Downey Community Health Center

Downey Community Health Center showed the importance of care towards its residents and towards its employee. The quality of care and life is their number one goal. 

I was given the opportunity to start my Supervisor role in the Dietary Department. Always had the support of the administrator, the owner and other department heads. Great collaboration within everyone and love the feeling of family participation in candle light dinner and the care of their love ones. 

I recommend anyone who was to work with great employees and they feel appreciative for the work they do.

It was a fairly standard nursing home where I took care of geriatric patients providing hygiene, assisting in feeding, joining in their party socials. Until I passed my LVN then started working in station 3 which deals with rehabilitation patients giving med and taking care of their wounds. I only worked there for 8 months. Just a standard nursing care. Benefits were not great. Co workers we we’re not that close.

A typical day at work was to clock in station 1 walk across station 2 to the psych unit .we would have a meeting 15 meeting after arrival to discuss any problems and discuss our day schedule,every day was a different task.From morning walks for residents ,educational classes, guarding the doors ,and charting of residents care plans.

Being productive busy, helping family with patients that are residing with us,. Very friendly place. Co-workers were awsome friendly, sense of humor easy to get along with very helpful.  The hardest part of the job I would say is collections. calling patients responsible part, and try to collect past due delinquent accounts.  Most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with patients, and making them smile and feel comfortable.

The facility is very beautiful and diverse. CNAs are always working and going above and beyond for the residents. The residents are beautiful people who deserve the best care in world.

Many workers that do not care about patients at all and are just there to make a quick buck excluding some staff who actually care. Management does not care about staff. Owner only cared about Medicare patients for the money and doesnt even attempt to get involved by any means necessary.

Exciting and Challenging work culture serving the best interests of the entire community by coordinating board of directors, medical staff, community members, financial donors and networking events.  Working the Company Vision of making a difference in healthcare.

By far my favorite place to work was here. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming made going to work a lot easier I recommend everyone to apply here if you want to actually enjoy where you work.

Everything about this place is horrible, how CNA’s are treated, how patients are treated , how rude the nurses & supervisors are, workplace is horrible , awful smell inside

I enjoyed volunteering at the Downey Community Health center, all the workers were enthusiastic and ready to work. Assisting the senior citizens gave me a feeling of gratitude. I would recommend for volunteering or working.
