•	Interacted with client groups to determine user requirements and goals. Utilized Rational Unified Process (RUP) to configure and develop process, standards, and procedures and create a Business requirement Document (BRD).

BTW in the "Rate this Company"  question above I am assuming that one Star means Unsatisfactory because that is how I feel about  about each category.


I would never work at ACE Insurance/Chubb again.  All my comments below are regarding ACE because I only worked for Chubb approx. 5 - 6 months.
.Chubb is a horrible place to work..Their benefits stink, their Management are full of themselves.  If you are responsible for a specific task and the Upper Manager wants to make a change to how that task will be performed , you, the person that does that task is never asked about the change they are going to make to see if the person who actually does the tasks thinks about the change.

Your Team Leader who has been involved in all the meetings regarding the changes calls you into his/her office and tells you this is going to be how we are going to perform this task from now on.  Then you have a question about the new way and the Team Leader is never around and you can't get your work done.

The AVP has 3 Team Leaders:

One of the Team Leaders really knows his/her job but has a bad attitude about others speaking too loud.  This Team Leader is originally from New York and when she talks everyone can hear her loud and clear.

The 2nd Team Leader has been there since the office opened.  Instead of a Team Leader she wants to be friends with her team members plus if you have a problem:

a) you can't find him/her - he/she is never at her desk

b) if you give her something to do you better put it in writing with a cc to the AVP because her/his email Inbox is so full your request gets lost and is never responded to and then the AVP wants to know why it wasn't done and you can pull up a copy of your email that the AVP has not looked at either

c) he/she does not follow the AVP rules like overtime and working from home (the AVP says working from home is only in case of emergencies like an expected snow storm where the building will be closed). This Team Leader lets anyone work from home when ever they want to and never follows the AVP instructions and never gets in trouble because the AVP needs this Team Leader as she is the only  one that know her job

The 3rd Team Leader is new in the Team Leader Position.  Before he/she became a Team Leader very friendly and sociable.  Big Time attitude change after becoming Team Leader

This company is a fantastic place to get experience in many areas because they have so many specialty lines. Managers are kind and generally helpful, but inconsistent. Pay raises and bonuses are extremely low unless you’re upper management, where the money that should be paid to employees is likely redirected to. CEO is brilliant, but shady and cares very little about employee retention (he has actually stated this during town halls). Given the large amount of money the company is saving by not paying their employees market worth value (mixed with a constant high workload because of turnover) it is probably a pretty stable employer if you’re worried about lay-offs. Management will cower and let policyholders speak to their employees like trash without so much as a professional correction because they value the premium dollars from one policyholder more than basic human respect being shown to their workers. Many of the policyholders are wonderful, but the company does insure a large portion of the personal lines for affluent individuals, and some of these people truly have an overinflated sense of self-worth and entitlement and cannot be pleased. Overall it’s a good place to get some experience, but unless you are into toxic work environments that glorify employees for working late nights on a salary to keep up with the workload from the constant turnover, I wouldn’t recommend it. That being said, there is new leadership taking the ranks for casualty claims which I truly believe will change current operations because the leaders now do see value with their employees, but their authorities are still restricted by higher leadership. 

Assigned to three attorneys and one paralegal in the Chubb Commercial Insurance (CCI) General Counsel Department. Duties include scheduling and maintaining all attorneys’ calendars, arranging meetings, appointments and conference calls (domestic and international).

• Accountable for preparing the yearly budget for the CCI General Counsel Department.
• Responsible for making all travel arrangements, submitting expenses, reimbursement reports and requests to our accounting department.
• Responsible for tracking time/days off, preparing reports for Human Resources and employees in my department.
• Created and maintain files, reorganized and incorporated a new filing system for three attorneys and paralegal, to be able to retrieve and locate any file when needed.
• Responsible for maintaining all intellectual property trademark files. This involved creating a tickler file to monitor the renewal and expiration dates for all Chubb’s patents and trademarks. Duties also include working with outside counsel and preparing invoices and payment requests for all attorneys’ fees.
• Responsible for preparing letters, insurance contracts, policies, and endorsement design using the Customarq Policy Standard format. Other departments have requested my services and skills numerous times to create side-by-side documentation and annotated contracts for rewrites and preparations for state filings.

This job had wonderful benefits, profit sharing and pension plan. The company was going through a major layoff.

