The actual job itself is amazing! Unfortunately many find out what is considered a reputable organization in the public eye, is riddled with incoherence. Sadly, many of the values here are hypocritical and illusionary in practice. Especially common on the "program manager" and up level.  Many examples include: those in the "in club" not documenting, (this is an ironclad specific state mandate for client funding) or adhering to mask and safety protocols, bragging about their interpersonal romantic relationships and having the power to favor those over others, and advising those covid positive to come to work "if they feel ok." Which is unacceptable, especially with possibly unvaccinated or definitely immunocompromised clients.

They hire (actual quote from a program director) "anybody with a pulse," which makes it extremely frustrating for the few actually dedicated to the individuals and giving 100%, to build rapport and mesh with those who are "just here".. which sadly would include upper management. We have seen people raise concern for food not being in the home, petty cash or grocery funds missing, or people being "on the clock" yet they are nowhere to be found. Different responses to this usually include a copy and paste reply of "policy," but no action, or employees randomly disappearing under the guise of "job abandonment," "performance," or "failure to follow policy." 

Regrettably, it's hard to recommend this company. The mission statement is solid, but rarely practiced in reality. It’s been too clouded within upper management with a high school clique mentality, of "having each other's back" over honesty, and passion exploit on the direct support level, to say it's a good experience for yourself or the individuals. A lot of good people have used their own vehicles, provided many meals and basic necessities for the guys, never to be paid back, despite receipts and documentation. A lot of things can be witnessed, that beg the question, "is this an experience I want my loved one to have under this support staff?" 

Live by your own values, not someone else's. 


This was the first job I've worked where I felt a contentment with my job. The residents were great, to me it was like going to a second home. I cared so much for my residents and tried every day to make things better for them. Long story short though this company is a joke. Even as a basic employee, your phone will always be bombarded with group texts, even on your days off and well into the night sometimes. I was there for multiple years and didn't receive a single raise. I was promised one and management strung me along for a year until I had no choice but to put in my 2 weeks. Once that was in, management told me I could not receive raises through the company but wanted me to stay? I don't know anyone who would work a job as straining as this one and not need a raise. Further issues involved lying, manipulation, guilt trips with employees. Etc. Fabrication on documents was encouraged to keep management out of trouble. Management treats employees like pawns, even going as far to make perverted jokes or betting on employees. Getting a day off, even months in advance, is a fight. Little training, barely any worthwhile communication which led to all Staff confused and doing different things. It was like everyone wanted to be a team but management made it impossible. Lots of drama. If you need a job, it's a job. But your mental/physical health will get greatly impacted. Good luck. 

A typical day of work consisted of closely working with clients to help improve their lives and foster independence. The clients that were served are inflicted with traumatic brain injuries along with other disabilities. Most work days were not working with co-workers which often times made the setting difficult, especially when working in the apartment with more than one client. It hindered the ability of clients to get out of their dwellings and complete essential activities. The employee working under the title of "community attendant" meant working with clients and taking care of their needs/wants. This included dispensing medications, cleaning their dwelling, cooking for clients, or anything that the clients needed help with. Transporting clients and being an advocate for them while in the community was an essential part as well. Good de-escalation techniques were a necessity, however, I personally did not receive some necessary training, especially pro-act training (client de-escalation program used) until a year into employment despite asking for the training for months. At times, I did not feel there was accountability for actions of clients or fellow employees, which often made for difficult situations for employees to handle.

When I got promoted to another house as an assistant manager it was the worst mistake of my life. The staff were less than welcoming and are completely horrible to me professionallyand personally. I've been specifically targeted for 4 months and it's been documented and I've notified my supervisor and upper management but nothing has ever been done. There's been mobbing because I'm younger than the staff and so I'm treated like I have no idea what I'm doing. And it's not just this house, the level of unprofessionalism I've witness in multiple homes working here the past year from the staff and management is incredioulous. Not to mention no real breaks, the budget for staff to eat is never used for staff, getting time off is hard, there's a lot of nepotism regarding advancement, little to no notice about meetings/trainings, and no bonuses (Christmas or any). Honestly the pay is low for this job, assistants and management doesn't get paid more than a dollar or two higher than staff but have extreme amounts of workloads. If your stuff gets damaged from individuals while working don't plan on it being covered. If you're injured at work, it's better to not tell the company for your own sake. If you can, just don't work here.

