I enjoy my work day at ComForCare. Typically, I would have a daily assignment of taking care of clients. My assignments depend on where I would work that day of the week. 

On the weekdays, I usually assigned clients in private homes and sometimes in nursing homes. On the weekend, I work in residential care facility and take care of a  patient load, typically anywhere from eight to twenty patients. My duties include assisting clients with ADLs such as bathing, hygiene, and grooming. For some clients, I take vital signs and help them with glucose readings, as well as do medication reminders. 

When I am assigned to a residential care facility, I supervise other CNAs on the floor. We often get unexpected calls and have to deal with emergency situations. 

When I work in private homes, my work is less stressful. I typically stay with each client anywhere from one to twelve hours. I provide basic nursing care, as described above. Sometimes I also assist clients with housework and prepare light meals. 

Ever since I have been a CNA I have learned a great deal of responsibility in taking care of someone's health. I learned that caregiving is a stressful and demanding job. I have taken care of many elderly with various chronic illnesses. Each day I viewed as an opportunity to learn new skills, either physical or mental. There have been  situations in my work that I personally found challenging. Some of the challenges are when patient is not compliant with care plan and family members insist on provision of care to the patient. For example, patient refuses to take medication, refuses to go for an exercise class, or refuses to take a shower. I viewed each of those challenges as an opportunity to develop new communication skills and practice therapeutic relationships with these patients. 

I learned that, when, for example, patient refuses care, the best way to get them to do anything, is to speak to them in quiet tone of voice, give them simple commands and explanations about why certain task or activity is need to be done. Sometimes, they do not respond right away, but with time and patience, great things can be achieved. I was able to learn ways to help these clients and to persuade them to do what was beneficial for their health. 

I always was able to built great relationships with coworkers and we find mutual strength and support in each other. The management of my company also is also very efficient. We, as CNAs, can voice our concerns and issues openly. I had a great opportunity to grow with this company from being a staff CNA to being a Team Leader.

The most enjoyable part of my work is to see tears in the eyes of my clients, hold their hand, and hear from them as well as their family members how much they appreciate all I do to take care of them. 

This employer seems to be okay if you are just starting out in caregiving and don't have any other experience in the field.  I'm sure the company means well, but they don't want you to share anything personal with your clients.  Basically, let your client tell you all about themselves, but don't give your client any information about you.  Management makes up rules for pay rate as they see fit. They tell you that you will get FT hours before hire and after hire you get a couple weeks of 30+ hours and then you go down to 15 hrs. a week, sometimes even as little as "NO" hours for no reason and no explanation, basically you are on-call.  Get accused for not showing up for a shift, get called into the office for possible termination, when the scheduler never sent you a shift to begin with.  Management can't keep MAR correct for all clients and when corrected by a CNA, they remove the CNA from the case, regardless of the clients wishes for the CNA to remain taking care of them.  Basically, the employer doesn't like to admit when they are wrong and in violation of following Dr.'s written orders for medications.  They remove the Original Dr.'s orders from the care plan and write up their own.  There is NO proper training on the job, just a quick run through and then you are thrown onto a case by yourself.  If you are just beginning in this field...I suggest you work in an Assisted Living Facility first, at least you will get proper training about procedures and how things are done.  Rather than just thrown into a persons home, having no clue on how to take care of them except to refer to the company's typed up care plan with incorrect information on the client, they never update a client's care plan according to decline in health or progress a client achieves, very disappointing.  Say they are NON-MEDICAL, but have you taking care of client's with big open sores/pressure sores on their body and no training on how to take care of it.

