Clear Motivations

I have worked at Clear Motivations for a couple of years now. I have received a few raises and a couple Holiday bonuses. My hourly rate is very much above minimum wage and way more then I would get paid at any other day program.

Not only the pay is way better... but the environment is absolutely amazing. Everyday I feel full hearted and encouraged to keep making a difference in my participants lives. Everyday I get to teach them something new and that gives my life so much meaning vs. a desk job or a cashier job with no direction. Here you have a purpose and a mission and I can't thank Clear Motivations enough for letting be a part of this Journey!

We do so many fun and unique activities also. Just to name a few; Electric Boat Rides! Museums, Water Balloon Park BBq's, Spring fling dances, Holidays Balls, Taco Man Lunch Days, Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland, Picture Day followed by a Buffet Lunch, Beach days.... I have personally attended all these functions and more.. These are mainly on Fun Friday's.

For the work week you pick up your student(s) and take them out in the community or to work and that's were the magic happens the mentoring takes place and my heart just fills up. I get compensation for mileage at the CA rate and also get cell phone cost compensation!

Management and the Owners, I have nothing but good to say about the support and encouragement I receive from all of them. Anytime I needed assistance or support I got it and still receive till this day. 

Overall I wish to be here long term and wish to grow with this company! When I feel I am ready to take the next step, it has been expressed to me that I will be trained at to become one of Clear Motivations Official Trainers. I am finishing up my AA this next semester so I feel I will have a clear mind to jump into a higher level of training.

Hope this helps any candidate wondering how it is to be a part of an uplifting team. Clear Motivations changed my life on so many levels. I'm thankful..

A typical work day for me is morning pickups and as a 1:1 coach driving with my participant to their job site, helping set them up for the day as well as helping them problem solve and complete tasks given to us by their manager. Our shifts always pass by super fast! The biggest thing I have learned is how to be patient and work on communication skills, as well as to be able to ask and answer the right questions, the right way. Management is always extremely attentive and helpful, and always available to answer any questions you may have. Any corrections I have ever been given have always been extremely helpful and left me feeling more confident rather than defeated. Workplace culture is very different than what I was used to. Most days I do not see any of my other coworkers or managers, however on the times we are around each other it is always a great growing and learning experience to work with other coaches! The easiest part about the job as a 1:1 coach is knowing you are being relied upon by your employer and your participant to do a great job, and always being told you’re doing so, it is very encouraging to hear your work is being appreciated and you’re being trusted with a very precious position. The hardest part is like I’ve mentioned before, is always remaining patient and in good spirits, your participant needs your positive attitude and motivation to feel good about their day, and every once in a while outside life can start to get you down, and remaining positive throughout that can get tough, but if you’re ever feel beat up management is always willing to listen and encourage you too. And that is a great breathe of fresh air!

I’ve been meaning to leave a review for a while now. I left clear motivations back in June. It was a very love hate relationship with this company. Throughout my year there I did see growth and professionalism at least try and thrive. For the most part, upper management was very accommodating and accepting. But there were cracks.. as there are in every company. I can’t completely put this company down due to personal reasons and circumstances. They were very supportive and dealt with a lot from me during my employment. In my experience, all I can say is that they do their best. They try to support and accept all faults but at the end of the day, they have a business to run. What I can also say is that they absolutely do care about the participants. And that is their number one priority after all. My only recommendation would be to take away the negligent hiring. Add more steps to the interview process and lower the turnover rate. The raises were great. The communication was great. But you HAVE to meet in the middle. The CEO has a big heart and wants the best for these participants. He just needs to listen a little more and be aware of who they’re brining on board. Overall, I got a lot out of Clear Motivations and learned a LOT in my personal life and professional…. If you’re looking for a breakthrough life changing job with a lot of personal growth, work here. If you’re not used to working outside of the box, go somewhere else. Everyone will always have something bad to say about some boss out there. If your open to new life and are a passionate person, clear motivations will change your life. Take it for what you will. 

I just quit this job after a month or two. I was hired as a 1:1 Job Coach. The founder seems so friendly and welcoming in the beginning, then you really see who he is later, after you’ve accepted the job. Orientation gives misleading information. You are told that after two weeks you get a $14 raise, then after you’ve worked the two weeks, they tell you it’s after you hit eighty hours. They bait you to accept the job, then change everything they told you AFTER you’ve accepted the position.
I worked here for less than a month and, though working with the participants (adults with disabilities) is great, the management and founder are far from that. It was horrible. 

They do not receive feedback well at all. Instead, they give you a list of what you are doing wrong and why you are the problem. The supervisors do not care about the coaches at all. They only care about popping up at your location at random times, to point out how you’re a bad worker and for them to get a few hours to add to their paycheck that day. And when you try to give them advice on how you learn, my supervisor responded with, “That’s your problem.”

The coaches are not properly appreciated. And this company will continue to hire, only to have job coaches quit soon after. This is probably one of the WORST companies I’ve EVER worked for. Not only because of poor management and lack of humility for the job coaches, but because they can be and do so much more. When they realize that you MUST treat your people right, things will change.