I began my employment with this Company as a Direct Support Professional with no prior experience in the field and found a passion for the rewards given through making a difference in the daily lives of the most amazing and fascinating individuals I have ever met!  Truly a life-changing experience!  This heart-felt company provides more opportunity for advancement than any other field I have worked in and are at the heart of the over-all experience, as well as the individuals themselves!  This company exceeds their goals in providing a better quality of life to the individuals that they care so deeply for, which would not be possible without a true passion and desire to make it happen.  I respect that they provide all of their employees who share this passion, as well as the ability to provide a better experience for their clients, with an opportunity to advance. Working for Danville Services has been one of the most rewarding, life-altering decisions that I have made and I am proud to be a part of their family-oriented team.  It is a blessing to be able to come home from a days work and feel like you haven't worked at all, it makes a world of difference!

A typical day at work from start to finish is stressful. They pay you little money and expect you to work 24/7. There is no staff and the turn over rate for the company is very high. 

The only enjoyable part with working at Danville is the member. The office staff is not really helpful and sometimes are very disrespectful. 

Management is so stress and over worked and the higher ups only dictate. They are no help at all. I seen some good Program Director and Managers of the Group Homes step down because they literally work everyday with little pay for all the work they expect from them. 

The hardest part of working for Danville is the office Staff if I could rate them seperately I would give them a zero. I do not know what training they have but some of them do not even work. 

I have seen the Program Directors do the HR work and the only thing she does is complain it is not done correctly. I have been in this field for many years and I still do not know what her job is.

Danville is like still being in High School no coordination or respect for people. They gossip about everyone and if you do not fit there perception they get rid of you. 

I would never recommend Danville to anyone I know and if you do work there be prepare for the childish games that they will be playing and also being called everyday all day long because they have no staff to work.

The only thing I liked about this company is working with the individuals. The individuals made it worth going to work everyday. 

Management is horrendous. When I brought up concerns I was always the issue. It was inconveniencing the higher ups every time without a doubt. There is a lot of gossip and every time I confronted the associate director when hearing about what she was saying about me via my coworkers, I never got an apology and was told she can talk about me to my coworkers. She doesn’t know how to keep my name out of her mouth. Boundaries were never respected. 

Most of my coworkers were unaware of the chain of commands especially when the individuals had medical concerns that needed immediate attention. We would message our boss and they would tell us that it was our responsibility to tell the nurse but almost nobody knew who the nurse even was. Nurses were changing all the time and it was never clear which nurse was even working at the company. 

The individuals would get so many new things but they struggled to get food each month~ because apparently a new TV is more important than food. 

Very questionable financial decisions. 

Like I said, this company is the worst I’ve ever worked for. I worked hard for a year and half and I’m glad I quit. I do miss the individuals.

The hardest part is Management. Only men seem to be promoted, and girls who are, usually are treated very badly or they leave.
Management doesn't take caregivers seriously, which are the ones who are there to see if there are any concerns or health risks to clients. Mostly when I saw people from the office they came and got their house tour while making fun of me openly to eachother before leaving.
The most enjoyable part was the clients, I still miss working with them.
The company rules were always different whenever I needed them, and we never had an updated copy at our fascility.
It seemed the better I got at my job, the more trouble they found with me.
Client concerns go ignored constantly, and repairs to their home is too slow and sometimes ingorned until the last minute.
They set a poor example to others, constantly breaking their own rules.
Ovbious favoritsm is shown constantly. when people do the same thing wrong, one gets promoted, the other gets in trouble.

A typical day at Danville is housecleaning meal prep and taking care of all the necessities of the individuals whether it be depend changing feeding bathing. Staff is expected to do all of these things with Minimal pay.  Enjoyable part of the job is interacting with individuals who are positive and outgoing, along with your coworkers. Yes, any concerns take place at the work site you are not supported by management. No investigations take place. It is all based on hearsay. You are expected to work without brakes and to perform physical labor without proper support that lead to physical long-term injuries. Upper management in this case, as soon as they hear, wind of possible injuries, retire, the person or find a way to let go of the staff. Management is nonsupportive, non-investigative and money driven. Also in the St. George Utah area nepotism takes place consistently with the district program Director and her son
