Everyone seemed nice and supportive at first, but this is to determine who you are: are you someone who can fit into their culture of back-stabbing and talking bad about everyone, or do you just want to try and do your job? If you belong to the latter, expect to not last long. If you do not give into the small office gossip the gossip WILL turn against you. As an example, I got along so well with another employee that this employee was transferred to another office. When the same thing happened with the one that was brought in, I was let go. Why? Because I stand up for myself and inequality and would not bend over to get the approval of others, as that's what my job would have to do. 

Middle-school behaviors aside, do not expect support from management either. You get training for about 1 maybe 2 weeks and are then expected to know all there is. If you make a mistake, watch out for your supervisor to chew you, spit you out, and throw you under the bus. Above all, you're expected to be a magician and come up with caregivers to cover hours while more and more clients are brought in and the caregivers dwindle or do whatever they want and not show up when they want without consequence; HR is a joke (in reality the entire management is). Lots of crude language in the office and caregivers stealing time (which in technicality is stealing Medicaid funds for unperformed services), all while management enables this.

Overall, very unprofessional, unethical, and toxic environment. Prepare to be bullied by clients, caregivers, and other office staff. If you have any self-respect and self-confidence, do yourself a favor and stay away. If you like this sort of environment, please disregard and enjoy one step above trailer trash.

I was so excited to work for this company and wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. I enjoyed my training in the Bloomington office, and the nurses and management were very supportive. However, working at the Columbus office was a nightmare. They were desperate for an RN Case Managers and just wanted to put me on the schedule ASAP.  It was deemed an inconvenience to the scheduler when I requested more time for training.
This company neither values its employees nor the clients. The clients are consistently understaffed with caregivers, and the nurse-to-staff ratio and RN caseloads are overwhelming. Also, the expectations for travel are unrealistic, and the mileage compensation is well below the national average. Of course, this information was not disclosed during the interview process.
The pay for the RN Case Manager position at this company is the lowest in the industry, and you can expect to wear out your vehicle within a year with the amount of travel required. Be prepared to set boundaries.
There was an extraordinary amount of turnover due to low pay and poor treatmen/training of new employees.
Management and office personnel would rather gossip and start rumors rather than focus on providing quality care, training, and being helpful and supportive.
As an employee, I did not feel respected, valued, or appreciated by the company.
On a positive note, I learned and developed new skills daily, and the clients were wonderful to work with. This made it heartbreaking and difficult to leave.

Work was not that hard. Most of the time unless it was a patient who really needed to be cared for more intensely. Problem I had was using my car and gas for clients needs and making it to pay day using my money to make it to clients homes. They paid way under per milage and wouldnt get till 2 weeks. Also hours were moved around into different pay weeks to avoid over time because they dont pay over time. I worked a 72 hr shift due to weather and other employees couldnt get there so I did my shift their shift stayed the night helping client during the night and then my next shift the next day and was promised I'd get the over time and did not because it was moved around for the hours the client was allowed not cool. Some times clients would want us to paint, cut grass, clean porches, etc.The company would stand up and let them know we are there for the care of them only. Especially when family members would think we are there maids too.

One upside is scheduling flexibility but the cons outweigh the benefit. Pay is not great for the workload, possible working environments  or cost of gas in terms of millage pay. communication from management is almost non existent.  benefits offered are minimal  and they seem to find ways to keep from giving them to you.   Flexibility in location will also be taken full advantage of, so if you prefer to stay to a specific area set upon hire do not agree to a one time  shift outside of that area just to help out.. they will take that as an opportunity to place you outside of your originally agreed on area on a reoccurring basis. Several of their clients use the home health company as a cleaning service as I’ve spent several shifts doing nothing but cleaning the clients home and running errands for them while  they requested no assistance with personal care activities. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I found the administion helpful when I had questions.  They provided on site CPR certification. Scheduling was clear and responsive.  Personal protective equipment was provided if you went to the office. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Electronic charting was OK when I learned how. Most of the information was distributed electronically and was not able to communicate well.  I had to use my own Android smartphone to send in charting and GPS.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I came into the company per my client.  I could no longer find a client when that case ended. I  was treated respectfully when I was in the office, however, I never felt part of the company.  I felt ghosted.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I worked in a client's home which I had a routine.

Work from 8-1700 w/occasional over time.  Worked on salary.  Saw 5-10 pts/day.  Stressful some days.  Great team work from staff.  Was promoted to QA after a year in the field.  Learned about state compliance in documentation, State reviews, Training staff in documentation & updates, reviewed charts & did State submissions.  Significantly improved my documentation skills & knowledge in State policy/procedures.  Co-Workers made my work fun.  The hardest part of the job was keeping up with deadlines & juggling the many other responsibilities I had outside of QA.  Responsible for Staff training, updating vaccinations, handling calls from clients/Care Givers with questions/concerns, & learning a new computer program.

I enjoyed working with the people and as well the coworkers elders journey is an all-around great place to work. A typical day consisted of visiting many different clients and assisting them with household needs I learned a lot from working there from transfers to being able to converse with elderly people. You have to pretty well manage yourself of course you have somebody who checks in on you but you have to have the responsibility to fulfill your tasks on your own. You aren't really in the office very much, so the majority of your work is in the field. The hardest part of the job is fielding all your clients in the allotted amount of time, but at the same time the most enjoyable part is completing your week with all clients met and all their needs taken care of.

I worked for Elder's Journey as an LPN doing private duty when the company had just gotten started.  At that time, there weren't many clients that needed 1:1 nursing services.  Had it not been for that, I probably wouldn't have left.  I returned years later as an RN, after the company had grown exponentially.  I have never enjoyed a nursing job as much as this one.  Elder's Journey cares.  They care about their clients.  They care about their employees.  They care about employee families.  It's a fabulous place to work for fabulous people.  Schedules are flexible- doesn't mean you won't be asked to pick up shifts- but you're never forced to do anything, and you won't be made to feel guilty when the answer is no.  I'd recommend Elder's Journey to anyone!

I love health care I do get attached very easily and I'm good at it

Typical day walk in there usually awake check and make sure linens are clean and no accident. Get them out of bed shower dress them put clean sheets on bed set them up in chair make breakfast fo
r them while they eat start cleaning the house some days go do some errands like take them grocery shopping then they are exhausted from being out they may nap and I'll finish repairing dinner before I leave. Usually have another client right after
