Lessons Learned/Management:
I learned a lot about how a non-profit gains support for people to work with them and then limits the work of their staff by focusing on grandiose ideals pushed by management.  The culture is not conducive to productivity, rather more on smiling in the boss' face and participating in a host of impromptu meetings that strain time management guidelines.  If you let anyone see you working hard they will bring you more work and demand that you do it in less time while they take all the credit and none of the blame.  

Culture/Co-Workers:
There is a "Fire Drill" going on every other day which makes it difficult for you to appreciate working with anyone besides other line staff that you depend on to help complete the drill.  The upper management divides middle management through busy work and chaos, who in turn leave the loose ends to their staff. Instead of cohesion, this creates a lot of mistrust and backbiting between colleagues who are not driven on the mission, but on gaining recognition and the next promotion. 

In short, there was never a dull moment and the most enjoyable part of the job was helping the patients and promoting teamwork through company activities. The staff were great people that wanted to promote healthcare for all and many strove to provide excellent customer service.

Healthcare is not an easy line of work, especially in a community clinic. Everyday there would be at least one person who yelled at me for any number of reasons. Mostly it was because they were late and wanted to put the blame on me. Aside from that though I was happy to work there because I knew I was providing a service to my community and it's something I always wanted to do and still want to do. I stayed as long as I did because I was making sure that I was part of their healthcare by making sure all of their paperwork was in order and that their files went to the provider with the exact information of why they were visiting the clinic that day. A good day consisted of getting everyone that came in to see a medical provider that day and those days were rare but did happen from time to time. The most difficult and common days were the ones when we had to turn people away because their paperwork wasn't in order or they missed their appointment. Those days were difficult. If it wasn't for the long commute and low wage i would have continued to work there. Unfortunately I had to leave because it was getting expensive to work so far away from home.

Been working here for almost 5 years and it has been a pleasure to work in this clinic part of  the SUD department and (community).
We have a great work environment from coworkers, management, other staff and the patients. As a case manager being able to support and provide the services that most patients seek are the rewards we attain by seeing them overcome their struggles. It is a fast pace job always trying to help insure that the clientele receives the treatment of care needed. We provide many services and provided treatment for all everyone. Definitely a well rounded program. Nonjudgmental, welcoming and friendly.

Clinica Romero’s mission of Health4All as a basic human right is in alignment with my moral standing. 
The patient centered care includes medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, substance use, and mental health services for patients of every age in the Pico/Union and Boyle Heights areas of Los Angeles, just minutes from Downtown. 
One of the best things about this FQHC is its strong connection to the communities it serves through its strong Community Organizing. 

Overal the process of hiring was fast is great job great benefits little pay. When it come to coworkers most of them are great but stay away from referrals department one of the worse people to be hired in this company lack of culture and the worst ridiculous comment they make about management, coworkers and most of all patients. Up to this day they are still rude and don’t answer phone and are always on their phone and sleeping. One of the many reason patients are transferring as well. 

It was a high stress environment. Because of the lack of structure and organization, there was a lot of last minute demands. This helped me become more organized, so that when somebody requested something, I would know exactly where I would find it. 
Unfortunately my supervisor moved on to a better company and the new supervisor that stepped in was not what I expected. The company had lots of turnover, but the employees were great and I made sure to always make them feel comfortable to come in and ask anything when they needed it.

Working for clinica is great, everyone is usually very welcoming and works together as a team for the most part. However things are always changing and most times these changes are like a broken telephone because the messages don’t get delivered accurately. A lot of the employees here do seem to love what they do. The problem is mainly the lack of Doctors and the salary is not usually as compensating as other facilities.

For the department I work for I felt that the supervisor was always making myself walk through eggshells. Also instead of talking to you pulling you aside away from people she will talk to you in a room full of other people. Someone of the people do care about pt and go beyond and other are there just to work and not get bother which makes it hard to ask a question. Only thing I could say the people that help me out well I work they made it good for me until last it and was able to make it this long with them. 

SUD offers many services that are not current. Case Managers have a workload of 20+ clients and their turn-around is ridiculous no one lasts there. You do more than what is asked for on the posted job description and are expected to do follow through. Inconsistent work environment and clients are consistently  being assigned to a new case worker. A lot of the work falls through the cracks.

Clínica Romero in Alvarado is the worst place to work at . I worked for about 2 months in the dental department all they care about is medical patients even though it’s a community clinic where there suppose to see any low income patient . 
Top it off the doctors take 1 hour to see every patient when it’s just a 10-15 min exam . 
All the assistant care about it gossiping about each other . Manager doesn’t know how to take control .
