever done about it. Management said they were going to do something about it but it has never happened. In my opinion, it never will unless something drastically changes. If you want to be late to a job (perfect excuse to get breakfast or Starbucks on your way to work, or lunch or something lol) and nothing happen to you then this is the perfect place to work. There are certain staff members that get special treatment. I could go on and on about the cons of working here. Now that I think about it there are A LOT more cons than pros of working here. I don’t want to sound like it’s the worst place to work because overall I’ve enjoyed working here. I just feel like I’m losing a ton of my skills and knowledge because I almost never use my medical side of thinking anymore. The pay is decent. There is a high level of mental stress at certain times. Overall, I would not really recommend working here. 

When I was hired on there was great team work. we pulled together to get things done. help each other out if one was in a crises. then we would pull together as a team.
Then  corporate took over and there was a change in management. less team work because supervisors positions and their job stipulations were changed as well. Patient nurse ratio at times was 16 to 1. They stated that they were in compliance because the supervisor was available and that it made the ration in proper compliance. Yes there was a supervisor however it was shared with another unit. I was required to get report, take all of the vitals because RN's were only allowed to take vital signs. During this 30 minutes following report I was to take vital signs, and have it on the computer. get 5 p.m. medicines set up. and be ready to hold a group for the patients. The group was to last 1 hour. The problem was that i had diabetics. that my nursing common sense said that I needed to check sugar levels on a patient and one time it was in the 400's I stopped to give the appropriate care of the diabetic. the supervisors concerns in the office was upset because i had stopped the group and there were no group being held. There were cameras and corporate would see that we were not holding group. I had offered to hold groups at 6 p.m. after dinner and evening meds. allowing me to get all the things that needed to be done before group. This would also allow me to get a handle on the unit get it settled before group. The response of corporate was that it was 6 p.m. group should be the exception not the rule. 
we were not to admit brain injury patients or MR. due to the fact that they could not benefit from groups. we were also not to admit medically unstable patients. however I found that not to be the case as well.
Some of the Nurses and supervisors were very good and caring and professional yet their hands were tied as well. due to he stipulations on their job.

I worked here for almost a year, and came away from it with PTSD. 60% of the patients are violent and disturbing- especially the children. Administration will tell you that they care about your well being and mental health, but they do not- they cannot afford to. For example, during my training they told me that if you are overwhelmed on a unit and need to be removed for your own mental and physical safety, they would send someone to take you off the unit. That is a lie, as I asked for help due to such an intense unit that I could barely keep myself from crying hysterically (At least 3 times) and they ignored me. They simply cannot afford to replace people on a unit due to severe understaffing and poor use of the staff they do have. It isn't that the management staff there chooses not to care, they just do not have the means to care for their techs and nurses like they claim. 
Also be aware, a large portion of the time you will not get a lunch break. And they will blame you for it. The majority of my time there I did not receive a lunch break due to a unit being in absolute chaos, OR not having enough staff to keep in ratio. They will ask you to break ratio (a company policy) so that you get your 30 minute break, as that is the law. I personally knew several staff members who would clock out for their lunch only to return to continue working so that they could keep the unit under control and not get yelled at by management. 
If you are harmed by a patient and/or during a hold, they will not help you and blame the incident on your for not doing your job properly. All that being said, I did learn quite a bit about different manifestations of different mental illnesses, and there were some wonderful patients. But all in all it was not worth the nightmares, stress, strain, and ultimately PTSD.
I just want people to be properly informed about what they are getting into, as I was not.

The best part about working at this company was the co workers! Majority of the workers are genuine people and overall chill.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the manger’s constantly asking me to pick up extra shifts despite me already telling them i couldn’t. Also the supervisors that I worked with for night shifts at the adult location never would listen to me making suggestions about the patient which in turn put me and my co workers at risk. Safety didn’t feel like a concern. Another stressful part was the disgustingly filthy environment at the adult location. Lastly the lack of adequate training was extremely stressful. I was put in positions I didn’t feel I was ready for after only two or three days of training and I was also put in a position where a new employee wasn’t trained well, and she didn’t report an incident that later caused me to be concerned for my safety with a patient.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This is by far the most toxic work environment I’ve ever experienced. The supervisors would literally talk mess about other co workers in front of staff, I was constantly being talked to in a passive aggressive manner, and was belittled in one on one conversations as well as in front of colleagues.

What is the best part of working at the company?
This is a dangerous company.  Techs and nurses get attacked by patients monthly. This company provides no shields or protection at nurses station, which the patients just sit and spit on you. 

No one ever shows up to their shift and your left there to cover. 

Your license is in deep jeopardy with lack of people scanning, using pixis correctly, and or medications laying absolutely everywhere. 

It has great pay, and that is because management is young and feel into the spots by elimination and have no idea and work by trial and error, dangerous environment, and over worked! 

This is not a place you work for longer than a month before you run out the door with the patients! 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dangerous environment and lack of policy and procedures or any education that is standard! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone is against each other and no team players,  you have a entire hall to yourself or more and patients can and do attack you and spit on you. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You clean up errors from previous shift or lack of work and add your work, way over patient ratio, give meds, teach groups, do charting  and give meds again. Bathroom is not an option.

I worked at Cedar Ridge for over a year.  The first time I got hurt I was put in a choke hold by a patient.  The nurse stood there and did nothing to help me.  I ended up having to fall and pull myself out of it and the charge nurse came down and apologized to the kid.  She never even looked at me as she was comforting him.  Once the adrenaline quite pumping I was unable to move my left side.  The upper management did not care.  I was required to finish my shift. I was out for 2 months.  The second time I got hurt I was on a one to one and they knew this pt could only work with certain people,  and the first chance she got she attacked me.  She knocked my feet out from under me and hyperextended my knee.  She took chunks of my skin out and I was expected to just change places with some one and finish my shift even though I needed to be in the er.  I decided not to go back at this point.  Yet two weeks later I got a text saying one of our techs had a broken arm and that we needed to ban together as a family.  I am sorry family.  Where was this family when I was getting beat up.  And for the top brass to tell me that they don't care.  That really got me because I loved that place and would have done anything for them.  Not anymore.

executive management in constant flux. no clear direction or distinction no real leaders. no accountability toxic culture and no new ideas allowed only regressive and backward thinking individuals apply. my department had best coworkers and teamwork until executives restructured us out of position. if you want a plan or want to feel safe and have patients feel safe then don't work here and don't send your children, adolescents or at risk youth here they will not receive help they will however watch copious amounts of television and movies probably inappropriate movies. lots of good ole boy networking going on here too. change occurs here but only goes backwards rather than forwards.

Enjoy working in a positive environment where staff enjoy their jobs and enjoy working with our clients.
I enjoy learning about our clients and what is the best method to resolve their emotional needs.
I do my best to include all staff as the team and that we all have a decision in out comes for our patients needs.
Want and requests input from each staff on what they would like to see for the clients best interest.  
Working with staff members that do not like there jobs.
Seeing our client improve and become happy and healthy by learning new ways at dealing with life on life's terms.

The residents are are so friendly and caring, Not so much of the Management

Workers called in whenever they wanted you would get stuck with no help they don't have a Hoist lift and there residents that are heavy

Stressfully, unmanageable, Business management has a bad attitude all the time

Call in's,no Nurse there always having residents that need to see nurse asking you when the nurse is coming in.

The co workers that did not get involved with the 'in crowd'.

Never knowing whether your job was safe or not. They were firing people left and right for non-existent reasons. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. If you like a place where the 'in crowd' geta promoted regardless of their work performance while the ones working their butts off get demoted and fired, then this is yhe place for you.
