I have done a few positions at Daybreak, such as Dayhab and Home Care. I currently work the homes, and I can say that the consumers are the most enjoyable part of the job. I work the evening shift (during the week) and part of the weekend shift (during the day), which means I'm responsible for cooking, cleaning, bathing, grooming, and monitoring throughout my shift. The hardest part of the job is dealing with co-workers and supervisors who lack a consistent and decent work ethic, as well as lack compassion for their jobs. Most of the time, I have to deal with doing more of everyone else's work than my own because my co-workers either choose to not do their part within their shift, or call-in to work more than they should per week. Management brings a lot of stress to the job because there is always last minute changes to everyone's schedules which we have to abide by, regular employees tend to take the fault for problems that their supervisor has created for each facility, and most of the time regular employees are being taken for granted by allowing them to work each week, and not paying them for all their time worked, or overworking each employee, but never acknowledging strengths, yet always viewing their weaknesses, which usally falls on the supervisors. Plus, there is no room, whatsoever, for raises, or advancement within the company. Once you are hired into a certain position, you are basically stuck there. The reason why I say this is because I've been an employee of Daybreak for the last 8 years, and I'm still making the same money  from when I started, and basically in the same position level. I feel like Daybreak has been a dead-end job for me since the beginning. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone to apply for Daybreak because if you want to be acknowledge for your achievements or make what you are worth, you will never make what you deserve, plus deal with a lot of unnessary problems along the way. Most of the people who work for Daybreak have to have at least an additional job because you are either a full time employee who hours are always being changed, or you are not making enough to make a decent living to pay at least all your bills within a month's time. This company is unpredictable, which means it's not a stable job for most people.

My tenure as a BSP (Behavior Support Provider) at the Victoria, TX office was profoundly challenging due to significant environmental and operational deficiencies.

The role was structured as a one-person department in the Victoria office, meaning I was consistently isolated without any on-site supervision or direct support. While I had remote supervisors, this geographical detachment proved to be a critical flaw, leaving me completely alone to navigate a deeply problematic office culture.

The primary issue stemmed from an environment characterized by extreme unprofessionalism and interpersonal hostility among the on-site administrative and nursing staff, with whom I shared office space. I routinely observed and overheard loud, profane, and highly disruptive conflicts among colleagues, often occurring in the presence of vulnerable clients. This created an incredibly stressful and unwelcoming atmosphere that made attending the office a distressing experience. 

Furthermore, I experienced targeted, passive-aggressive workplace mistreatment, including the mysterious and repeated disappearance of my office desk chair, requiring several reordering of basic equipment. This behavior fostered a toxic and unsupportive daily reality.

The initial training for this position was grossly insufficient, consisting of barely two days of in-person instruction before I was expected to manage all job responsibilities independently. This lack of comprehensive onboarding, coupled with the profound isolation, set me up for immediate difficulties.

Prospective applicants should be aware that the enthusiastic and optimistic portrayal of this position during the hiring process stands in stark contrast to the reality of working in this particular office. The company appears to prioritize filling roles over ensuring a safe, professional, and supportive working environment, especially for isolated remote staff. I urge others to exercise extreme caution.

Daybreak's management and communication is extremely lacking. They flat out have lied to Consumers and staff and even consumer's parents about what they SAY they are going to do and whether or not it actually gets done. 

There was a plumbing problem at a Group home that went on for three months and was not fixed promptly. This caused black mold to grow in the laundry room and back foyer area of the house. 

That is just one of the many examples on how management works with their maintenance crew. Things don't get done how they're supposed to be, and the management doesn't even know what the maintenance staff are doing half the time.

Furthermore, when it comes to safety, They seem to put their morals aside for a paycheck. A consumer was assaulted by a stranger when he ran off from a group home, and instead of telling the parents the truth; that he is not safe there, they do everything they can, in order to keep him there when his behavior required a placement in the State School. But hey, thats not OUR call to make. We just work with the Consumers and know them better than management does... but its not our call to make. 

Moving on, being in a management position and running a group home does NOT pay off in the short or long run. It is amazing how Daybreak has managed to keep Employees as Home Coordinators for the years that they have. Due to the extreme behavioral conditions of the consumers that live in the group homes, and the unwillingness of the management to deal with it: Remove them from the home, House managers do NOT get paid enough to deal with all of the responsibilities AND deal with the consumers on a daily basis. 

Being on call makes Work/life balance impossible. 

