Honestly, do yourself a favor and just work for the school districts directly. 

While my time with Community Care started off good, I couldn't help but feel that the ship was sinking by the time I left. The training is good, although I have some qualms with their philosophy on autism. Overall, the training allowed me to be effective in my role as a behavior specialist. I loved my school and coworkers. However, dealing with management was the hardest part of this job. There was a pretty sizable pay disparity between veteran employees ($27/hr) and brand new employees ($30/hr) which destroyed morale and personally made me feel disvalued. They began requiring in-person training which was essentially just sitting in the office watching videos as well as job coaching, usually resulting in 10-11 hour days once a week, which was difficult and unrealistic for those who lived far from the office, have children, etc. Their administrative punishment system doesn't make any sense, and you can receive write-ups for simply submitting a time card late or being a few minutes late to work for a VALID reason. This directly affects your yearly raise. Community care became unnecessarily authoritarian, which personally burnt me out more than working with clients ever did. I often felt that I was treated like an incompetent child. There was little to no positive reinforcement, usually just criticism, whereas my school community remained supportive and uplifting. Although job coaching has the potential to be valuable, in my experience, it rarely was and I dreaded it every week. I wish they would realize the value in taking care of experienced employees who are invested in the field and their clients instead of hiring people straight out of high school with little to no experience. While I appreciate the knowledge and meaning this work holds, Community Care treats their employees terribly. The pay and benefits aren't worth the treatment you receive. 

PS - they allow people to submit time cards to write reviews, and they encourage review-writing.  I was asked to write a review early on during my time with the company. Most of these are not accurate.

Every specialist's experience will be different based on the client they are given but I have had a rewarding and fulfilling role in my time at Community. If there are any issues or you have questions about your client and need information or resources on how to better help them, management tries their best to make themselves available and they stand by you every step of the way. They go out of their way to compensate you well for your time. Great benefits (employer paid monthly health care cost) They take medical leave seriously and encourage paid time off be taken for your hard work! With monthly meetings (you can always request more) to have a full conversation of your case, there's always support if you need it. It would be nice if coworkers could bond a little more, especially the ones that are working out in the field. Given the fact that we are dealing with COVID it is understandable why this is a little hard to do right now. At the end of the day your experience depends on your case, some of which are more challenging than others. There is a lot of information and training that has to happen to get you ready for your own cases, but the moment everything comes together is when your working hands on with your client. Even if you find yourself in over your head with a difficult client, you will persevere and get through it with patience and care. I have learned a lot in my time being with this company and for the first time I can truly say I feel fulfilled at my job and leave work happy and motivated. 

I've worked at CC for nearly 2 years and absolutely love it. I started working at CC as a university student and management was always not only flexible with my schedule, but never treated my schedule needs as a burden. Management is also super caring; they prioritize staff self care and wellness more than any place I've ever worked. There is good pay, excellent benefits, and lots of open space for discussion about the work. Because of the types of kids we work with, the job can sometimes be physically, emotionally, and/or mentally taxing, but again managers and other staff are excellent at making sure you are okay and taken care of. I have gained more self-care tools and healed more trauma working here than throughout my whole life. Working with the kids CC works with has been incredibly rewarding, challenging, and fun. Unlike most jobs, you get to have fun and be like a kid again in some ways because you facilitate fun for kids. While you take on the responsible role of a behavior specialist, you also get to play alongside your client, helping them live out their childhood healthily. If you are interested in a career related to psychology, this is an awesome place to work because you work with sooo many different types and ages of youth that you get exposed to many different types of situations and learn how to apply therapy in different contexts. 

They have the right idea and I believe they want to do the best for these kids, but their management is terrible. Staff are extremely unsupported and are expected to deal with anything and everything with little training. It takes a huge toll on your mental health as an employee. When I came forward about getting help with a case that was hard to manage it was flipped around to be my fault because I wasn’t doing enough self care. They have passion for helping the kids, but not for treating their employees with respect. In my experience they paid me less than new hires when I had been there almost a year and they cycle through employees once they realize they’ve had enough. It’s a good place to work if you can handle the mental and physical exhaustion every day. One of the good things is that you and your coworkers are in it together. They are your biggest support because they are going through the same thing. It has its good and great moments. You are definitely making a difference and get the opportunity to help some amazing people. However, by going through the district or somewhere else you would be treated better for doing such beautiful work.

