On a daily basis I did phlebotomy and injections in the lab. I ran the lab and was incharge of also sending out the labs via UPS or FedEx daily. When I was not dong any lab duties, I recruited patients for studies having to do with asthma, allergy, COPD and migraines. I would make outgoing calls, pre-screen patients to see if they qualified for the studies and then schedule them. I was also assistant to the cooridnators and would help them with copies, making study materials and updating records in the computer. I learned a lot about the field that I was in dealing with asthma, allergies, COPD and migraines and I also learned a lot about studies. The management in my last job was difficult to relate to for a few different reasons. Working in the environment was hard because there was no patient safety and they were looked at as a number. There was very little to no training of employees even when it came down to drawing blood or giving injections while there are no physicians in the office. I found it hard to work in a place that did not document properly and falsified data. I loved working with my co-workers and we had a good team and worked well together. The most enjoyable part of my job was the patients and getting to know them and developing a relationship with them to make them feel more comfortable while they are going through the study process.

While I generally enjoy the field and what I was assigned to do (for the most part), fellow coworkers treated me in a condescending manner. To further make the problem worse, I was not trained appropriately by any means. For recruiting patients, I sat in on one brief phone call then was expected to have every detail of every study nailed perfectly without any further training or discussion. BUT, the thing that bothered me the most was the condescending attitude from other research staff. When I asked questions to other staff about studies and what I should be looking for in patients, I received a snarky answer with something along the lines of "This shouldn't be that hard". Their turnover rate is INSANE, which is unfortunate as the company itself isn't terrible, but I understood once I left. Otherwise, benefits are lacking, there's no room for advancement, and pay is below industry average. All that aside, management really is understanding and it's unfortunate that a couple of bad apples ruined it for me.

- My typical work day consists of helping students, faculty and staff, submit changes to research studies.
- I learned how to explain complicated things simply.
- My manager is very flexible and understanding with doctor's appointments or time requested off.
- Everyone is nice and cares about each other for the most part.
- The hardest part of the job is dealing with some unhappy patrons. We do our best to please them.
- I really enjoy teaching the medical students about research, either one on one or in presentations since it's something I am so passionate about and I like being able to teach it to others.

Clinical Research Institute is by far the best company I have ever worked for.  Management treats each person as an individual, takes care with training, and provides an environment that fosters growth.  They have created a welcoming, supportive, and team-like atmosphere.  I enjoyed going to work everyday.

Contract work, set own days to work as sleep tech for clinical and research studies.facility is safe.

A typical work day consisted of monitoring client making sure they are not a harm to themselves and others. I also did vitals signs twice a shift and made sure all clients ate.
