Cherry Health System (CHS) is dedicated to honoring patients who are often marginalized or lost in traditional healthcare environments. No organization is perfect, and Cheer Health is not afraid identify gaps and fix them.  Changing healthcare landscape and funding platforms require flexibility and operational agility which can sometimes feel chaotic to team members in any health care setting. To prevent any confusion or disconnect, CHS is actively establishing/using consistent communication tools to share updates around the healthcare landscape, organizational strategy, and department operations. With more than 20 locations across Michigan, continuous assessment and response are crucial to Cherry Health's success; we are building systems and processes with this in mind. 

I am honored to be part of the Cherry Health team and to serve alongside so many who've dedicated their lives to service and respect of those often forgotten or dismissed. I'm a recent addition to the team and have appreciated the warm, welcoming culture.

I would say that the pay here is decent but could be higher. PTO policy seemed great at the beginning but then having to use PTO for absolutely everything is not fun and not leaving much for you to use for long vacation time. They don't approve time off unless you have PTO to cover it and are often given corrective actions if you miss work with no pto to cover your days, So the work/life balance is not good. There is no good communication with the supervisor often finding ourselves wondering what She's doing instead of helping the team or when you have a question it takes hours or sometimes there is no answer. when I asked about a raise never got a response. getting them to pay me my bilingual pay took over a year after asking multiple times. when I asked them to take me off Spanish calls that's when they decided to do something. asked about back pay and was denied. The team is too small to be a call center which means nonstop calls for weeks at times and are expected to finish multiple tasks ( e.i. voicemail, Tasks, New patient emails etc..) or there will be corrective actions if you fail to complete what you're asked.  Employees feel overworked and not cared about and they definitely don't appreciate the work you do. this is my last week and am relieved to be leaving this place. recommend really thinking about applying here, especially at the registration department ( intake Specialist position) hope this helps you! 

Expect  to train yourself- there is no orientation. Tech equipment is glitchy and non-functional more often than not- expect to know IT very well. You’ll be calling them regularly. Compensation is low, forget raises- they don’t exist. You’ll be expected to take on  “ extra” with no “ extra” compensation. Management will listen, but no action. Needs will fall on deaf ears or deflected. For nurses- more playing Secretary than Nursing- expect to do your own scheduling, rescheduling, filing, moving files around, uploading and downloading 65+ patient documents to charts, giving a 1995 tech vibe which makes day to day functioning slow, tedious, and unnecessarily time consuming not to mention is more valued than actual face to face patient time. More care about what the State of Michigan sees/audits than anything else. Job Insecurity- staff mtgs often mentioning budget cuts, grants ending, jobs cut…your paycheck depends on whatever the Government is doing at the time. 
Not enough money to keep work environment clean daily and with a comfortable temperature- especially in the winter  It’s a problem when staff are regularly wearing their coat, hat, or sitting with blankets across their laps at their desks. (!)  
Overall, not enough positives to outweigh the majority negatives. 



I recently had the unfortunate experience of working at cherry health , and it was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I joined, I realized this job was a terrible fit. The management was incredibly disorganized, leaving employees in constant confusion and uncertainty. Communication was practically non-existent, with crucial information being withheld or shared at the last minute, leading to unnecessary stress and missed deadlines.

The work environment was toxic and demoralizing. Colleagues were pitted against each other, fostering an atmosphere of competition rather than collaboration. The workload was unreasonably high, with no regard for work-life balance. Moreover, the company's disregard for employee well-being was apparent, as there were no opportunities for growth or professional development.

To make matters worse, the compensation was far below industry standards, offering no incentive to endure the daily challenges. Overall, my time at cherry health was an absolute disaster, and I strongly advise anyone considering a job here to think twice. Save yourself the misery and explore better opportunities elsewhere.

They are willing to offer couple hundred bucks to refer a friend to work there but are not focused on keeping current employees happy. The ONLY benefits of this job is that it is a paycheck and I get the hours I want on the days I want. Supervisor and director is all about the constant over your shoulder, micromanagement. My supervisor, answers your questions with a question, leaves you constantly confused with an excuse of “That’s just the way it’s been”. Cherry Health is great when it comes to providing services for the underprivileged but that also means company does not have a lot of money. They are very tight on their budget. Except of course the higher ups have nice offices. They reward staff with allowing to wear jeans occasionally on a Friday. Oh and if you really want to grow in your career, this wouldn’t be the place. You can stay in your same position for years and go unnoticed in your cubicle, if that is what you like then apply. But I would think twice before applying here.

RUN, don’t walk from this company!  The culture at Cherry Health is; if you don't like it, there's the door. They have lost so many good people. There is no trust within this organization.  There is not any motivation to change anything for the better. HR runs to leadership and tells them everything that was discussed in confidence. Decisions are made on an upper management level without any input from employees and it's the managers job to implement it, whether it makes sense or not. There is an incredible amount of favoritism, if you challenge anything, you will be made to look bad or that you're not doing your job. Management and providers are not set up for success, they are pitted against each other. Sad, the people that work there, chose to be there for the mission, but they are driven out. The patients suffer because of this, the lack of quality and consistent care.

I'm currently an employee, I have been to different sites just to realize they're all the same. The work schedule is awful, they expect you to do tons of work for the pay that you receive. Benefits are decent but not good enough for all the stress they put you through. They are always short staffed and management sucks. Management and supervisors don't care about their employees and don't do anything to solve the everyday arising problems. Some of the employees don't do their job, the good employees are expected to pick up the slack for the lazy coworkers, supervisors and managers are aware and don't do anything to help out with the situation. Lots of good MAs leave very often due to lack of comprehension and lack of help. I'm currently looking for a new job because I had enough of this company. To all the applicants out there, don't waste your time with this company.

First time working in a clinic setting. Everything went just fine until I got to  my home clinic (montcalm county) to actually start working. The site team lead is very mean. Unfair and demands meaningless tasks. She likes control. She resists team effort and actually likes a divide. She talks poorly of her other team members behind their backs. But its no surprise, I guess shes always been like that. She micromanages and is very manipulative. BE CAREFUL. Multiple issues were brought by many people to HR, yet they do NOTHING. This goes years back. HUGE TURNOVER rate. The site supervisor AS WELL AS the supervisor for all the dental clinics are downright mean, harassing and they bully. I have 17+ experience and have never gone thru anything as bad as this. My self esteem and self worth crushed by this FQHC. Shame on them. I've taken action and reporting through all legal entities. 
They do have an attractive benefit package. Kind of

Great mission and vision, key values are spot on and followed well at the staff level and lower management levels, great opportunities for growth in skills and furthering education, can be stressful dealing with changes that come from outside entities being an FQHC (federally qualifies health center), room for lateral movement due to the different sites all over Kent County and throughout Michigan and also upward movement as well. I have served in multiple roles in my time and learned much from the different managers and co-workers if have worked with. Of all the jobs I've had I have never felt more supported, encouraged, trusted, and believed in than while with Cherry Health. All jobs have their pros and cons but for me the pros category holds the most weight.

A typical day working at Cherry Health within my role as a Community Health worker was to check past emails and voicemails from patients or co-workers. Next, I would prep for the day. This can include completing huddle sheets for providers and or calling patients from my case load to follow up on goals they set. If patients had any medical concerns I would send a task over to a triage nurse for them to follow u with patient. Or if patient had a community resource concern, I would follow up with them immediately. Over my time at Cherry Health I have learned a great deal regarding community resources and how many individuals are unaware of what is out there.The most enjoyable part of my job is hearing patients success stories on whether they received housing, employment, or anything that assisted with their social determinants of health.