My experience at Trace Behavior Support raised significant concerns regarding workplace culture and leadership. The environment often felt unsupportive, with professionalism inconsistently maintained. Communication from upper management — particularly leadership and administrative staff — frequently lacked transparency, and staff feedback was often disregarded.

There were repeated boundary issues and comments from leadership that made the workplace feel uncomfortable. Additionally, management practices at times felt overly controlling and not conducive to collaboration or growth.

Another concern was the qualifications of some staff. It appeared that not all team members held relevant certifications, which is concerning in a field that relies heavily on ethical, evidence-based practices. Training was led internally and may not have reflected broader industry standards, raising questions about its rigor and relevance.

Attempts to advocate for clients or share feedback were often met with resistance. Staff turnover was noticeably high, and there seemed to be minimal investment in long-term employee development or support.

I do understand/agree with the 1 star ratings on here. The small management team definitely has too many things that they juggle and unfortunately there are a lot of cracks in communications and how certain procedures should go therefore employees suffer. The training material is on point but the I feel the problem is there too many employees for them to train and not enough managers so they can give hands on training that is needed. I enjoyed the independence of going to my shift and doing my best that day and the going home only having to report to the office on occasion for meetings or supervision. The days can be very draining because you can have an autistic child or a behavioral child and they have their challenges and you take those on, cause they can curse or be violent at you. Which sucks of course. But I personally believe this is a good way to also pick up great parenting skills and I will definitely apply the skills I learned on this job with my future kid.   
No rooms for advancement. 

Lack of real support or care from management, its for profit and they let you know that up front. In my time working here, I spent about a week actually working with my client. I spent most of my time here working as a teachers aid and baby sitter, changing diapers of other students in a school where they were not my client, all while my client was under serviced and at risk of being expelled. Supervisor would constantly miss check ins last minute with no repercussions for them, but a write up for you if you miss one. They constantly required me to be writing daily progress notes when it rarely had anything to do with my client, just my day with 20 other students Besides day 1, they never did an in person check in or supervision at the school I worked at over, I was there for multiple months. They do not care about YOUR mental health. High turn over, staffs are just bodies to fill contracts. 

Community Care is a great place for professionals who have experienced the challenges of large caseloads and piles of paperwork who are looking for the opportunity to build real relationships with their clients. The caseloads are often one-to-one, with some people supporting a few clients each week. It is also a great place if you are just starting out and they offer a strong training course. The culture emphasizes development and education and offers a library for behavior specialists to take advantage of in their downtime. The hours are pretty much set to the school you work in, but you also get lots of school holidays to take advantage of. The work can be challenging and Community Care offers supervision, paid time off, health benefits, and even reimburses you for your therapy.

 Community Care offers great benefits and is supportive with career growth. At Community Care I work with special needs students supporting them with in person as well as online learning. I am encouraged to bring ideas to the table with students curriculum which makes me feel valued as a staff member.
The staff at Community Care also schedules time to talk about my own career path and personal growth to help me be the best I can be for my student's. The staff is well trained in various areas of behavioral therapy, psychology, and school based academics so I've been able to learn valuable skills that will help me in the duration of my career.
My overall experience at Community Care has been positive and I would recommend it to anyone looking to explore the behavioral therapy profession. 


The challenge is that the agency is placing you in a school setting and the SPED classrooms vary quite a bit from classroom to classroom in terms of design and management. The plus is that the training is the best I've ever received prior to beginning and they pay you to re-take the training as many times as you wish. I ended up going through the entire training series four times and because it is dense, that helped quite a bit. The company offers in person meetings with your supervisor as often as once a week and they willingly come on site to help you in the classroom (pre-Covid). They run a special needs camp in the summer that gives you the option of employment in the summer, but working the summer is optional. I believe that the company cares deeply about the client and the quality of what they do.