First cna job I’ve had. I’ve enjoyed it and it was nice to take things slow to get into the groove of this profession. Sadly they are understaffed and sometimes schedules don’t match the availability of employees. That can be hard when you put your schedule in based around your personal life and you get it back and it’s not what you asked for all the time. Asking for time off is impossible. Out of the two years I’ve worked here I’ve had one real vacation. Couldn’t get time off to see my grandma who was very sick, never heard back from managment. Also asked for time off for mental reasons and was declined. 
 Most clients I worked with were very nice and they don’t take cases where people are mean or overly rude. Everyone is very appreciative of the work we do for them. Families as well. Hours are pretty good but they are based on what the clients ask for so if ur hired for a 8am-8pm you’ll probably get a 10am-3pm and maybe another shift 5pm-9pm and that would be your day. If you’ve worked here a long time you easily become apart of the family. They reward employees for hard work, taking extra shifts, and doing more than needed in shift. 
Good job for people who are in school. Night shifts are perfect for studying. 
Overall a good job but for me the things that I don’t like the most, 1) it’s just my client and I for most the shift. Family is usually gone. That can be boring cuz there’s only so much to do. And 2) I’m getting paid less than the hours I work and I’m not sure what’s going on. My pay has gone up and down over the last two months. Hours have only changed a bit. Not enough to be loosing as much as I have. 

ComforCare is simply just a job and nonetheless I am thankful for it. However, I am personally overqualified for this job, especially when compared to the majority of people they hire. I've been at this job for 3 years and I have never seen so many unqualified people be hired to take care of the elderly. They will literally hire ANYBODY. Alcoholics, drug addicts, people who can't read/write/or speak English fluently, people who are physically incapable of doing the job and who seem to need home health care themselves! Shoot, I've seen them hire many young teenagers and old women who can't even cook! Which, might I add, is a big part of the job!

I guess what can you expect when you get paid $10/hr and only see a raise ONE TIME IN THREE YEARS. Considering clients pay approximately 3 times that amount for our services, I might just be better off working for myself. It sure does make me wonder where all the money goes. In fact, a 10 cent raise is just an insult. However, if you are a capable person who doesn't like to do much, this might be the job for you. A lot of time it just involves sitting and keeping clients company and talking with them. Hence why I am ok staying here, making my stupid $10/hr.  

The scheduling is "flexible", meaning you can choose how many shifts you want to work and in that respect, it would be a good job for mothers with children. The tricky thing about this business is that when people die, you're out of work. Plus, it's just plain sad getting to know people and then losing them to death. 

The job does have it's perks though, like personal gratification for helping people on a daily basis.

I learned that interests and related concerns outside of this non-medical home care service are more important than cultivating a strong work culture and team approach and that expanding the scope of service was not a priority.  Status quo is the order of the day.

Medicaid referrals were routinely declined for my territory and there was no sufficient investment of time and resources to develop lasting relationships with provider contacts. There is a closed management mindset that is unaccountably and frustratingly detached from the needs of the business, that is full of limited, derivative ideas and septic with a pettiness that seemed to infect many aspects of the job.

There was little encouragement for continuing education and marketing skills development, no guidance nor incentives for job advancement, and the ComForcare corporate computer modules and documentation programs were pedestrian at best and were not deeply relevant in clinical terms. 

I think I was hired because of favorable omens derived from crystal power and astrological charts.  I made only stiff acquaintances with management and there seems to be some very brittle personal sensitivities.

Regrettably, I cannot with clear conscience recommend this company to anyone.  I saw great potential there and was optimistic about future gains.  My vision isn't what it used to be.

would guilt me into either taking shifts or for taking time off. had a situation with a client that resulted in bringing my work home with me and when i contacted the company for them to pay for the fumigation it became an issue. I told them I would not return until the pest control cleared it. they said that because I was already affected that they didn't want to send anyone else and that if I did not go that they would not feel comfortable sending me to other clients. they paid little so  much work. when i would call trying to talk to them about the client and that i was being treated like a maid, they 'spoke' with the client, but nothing changed. i told them when i was available to work and they waited till i was established with a client and then started adding on hours which lead to working out of when i was available. then the client would not show up and when i called the office they acted like they did not care and would ask me to stay later till someone got there. which was normally 1-2 hrs later. when i started they told me the way to let them know when i needed time off, then it would change as often as the office staff did(which was often). i would tell them i needed a day off and they would call trying to get me to work. when i finally did leave i found out what they thought of me from my new employer. that i was unreliable and did not stick to my schedule, which was untrue.i worked  6 days a week, i starting spending more time at my client's home than my own. i could not be happier when i left the company.

