DFG is an extremely poorly managed company that does not value their employees.  They were recently acquired, and there is constant animosity between the new owners and the family, resulting in a lot of misinformation being communicated,  financial instability, and poor staff morale.  

Upper management operates like a clique. They take no accountabilty for the disorganization and inefficiency of the company, and put the blame on their employees and new ownership.  Employees are pushed very hard to deliver results, but rarely given any recognition.  Growth and internal promotions are rare, with most employees leaving frustrated and on poor terms.  There is no regard for work life balance.  They expect you to always be available, even scheduling meetings on Saturdays.  They don't trust their employees, monitoring every keystroke with management constantly accusing employees of not working hard enough.  They will look for reasons not to pay out promised bonuses and undercut their staff.   Bottom line - don't waste your time working here.  


I enjoyed working here for almost 2 years.  I love what I do.  I love working in insurance for almost 5 years.  The life division was recently laid off due to the CEO wanting to move everything to the PA office.  (he is about to become a father and have surgery so that was the reason behind it)  I feel like communication is key and when you communicate with your employees and make them feel like part of the team, you will have not only stronger employees, but a stronger and more reliable company.  I loved my agents, and miss working with them.  I would be happy to become a case manager again, and call on those agents to work with me again.  They brought in a LOT of money and I look forward to working with them again.  I loved the people I worked with in Richmond.  They were hard workers and enjoyed what they did.  I came in early every day and stayed after 5 because I truly cared about what I did, and when you have that passion you are destined to succeed.

At Duncan, there are a lot of opportunities for advancement.  They will pay for licensing and certifications and you have the opportunity to move around into the many different areas of the company.  The social atmosphere is also great!  We have lot of company events, Greenhouse Winery, Bowling, and Kerbers Dairy.  There is something for everyone at Duncan.

Duncan is a great company to work for!  There is a lot of support and opportunity for growth.   It's a great group of professionals to work with and the owners are very nice!  They treat everyone fairly and with respect.  They give back to the local communities by dedicating their time and resources.  Great benefits package with very little out of pocket expense and competitive wages!

Duncan is a close knit company.  Lots of long term employees and good management. PTO is good, you start out with 15 days and can get as much as 24 within 5 years.  The owners couldn't be nicer people.  I really love working with my clients.  Coworkers are top notch! I don't plan to leave anytime soon, its a great place to work.

Duncan Financial could provide great opportunity to some, but not others. If you are not familiar with the finance world, they don't bother to train you. They let you sink or swim on your own. If you do have the knowledge already, it is a place where you could build a lifelong career.

They do not value the talent under their roof and will not promote from within

Overall
A company that cares about the clients but not their employees so much. Management is close knit like a clique and do not necessarily get hired based on qualifications but more so on who they know. Growth is not an option.

Nice owners, the employees that worked there were very family oriented and a nice group. It is a clean place to work. The owners are unaware that management is running their company into the ground and pushing good quality workers out of the company

Insecure and inexperienced management in many areas.  Failed to provide room to learn and grow or to offer any autonomy in the projects I worked on.  Micromanagement was a big issue.  Jaded me from a young age as to what a working environment should be like.