Chubb is now ACE and with that comes a change in culture to the ACE environment. In acquiring Chubb, ACE not only sought to expand it's operations into the agency market and high end personal lines, but they also bought the Chubb name. ACE had developed a poor reputation among experienced insurance professionals due to the culture that derives from the highest level of leadership through claims management in PA and NJ. ACE claims management is beset with technically incompetent mangers concerned more with their own political positioning with Sr. Management than results and integrity when dealing with their subordinates. This is primarily at the AVP level and above. There are many recent positive reviews of the company which coinciding with ACE's desire to change their brand name may warrant some degree of skepticism regarding the their authenticity. 
ACE has made a concerted effort to recruit new entrants into the workforce who are unaware of their culture. 
Claims managers are much more concerned with appearance and things that do not add value to the process. For example, be prepared to have a claims manager focus more on grammatical errors in reserve/authority request than the accuracy of an interpretation of a jurisdictional issue and analysis of exposure in general.
ACE provides decent compensation and a good benefit package due to the scope of their operations but the cultural issues are still the albatross for this organization.

I’m very glad that I got out while I could. I worked with the auto claims department and did not anticipate the amount of work and mental/ physical toll working at this job would do to me. It’s nearly impossible to not work long hours, your shift may very well go into late at night. The expectations  just this year has been heightened with no room to adjust.
 The supervisors do not care about you, your family, or your health. and you are treated as disposable except if you are one of their favorites. I understand that they are under an enormous amount of stress as well. Going to them with ideas to try to improve the process-flows is useless. Coworkers now started turning on each other and cutting each other down the rug. 

You are not just an adjuster here: you are a total loss examiner, call center agent, counselor to the insureds, detective, trainer, 7 different types of dispatchers, and a miracle worker. Your unrealistic phone stats and surveys are your lifeline. Half of the department (including some of the supervisors) left during a pandemic because of poor work/life balance and unhappiness.  Please do NOT waste your time unless you absolutely have to.

The only upside is the friends that you will make because of your shared trauma and the money/benefits. That is why so many people feel trapped in this career. 

The role of a parser is really a unique, unusual one, that often requires being there firsthand to understand the job tasks given at hand.
In a nutshell, our job was to revise and recreate the invoices sent to us from law firms to in turn provide a simple universal formatted document for auditing. 
The department of nearly 20 people communicated between attorneys, law firm billing departments, claims examiners, auditors, and other parsers, in order to go about having as many invoices processed quickly and efficiently day after day.
We were blessed to have the most wonderful supervisor ever, but those above her head did have a tendency to micro-manage a bit much anytime things went the least bit south.
Aside from that, there was little hope in ever acquiring a full time position with Chubb that included all the perks and benefits the majority of employees received working under one roof. But options were given through hard work to get those graduating from parsing into their introductions in claims and underwriting.
But if there was any amazing perk that people wanting to hang around it was the ultra flexible schedule. As long as you completed your 40 hours by Friday's end you were entitled to doing virtually any kind of shift needed day by day with a minimum of 5 hours required with no advanced notice. This was very helpful when it came time for me to do work for my 2nd job.

Worked with actuarial department to provide corporate premium and loss data.

This company is a great company to work for. However,...room for growth is highly manager dependent and there tends to be "pigeon-holing" if your manager does not desire you to move on in the company. Moreover, one is not allowed to seek an internal position without informing his/her manager first. Essentially, an employee is then stuck working for the same individual in the same department. Work/life balance is better than at most companies but I rated it mediocre as it could be better. For example, given the type of work that I do does not involve much human interaction (almost none), there is very little reason why I have to beg to work remotely when one of my kids gets sick or I have commuting/logistical issues (like the cable guy coming to fix something or a doctor appointment near where I live which would cause me to have to leave earlier from the office than I would have to if I worked from home) or that if I leave the office at 4 45 instead of 5 00 PM (most days I am at the office until 6 00 PM or beyond), I am bound to have a voice mail from my boss with a shock that I am not in the office. The projects are fascinating. I am never bored. For the amount of work that I do relative to some of my peers in financial engineering, the compensation is excellent.

Before Merger.... Productive, Fun, lots of advancement, team oriented, fast pace, so much Team Support and interactive between branches, etc. Social times to joke and laugh with co-workers for a spell.  People started out of High School and stayed. Great benefits, really was a great company to start and retire from with a lot of respect of employees and positive attitudes etc.

Since Merger in 2016.....  hit the floor running daily.  Work Harder, not smarter.  Management changes upper and lower took away the Company Dynamic. Many persons took early retirement, overall turn over increased, most Chubb Employees have a sad attitude of stress, out of control and overall miserable and unhappy.   

After so many years though, the best part of my day is still the Customer Service side of it.   Have gained professional relationships across the globe and continue to be resource for many. Reputation follows and they know I am there to help.