The best part about this job is getting to work with an amazing group of individuals who are motivated to work hard, share their talents, and aim for success! All this would not have been possible without the directors dedication to their participants in hopes for one day for each of them to obtain a job! Many of them have come a long way and if it weren’t for their directors or coaches believing in them who knows where their path might have taken them. We believe that through teaching, motivating, and praising that anything is possible if you just believe! We have many success stories and more to come! This job does come with its challenges sometimes, but what job doesn’t? You get on-site training with people who know the company like the back of their hand and teach you the proven to work strategies that we use daily in our program. Clear Motivations has taught me many thing such as being patient, stepping out of my comfort zone, and overall how to be a better coach. I couldn’t thank the people I work with enough for all that they’ve taught me, they’re truly amazing. You definitely receive a lot of support here from fellow coaches, supervisors, directors, etc. You’re never alone in this journey as long as you continue to communicate your needs. We accept all here and that’s the beauty of it, we believe in each and every single one of our participants and what they hope to achieve!

Such a great place to work! Clear Motivations really cares about their employees(coaches) and the adults in their program! There are so many opportunities to grow yourself in the workplace and as a person! A typical day at work could be either doing specifically designed activities for the participant you are coaching or coaching them at their actual place of employment! It is so great to be right alongside them helping them grow and learn while they earn a real paycheck! I have learned so much about kindness, understanding and patience in my job, and have had so much support for everyone in management as well, when I am feel disheartened, frustrated or stuck I know I always have an answer and support ready for me when I make that phone call! Everyone I have worked alongside has been friendly and team oriented, we all understand the goal is to be a team and we work great as a team and it has been so great working alongside people who just GET IT. The hardest part about my job was learning patience and understanding, I came in not knowing what I was about to get myself into and learned right away the benefits of being positive and kindhearted. This is such a safe, careful place for everyone here! I have never felt so welcome, loved and cared for at a job!

Pros: The best part of working at Clear Motivations was the ability to work independently with participants. This level of autonomy was rewarding and provided meaningful, direct engagement that made the job worthwhile.

Cons: There are significant drawbacks to working at Clear Motivations. Upward mobility is limited, as the organization often adheres to the corporate structures typical of non-profits, which can feel restrictive. Additionally, the CEO seems to have a pattern or "type" when it comes to promotions, which can impact fair advancement opportunities.

Another major issue is the heavy reliance on having personal transportation. If you don't have a car, securing or maintaining a position is practically impossible. While the company promotes placing employees close to home, the reality is different. Eventually, you are assigned locations far from your residence, and the excuse often given is that many employees have long commutes(which they promote will place close to home lol some of us choose to work close to home) This inconsistency leads to significant wear and tear on your vehicle, adding to personal costs that aren't always adequately compensated.

This job makes for a very well rounded person and utilizes skills to ensure the best results. These are people with different needs and learn in different environments and training settings. When they leave this program, we ensure they are ready for the working world and are taught basic social skills and give them opportunities to advance them along the way. To work with this company gives a full sense of community and hard work. A typical day at work consists of accompanying your dependent to the work place, checking that they are properly dressed and groomed for the day, following instructions from the employer and how to do tasks efficiently and at a steady pace. I believe the hardest part of this job is imagining the dependent as a child but realizing they are fully grown adults who need a little more help than the average adult. But the best part to me is feeling accomplished after seeing the big changes in attitude and work ethic. The results make it all worth while. I have learned that everyone is capable of different abilities, but where you construct your skills, you will excel.

CM is a life changing experience. Why? because you learn that you can have a conversation with and adult with disabilities. You are a coach but, you become also their friend. Its not hard to work with the participants you just have to follow the rules of CM and you will be fine. Everyone in the company is really nice the CEO also is a great person you will enjoy to work for the company. The only bad thing is that you have to drive a lot an also last minute schedule changes. 

CM cambia tu vida y tu forma de pensar. Te das cuenta que puedes tener una conversacion con personas con discapacidades te vuelves su amigo mas que un coach. El trabajo es facil si sigues las regalas y todo lo que te ensena la supervisora que tambien es buena gente. En general todo los que trabajan en la compania son buena gente. Tambien el CEO es buena gente y siempre esta disponible en ayudar y quiere hacer que la compania cresca. Vas a disfrutrar trabajar para esta compania. Tal vez lo unico malo es el tener que manejar mucho o el cambio de horario a los ultimos minutos.

Working at Clear Motivations as a 1:1 Employment First Coach has been a very positive experience. You get to work with many different adults with special needs/differences and help each of them grow in their abilities every day.
The office staff are all wonderful and do their best to help each employee with their work. 
They do their best to accommodate employee commutes, but sometimes you do have to buckle up for that longer drive to help cover a shift.
You do need to use your own personal vehicle so be prepared for that.
This is honestly a great place to start a career within the field of psychology for any college students or recent graduates, and you really do feel good at the end of a shift because you can see the positive impact you have made on a person's life when you are dropping them off at the end of the day.
