What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part are the hours. Working 12’s gave you the flexibility of having more days off.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I’d say it was definitely management. The ED in particular, as the manager was very dishonest to me. And favoritism was very apparent.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment was like most healthcare facilities. There is a lot of teamwork on nights, but I cannot say for dayshift as I’ve never worked that shift. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day for a CNA was getting vitals on your patients, doing EKG’s, collecting urine specimens, changing/getting patients ready for admission, applying splints, and most of all, sitting with IVC patients. Lots and lots of sitting. As a matter of fact, you’ll spend a lot of time sitting as they do not have a sitter pool. But all in all, the work itself was never bad.

Typical shift, come in to 6-7 patients per nurse plus taking charge nurse roll over 1-2 floors. CNAs are required to have up to 12-14 pts each. Acuity is never taken into account, always quantity. It's all about patient satisfaction scores not taking into consideration what their staff is enduring or safety factors. Each employee is just a number. You will not be backed by administration or management if a situation should arise. You will be on your own regardless where the truth and proof lies. The pros, your coworkers for the most part, exception of 1 floor,  are awesome. You become a work family and support each other. The pay is 42% below NC average nursing pay, the benefits are ridiculously over priced and inadequate to say the least. Wanting to improve or transfer to another department? Seniority has no factor with this facility, it's all political and knowing the right people. I would advise anyone to keep looking for employment.

There is no "best" part of working there.  "Not" working there is the best part.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The way people on your "team" stab you in the back and set you up for failure if they feel threatened by you at all. If by some chance you know something they don't know your Lead gets angry at you then attempts to sabotage you with your shared manager and director. Leadership leaves a lot to be desired.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile unless you've been there 20 years

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was like sitting on egg shells, double checking your work, even though you  know you have it finished correctly, getting to work an hour early, etc. Anything I thought would help me.

The best part of the job is the patients. The worst part is the work load and the amount of clueless employees though out the hospital. They have people that are only there for a paycheck and do no work and nothing is ever done about it. They put people in management positions that have no clue of the way it is supposed to be done. Most of the ones quitting have worked there between 10 and 30 years and are good and dedicated employees but they don't even try to retain them. They prefer to hire people with no experience and have no idea what to do. Too many people are not there for the patients. A hospital should care about the patients and employees. To many departments are overworked and understaffed.

I love working for Columbus Regional. It's like working together as one big family. My co-workers are the best, couldn't ask for better people to work with. The CEO cares about the employees and has done a remarkable job so far. I work night shift in switchboard, mainly I work by myself ,but when 7am rolls around and it's time for me to leave, YOU'RE always greeted with a smile and a Good Morning from co-workers starting their shift. You have an opportunity to advance in different departments. If the day ever comes that I have to leave, it will be a sad day. When you work with a great bunch of people, you love your job and when you love your job, you get great production.

It was relaxing most of the time because I worked at night.  In a healthcare setting can be very stressful during an emergency and I learned how to be productive in stressful situation.  At night management was limited.  I got the opportunity to work with various ethic groups.  The hardest part of the job was monitoring many alarms.  The most enjoyable part of the job is making sure when an emergency arises, I can dispatch the hospital staff to take care of patients, especially critical patients..

Great work environment with a close nit staff.

Early arrival, process food menu items, provide on demand meals, and ensure sanitation standards are met.

Felt like family and loves working with the kids

My old supervising physician was not helpful

Family oriented, team work oriented

Seeing sick and well children daily.  Shots and school physicals

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Night shift was never stressful, even in what could have been very stressful situations.

I was so excited to get this job and really did like it but unfortunately I was working 2 jobs and a full time student and got over whelmed with the work load and had to quit one of my 2 jobs which was this. That being said a lot of the employees were very unwelcoming to me and made me feel very bad about myself when I asked questions.