I have been with this place for a little over a year on and off! And to me it was a great place to work for!! Yes the scheduled hours was a little wonky like one day I’d work 8-9 hours then one day I’d work 3 hours. Sometimes I did like it because if I had things to do before work but not every single time!! My hours kept getting reduced and I always had to ask for hours. And now recently I get a call saying I am being pulled off the schedule!!! Like what?? I never got a warning or anything from management. Apparently I was late all the time and called out so many times but I didn’t think I was such a problem because I was not told upfront!! Then I was told I could work open shifts and now guess what! lol I checked my app and it looks like they have pretty much removed!!! I the only thing I see is “select your office” or “delete account” there is no “office” to select. Don’t depend on this place!! Be careful!! I am a single mom of 4 kids so I try my very best!!  That is okay though I will find me a job who actually appreciates me and looking for a part time job to work from home. Because they pretty much let me go without no warning!! Now I have no paycheck coming in so next time I will be prepared. FYI (if I ever owned a business I would definitely not treat my employees like this!!!) I would at least warn them not automatically let them go!! Shame on you management I hope you guys get so overwhelmed with new clients and don’t have enough caregivers. In Jesus name if they want trouble let them have it!!! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I love alot of little things about this company.  I love the flexibility they give me with my schedule.  It allows me to plan ahead with any needed appointments that I may have.  The friendly atmosphere with all the admin is refreshing.  I can always get ahold of someone when I need something or have any concerns.  They made me feel safe and appreciated during 2020 and COVID.  Being a CNA is a rewarding job and I love working with the clients and their families.  This company always does little things to make us feel appreciated.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When my clients have to be sent to the hospital.  It can be stressful on families and the company.  When the clients are released alot of times they need more care which causes scheduling changes and not everyone picks up shifts to get that coverage filled.  I do what I can.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and family orientated.  The admin staff have alot to juggle, but they always stress how important communication is.   Open door policy with everyone at the office.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I follow the needs of the client.  Sometimes it is busy and sometimes it can be quiet.  I have to adjust to whatever they need and are comfortable with.  The families can requests shifts to be as short as 4 hours.  So sometimes it doesn't allow alot of time to get things done.

I enjoyed working there, it was stressful but thats every job. I sometimes didn't get a day off through the week but that was my choice, someone wouldn't show up to the clients home or would call in and someone from the office would call and ask if I could cover the shift and I would go. They are flexible with scheduling, trying to give you the schedule and location you want. always helping out employees, friendly, advancement isn't really much of an option but the company hasn't been going for very long. Its still fairly new only operating less than 5 years. talk about advancing is an option once company expands and continues to grow. Pay is a little low but for home health it inst bad and for not being in business that long its ok. If I was still in the area, I would definitely go back. A normal day would include giving client a shower, light house work,laundry, some cooking, providing transportation to appointments or just on a drive, grocery shopping, sometimes just companion care. some clients required full care such as getting them washed up dressed and put into wheel chair. i worked a lot of 2 hour shifts so i was always meeting a lot of clients. mileage was paid from client to client. the scheduler always tried to put clients and caregivers together that she thought they would connect good together.

What is the best part of working at the company?
With ComForCare you're able to work and take on as many client especially when short staffed. You're working alone without having to be with co-workers daily as a as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA). You can earn PTO after working a certain amount of hours and you receive mileage pay which helps your pay be more bi-weekly.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When the office workers insist on giving you more clients when you already have more than enough. Before leaving, I had 6 permanent clients. Honestly, the most stressful part can be the office workers, the client, and the clients family. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Honestly, not very professional, when it come to the office employees. No introduction to the clients as well as what the needs for the client were demonstrated. I didn't receive training until after 6 months of me being with the company. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would mostly start with my first client between 6:45a.m and 7:00a.m. and my day would end mostly between 6:30p.m. and 7:00p.m. My work schedule didn't have space in between clients so as soon as I leave one client I was scheduled to head to my next client. When I first started with this company, I worked 24 days consistently without a day off.
