I have been employed by this company for 10 years. I am the Front Office Team Lead/Procedure Scheduler. My typical day consist of scheduling oupatient and in-patient gastro procedures for three physicians. I manage their schedules while providing customer care to our patients. I am also the liason between the front office staff and the operations manager. I train all the front office new employees as well as any new schedulers. I have a great team of co-workers that work very hard. The hardest part of the job is being able to answer all of the phone calls that we get during the day.Some of the calls have to be returned the next business day. The most enjoyable part of the job is the interaction with the patients and seeing their medical needs met. The downfall of this practice is that their is new room for growth. Once you have mastered the task you are assigned to do there is no lateral move to enhance your capabilities.

Coordinated patient appointments for procedures through schedulers and recall department. Relayed necessary information to the ten staff physicians, anesthesiologist etc. Gathered information, created and established a recall system in Nextgen. Maintained and updated current insurance information. Knowledge of blocked time and scheduling procedures within the GI lab. Answered phones, took messages and returned calls as needed. Communicated specific patient needs to the GI lab ie antibiotics, scopes. Read and reportd pathology results as they related to the recall system. Knowledge of pathology guidelines and criteria as determined by the ASGE for follow up status.

I had been a happy employee of Digestive Healthcare for the past 10 years 7 months. Over the past year there has been a few interesting concepts taking place as they experience management change from top to bottom(Executive Director, Operations Manager, and Billing Office manager). Although Digestive Healthcare of GA. has a decent 401k plan the medical benefits are not so decent neither are they cost effective. My main concerns with this company are the current medical benefits,the lack of room for career growth,and the lack of posting available positions to allow interested,qualified employees to apply.

You are extremely busy at any position.  It is a very difficult, stressful and busy job.  Management has their own set of rules.  The two in charge calls everyone “mean girls” if they try to complain about others not pulling their weight.  Each role in the office affects each role, so if someone is not doing their job efficiently, it slows down or adds stress to you.  Management is a big joke.  They believe people who make up lies about you and don’t even ask for your side of what happened. Even if you have solid evidence of what happened, you will get wrote up for something you didn’t even do wrong.  It’s a very toxic place to work.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
There wasn’t any. Staff were rude and unprofessional and swore at other staff and talked a lot about very personal stuff and management was well aware.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The staff had clicks and treated new staff very rudely.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile and toxic. A lot of workplace bullying.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy if you’re the IV nurse. 40-50 iv’s a day with no lunch while PACU nurses sit around and talk about drinking.

I began my employment at DHC in their Atlanta office and transferred to the Fayette location shortly afterward. People always say your job is just your job. I truly consider myself blessed and fortunate to have been a part of that practice. People genuinely cared about your well being. You were not just a number and I still have strong friendships with people there despite having left over eight years ago. The practice has grown considerably but i will always consider them one of the best employers I've ever had.

As a float for the office I usually went into work not knowing where I would be placed. The position wouldn't work for people who need consistency. I was responsible for maintaining patient flow and assisting at least three doctors with in-office procedures. I learned a lot about the digestive system working there and problem solving. The hardest part of the job was not knowing where I would be placed for the day and the most enjoyable part was aiding the physicians in procedures.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Building relationships with patients and certain providers.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Horrific gossiping from not only fellow employees but management as well. If you had to be out, leave work, what ever the reason, you had to find your own coverage rather than the manager doing that. Over worked, under paid, benefits not as promised. Favoritism is very high here.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile, bullying, and unprofessional.

I work for Digestive Health Care in Fayetteville currently! I can tell you I have worked for other digestive centers locally and  this company far exceeds what I thought it would. My manager is very understanding, fair, and respects me snd my work! I love it here and don’t plan on leaving here! I highly recommend this company to work. I love all the physicians here and the staff is like family!  There are MANY employees here that have been here 20 or 30+ plus years. That says a lot!

This is a tough job where there are 12+ doctors that all want different types of notes, treatment modalities, and diagnostics for their patients and they are very unhappy if you don't meet their expectations or if a patient gets offended by you suggesting they try a different diet or natural approach. This job is best suited for someone who is not an independent thinker and likes to work long hours, which often meant coming earlier and staying later than planned. If you don't make the cut, they will cut you first.
