They'll woo you with promises of a great culture, tons of room for advancement, etc. 

The reality will set in shortly after you get started. If you're a fit, straight, white guy - you might even get the shifts they promise when you're hired, though I wouldn't count on it. 

Coworkers are all pretty good, albeit "clicky" and the "lifers" are quite miserable. 

Some managers try to help, and then get burnt out and turned over every few months. The ones who stick around do nothing to help the business, just cover their own backs. 

Be careful as to what you say and who you say it to; there are many hidden relationships and most everyone within these 4 walls loves the drama and aren't trustworthy. 

The amount of employee on employee theft has skyrocketed since the new management team has taken over (purses, cell phones, server cash books) and the GM won't even bother looking back at the cameras to help figure it out. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The allow you to have a free meal; but good luck getting it.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are micro managed by people have never worked as a server. They set you up for failure and you have to brown nose the managers to get good shifts. The customers do not tip. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic workplace. Half the employees are always fighting each other and the other half are drunk. Most of the staff is the general manager’s family members (daughters, nieces, son-in-law, etc).

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Crazy busy because they triple seat everyone, the food is taking 45 minutes, there is a hour wait at the door and they ran out of ribs and chicken at 7PM. Guest are mad and do not tips; like I’m cooking the food.

Everyday at Dinosaur BBQ was eventful and a new learning experience. Because the restaurant was located only steps away from the Arena, we received an influx of all types of people: different cultures, level of income and expectations. Within one shift, I would encounter a large spectrum of folks. My people skills and bubbly personality was often tested during events. But, we  were always on stage and had to appease even the most difficult guests. We often received a bad reputation for being in a high crime area and therefore had to work triple hard to dispel any misconceptions. My coworkers, like the guests were very different from one another, which made the environment pretty enjoyable. The thing that was most difficult was also the most enjoyable- dealing with so many different kinds of people.

A typical day at work was just getting to meet new people and getting to know why they were excited about dino coming to newark.
I learned that all management doesnt have waht it takes to be a manager and in oreder to deal with people you have to be a peoples person.
When dinosaur first first opened the management team was great and as time went and new managers came everything it made a once fun atmosphere very miserable to work in.
I had some great co-workers that were awesome team players.
The hardest part of the job was adjusting to new attitudes of people that werent really there for you the employee when it came to issues.
The most enjoyable part of the job as I mentioned was getting to know many different people from different walks of life.

Coming in set up your area before opening the store like ,machines,setting up the line prep or cook anything necessary for the day. I learn how to make different items from the south. Management really don't do anything just walk around and push you until you get agravatted,they will not help you even if you ask for help.They send you other employees just so they can walk around harrassing employees and hiding in the corners..totally a waste.Co-workers was ok some of them good and hard workers and others thinking they are over anybody and very lazy. Hardest part of the job is see yourself doing your job and the others and don't be appreciated.And the most enjoyable was to be off the clock....and at home.

At first you think it's the job of a lifetime, then things turn very quickly after management training. If your ideas are better than the kitchen director or managing partner, they become paranoid, and they will make it uncomfortable and terrible to come to work everyday. If they see you talking to the COO or Director of Operations, and the upper management likes your ideas, they will both work to get you fired. There training program does not prepare you, however, if you have been in the food industry for a long time, you will pick up how to run your shift easily.

best part of the job is they go threw mangers every 6 to 8 months so if you don't like this one don't worry the next one you might like . honestly if the management team didn't blame each other and actually cared even a little about there employees then maybe the Dino culture would come to life but its not. most managers have a chip on there shoulders as if i should bow my head to them when talking..... they want to over work you but not pay you more. the food is good i wont tell any crazy stories on here because there food is type decent .

it was a fun work environment and everyone that wasn't in management made you feel at home. The management went downhill and became prejudice on my second year working there when new management took over. Did not care to listen to the actual workers at store meetings and would only talk themselves, explain to hold their questions until the end and then leave once they decided they were done talking. did not take anyones real issues seriously especially when it had to do with the restaurant. extremely rude and very stand off when it comes to their employees.

They mean well they just could never get anything together. Really bad communications between management and employees, focus on minutia while the place is unraveling. Stuff always in disrepair for extended periods. Example: worked for 18 months at Newark store. Elevator for ice and other heavy items was inopoerable for 11 of them. smaller employees could not replenish ice for drinks so larger worker were constantly tasked with this work which required traversing a lot of stairs repeatedly every shift. SUCKED

If you're looking for a position where you automatically feel apart of the team Dino is the place to go. The culture is beyond anything I and many other employees have experienced at previous restaurant jobs. Although there is a familial charm, like anything, there are still many cons. I'm not sure how it is now, but when I was there management was very immature. You get under their skin once and your whole schedule is down to 3 days. Oh and like any other job there is plenty of hierarchy. plus side you'll make decent money with barely any side work.
