Management is very unprofessional. My co workers are all immature children who I don't like and I bet they don't care for me to much in return. This is just a place for me to work until I can find something that pays a little better and gives me health, dental and vision benefits. Which are very important to me. The reason I say the management team is unprofessional is, I have another job its only Monday thru Friday from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. I told the person doing the schedule at the time this information. She said it would be no problem. For a few weeks they gave me the times I needed. But the third week they played me and gave me a few days at times I couldn't be at cedarbrook and the second job at the same time. So I asked the woman that put the times together for everyone. If I could get a change to the schedule. She told me she couldn't make changes to schedule. So I had to ask a co worker, Which mind you I really HATE doing because this particular guy is I don't know what his problem is. I just know when he opens his mouth I have no idea of what he is saying. No shade everyone else says the very same thing about this particular worker. But luckily he did me this favor. Because I was willing to pay him in order to not have to quit this second Job. But anyway  the lady making the schedule every week acted like I Didn't tell her about my second job. They have another Cedarbrook in Northville, which is like a 6 or 10 minute drive for me. But I have no idea how I can transfer there because their is no clear directions on how to do so. Which is ridiculous in my opinion. I know of two people who waited a year in order to be transferred over to Cedarbrooke in Northville. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS.

Nice fancy facility but internally it’s just lousy! 
Residents pay far too much to live there and not get the proper attention they need. Especially in memory care. Residents were left for hours not changed , sitting in soiled clothing or offered water. Staff are rude to residents that had more advance Alzheimer’s due to lack of patience and compassion. 
As a former employee, they claim such grandiosity and lure you in with higher wages but after even the initial orientation, it goes way way down hill from there! The orientation/ training is 3-4 days of virtual videos. Not 1 day of an actual live person sits with you to onboard you properly. And after that they want you to sign the employee handbook agreeing that everything was provided to you with companies policies , procedure’s & protocol which is never even addressed. They give you a schedule that you basically have no input on & stick you on the floor to train/ shadow for 1-2 days before they “through you to the wolves “ even on units you’ve never even stepped foot on or learned / met residents. Poor scheduling for staff in general, constant call offs short staff and then constantly being bribed with bonus’s to work over or pick up different shifts. Communication with immediate supv & management was misconstrued within minutes of approaching circumstances. I would not place my family member here nor would I recommend working here. If you’re out of balance with the flow of their seemingly chaotic & contradictive structure , you’re targeted for it and even forced out

I was here for almost a year and it started off okay and seemed promising. The best part of the job is surely the residents i cared for. 

Managers are non-existent and makes it obvious that they were above us because we are only… care givers… It burns you out when you give everything you have, work through a pandemic, holidays away from my kids and get treated bad on top of it. The vaccine which seemed very forceful by management.  

No leadership around when needed. While care givers floor is struggling to take care of the very high equity residents the higher managers are gossiping over fellow employees.

Leadership would have extravagant lunches while the workers providing the care received nothing, not even a pat on the back.  

corp vp would get their nails done in their office while supposedly working. Very unprofessional higher managers and its sad because the owners don't have a clue, nor do they truly care. For the residents sake, I hope change comes, major changes in leadership needs to happen. The ones who suffer at the end of the day are unfortunately the residents because of how high the turnover is. The culture has changed and people are no longer happy there. 

The work itself is not hard work. You have to have a passion to work with the elderly. The management is what has hurt this place. Until the owners who supposedly opened their communities with their parents in mind, realize that the people they have "leading" are truly failing and unfit.  

While I can’t speak for other locations, nor can I speak for other departments, stay away from the Plymouth location, nursing department. They will find any reason to fire you, unless you are clocking 80 hours a week because they’re always so short staffed. They have impossible expectations, and only care about you when you’re doing them a favor. Don’t expect a work-life balance because it’s non existent. They’ll blow your phone up on your off days, begging you to come in…. While they are enjoying their off days. The culture that the management team has created here is just mean, unwelcoming, unsupportive, and truly disgusting. It is disappointing coming from such a nice facility. It is almost abusive, the mind games and disrespect that comes from those that are supposed to be leaders - they treat you like you’re nothing more than gum on the bottom of a shoe… but then expect you stay positive and motivated. I have worked in fast food and didn’t feel as disrespected and belittled as I do here (by multiple managers). 

Cedarbrook Bloomfield, was one of the best and worst jobs I’ve had. The residents are a  delight for the  most part and the job is fairly easy when you get  ttyhe hang of it. However, they barely train you, you have to figure most things out on your own and you’re blamed for not knowing things that  you were never taught. Upper level management are very unpleasant except for a select few. Overall everyone was very unprofessional. It was like being in high school all over again. I was literally fired because a manager and a few of her favorite employees didn’t like me so they started writing me up over things I never did without my knowledge to have probable cause for my termination. The pay is adequate but the environment is poor. The other locations might be different but I would definitely not recommend this job to anyone

The pay does NOT match the expectations of this job. In the last months at this job there was hardly a time where I was able to take my break due to being understaffed. They say they are hiring people however it is quite common for there to be less than 3 caregivers to the whole floor. Residents in the memory care unit cannot get their proper care like this. Throughout all the personal care you're responsible for, management wants you to put a smile on your face and pretend everything is fine for the families. Also there are residents that NEED behavioral medication whose families will not approve, therefore are EXTREMELY abusive and there is rarely enough staff to team up for each resident like this. 

You are given three days of training. Unfortunately, due to understaffed issues, I was given only one.  So, previous nurse experience will guide you.  You are in charge of 2-3 caregivers per floor.  And given the situation of call-offs, you may need to go on the floor and provide direct care to the residents.  Be careful if placed on midnight shift, you will often times be the sole nurse supervisor responsible for an entire building of Memory Care, Assisted Living, and Independent Living residents.  Sometimes, my nights were very busy with a side of frustration.

The residents are the best part about working at Cedarbrook. The managers are terrible. They are unprofessional and don’t listen to concerns. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They overwork people and show favoritism. The care staff is allowed to sit around and the nurses sit in color for hours on end while the residents are ignored

Cedarbrook has a mean girl culture. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
it was very stressful as some people are allowed to sit around, and others are required to work extra hard. Managers, sit and talk in the back office all day and order themselves food and talk poorly about the residents

This company would be amazing if the Management was more professional. The D.O.N is not professional and doesn't care about his team. Everyone is leaving because no one listens nor address concerns staff has. You can't come to anyone in confidence because they all are buddies in Management and the D.O.N and scheduler need to be retrained. In the last week half the staff including myself are leaving. This is the worst place to work. The benefits are amazing but the management team does nothing, they have no meetings for caregivers and always short staffed. They don't care about their employees and everyone is over worked. I don't recommend this company to anyone that's why everyone is leaving. 

New Management stepped in late last year (Sept 2019). The building is ran poorly. If you voice any concerns to management your reprimanded, and should now worry if you’ll have a job. The DON state’s she very religious and fair but is pure evil. Mc director is rude and racist. Discriminates against any staff with an accent. Always talks down to staff.  AL director is a brand new nurse with with NO clinical experience. She dodges families and often delicates her work unto other staff. She never follows through with anything and never available in person or by phone. Families are often complaining about the facility. Resident who are not appropriate to move to certain units are moved although the staff is not equipped to provide proper care.