Because of one of the aforementioned scenarios, This company is going downhill fast, and its best to stay clear of it.

I am an RN who was hired,  but  due to my personal life I had to leave. Before I got the job I was nervous at first to accept their offer because I had heard some negative  things .I found out that there had been a new Director since then and its  nothing like what I had heard. Its easy as a nurse to get burnt out with all of the options and I must say I enjoyed being there. The clients were so sweet and everyone in the office were so helpful. If I did not have to move away I would still be there. I am sure like every job there may be a few things although I myself can say even with me having to resign without giving a two weeks the Director and everyone I talked to understood. A typical work day was completing a few assessments, triage in the Dayhab and documentation of my services for billing. I learned quite a bit for the short period that I was there. I would recommend only self motivated and quick learners because the sooner you catch on to the clients names the better. Like I said at the beginning the management team was very helpfu. I liked the flexibility of the job. If I had errands to run or needed to do something I was always afforded the time with no pressure.  The hardest part was there was no real training so again you have to be self motivated and a quick learner. But the time that I was there added memories just to be able to work with people with disabilities. I mean how rewarding could that be!

The people at the daybreak in temple is out for them self will stab you and the back just to save there self or for one of there friends. You can work for them for years and they will turn their backs on you Too! They have no loyalty that's my name in the worker that's management don't trust nobody this company they will stab you in the back some things are good about the company after working a couple Years you will get some kind of bond with the consumers there I'm not going to put all their business out there like I could. Just know this is not a good company who wants to get paid to get beat up by the consumers ? the training is BS how to protect yourself there is no law the help you protect yourself at this company they do not apply on company do not have your back. I see so many people come in go they always let the good people go who is there for the consumers. And the pay is bad for all you have to do 7.25 and you getting your but kicked when they get mad and management what it means to price check up on the people they don't really know ok with people they don't really like but the favorite person do whatever they want. like I said you don't have to believe what I put on here if you still decide to work for this company go Head but a few mos your going to see what I'm talking about

I love working with my staff and clients. I've learned a lot about my clients. This place has love and compassion. There are different backgrounds of ethics and history with some of the clients. New challenges it's the best part of my job. It is a good experience to learn of your clients and to learn from them. The hardest part of my job is when I have to leave work and go home knowing that my clients will be missing me and it's kind of heartbreaking to see I'm sad but I reassured them that I will be back. Management is really good they're there when you need them whenever you have a problem they listen they explain and they help you fix the problem for what you are having. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing my clients happy and knowing that they're safe and care for in love and that what makes my job and my life a bunch better place to be in.

You don't get the support from uper management or corporate. You will be over worked and under paid because they can never keep staff

Never having the help or support you need.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You will be very stressed out on a daily basis 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Never having the tools you need to succeed you will not only have to deal with management and no communication but the day to day care of the amazing clients making due with what little you have. It is an unfair disadvantage for the amazing clients that depend on a company that is only worried about saving money not the care of the client

What is the best part of working at the company?
The clients I love them all the company it's self is not a good company  because they don't offer any raies the pay is horrible they  expect you to at 100% when they don't even pay you no money  barely get 40hrs a week they change things up all time you just be getting use to one change then they  pop up with something else it's very overwhelming and exhausting they have alot of turn overs not a good company to work for at all

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No enuff money and all the stuff they expect out of you for the amount of money  they pay you

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is okay  the individuals are great to work for and with and the culture is not so bad

Daybreak is by far the worst company I have ever worked for. Their other employees are quick to throw you under a bus even if you didn't do anything wrong, just to save their own skin.
The management was poor. My manager failed to tell me which home I would be working on, because she would switch me around so often. I would go to my original assigned home, on time, and she would finally call me and say I was not scheduled to work on the home that day, and that I was to be on a different location. I wasted too much time, and fuel on this company, and they paid us virtually nothing for the amount of mental and physical stress they put on us.

Daybreak is a huge cooperation. Their only goal is to make more money. They do not care about the staff or clients. They keep a bare minimum of staff ,even at homes that should have double staff in my opinion. They have homes that have clients with major behavioral issues and self harm. Those clients on bad days require so much attention that the other clients get neglected. It's a safety issue in my opinion. Lawsuit waiting to happen. Someone is eventually going to get hurt. Home Coordinators are forced to be on call 24/7 and are forced to work long hours when staff can not be found to cover shifts. It is not uncommon that they have 80 hours or more in a week.
The clients deserve better. The best part about the job is the clients. You fall in love them.
