Don’t know where to start. Can’t say it was all bad, I met some of the most amazing people here, but with the good apples come the rotten ones. Working here was a frustrating and disappointing experience due to poor management, unfair treatment, and a toxic work environment. One of the biggest issues was management’s hypocrisy. They frequently gossiped about employees, yet if anyone else was even suspected of “gossiping,” they were reprimanded. The double standard created a culture of fear and distrust among staff.

Nepotism and favoritism were also rampant. Promotions and opportunities weren’t based on hard work or skill but on personal relationships with management. No matter how much effort you put in, if you weren’t on their good side (or in their circle at all), there was no room for growth. Employees who were well-connected received special treatment, better schedules, and advancement opportunities, while the rest were overlooked or even pushed out.

The company also made promises about benefits and incentives that were later revoked without explanation. Perks that were advertised during hiring were quietly removed, and when employees asked about them, they were either ignored or given vague excuses.

Overall, the workplace felt like a toxic cycle of favoritism, mismanagement, and broken promises. Hardworking employees were undervalued, while those who played into office politics thrived. It was a demotivating and unhealthy environment that made it clear—success wasn’t based on merit but on how well you fit into management’s personal agenda.

If you are new to the field then this is a good place to learn if you like a steady pace  clinics with good new technology, but don’t stay too long. Get what you need to get and LEAVE.

staff was super friendly and helpful, however leadership team is a JOKE. Does not help whatsoever ever and isn’t understanding of the struggles that the staff go through. 

Management is always lost or confused and only cares about planning birthdays and pot lucks  for staff. Likes to micromanage and has no experience in dental what so ever and lacks communication and doesn’t practice good  communication skills or personal hygiene. 

You hardly get to take a break. You’re always told “you’re obligated to take your break” but how is that possible when you’re overworked trying to abide to the patients side or when you try to take a break, you are pulled from it to do a task. 

Management has been changed 3 times… interim dental director is a joke and makes rude comments. Talks highly of one’s self but lacks the empathy and sympathy for staff just because they’re  above them. 

Overall I don’t recommend working here, they don’t care about you’re mental or well being here. The dentist are amazing and I have to agree there are some amazing staff.  Also there is no bonus or potential pay increase. 

A word of advice to management. Hopefully you spend the company money on your staff because the staff works too hard.
Running and Buying yourself food and etc everyday is so unacceptable. Do your job and help us work. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Skills and hands on experience. Working with great providers and some hard working staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Depending on location how well managed its run. Schedules are given at the end of each week mainly late Friday afternoon. Constant schedule changes, consecutive Saturdays. Non existent rotation always excuses for the same staff being scheduled Saturday's. Constant Micro management policy changes fo preferred employees. Very unprofessional approach by management. The open door for concerns is non existent. Retaliation for asking the wrong question and or voicing concern.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Depending on location, the downtown location is micro managed. The manager can be checking on you making small talk one day and then say you weren't on task at that moment the next day. Calling you at your desk while you're on lunch and if you answer your getting in trouble for answering while off the clock. Seeing it's your manager isn't an excuse it's like being on edge anything can be used against you. Any reason is means for a meeting. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy work day trying to stay on task and complete duties in a timely manner while being on edge.

What is the best part of working at the company?
A very supportive and knowledgeable HR team who I can depend on to guide me in the right direction.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part would be different departments do not coordinate and collaborate with each other. For example, the Compliance department, Workforce department, Call Center department, and Clinical Operation department do not collaborate well together as a whole organization. As an organization all department should collaborate and be on the same page. During meetings with the departments, there is solution or resolution to solve a COMMEN mistake or error. Instead of cultural justice, figuring out what happen and how do we move on, they focus on who made the mistake and we should the staff by disciplinary action. There is no cultural justice in the organization.    

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hard to say because the leadership is the problem. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I enjoy working with my colleagues at my health center. We are a great team at the health center because we communicate and support each other.

Elica has a highly punitive and demoralizing work environment. The management structure enables favoritism, inconsistent enforcement of policies, and a culture of fear-based accountability. Employees are routinely written up for calling out sick if they have no accrued time, regardless of the circumstances. There is no grace, no flexibility, and no room for basic human needs. Time-off approvals are inconsistent and often appear to favor certain individuals over others, creating a sense of unfairness and frustration across teams.Communication is poor, and leadership often fails to provide clear guidance or support. Concerns raised by staff are commonly dismissed or deflected, which discourages transparency and trust. Rather than focusing on development or morale, management seems more concerned with discipline and control.
Turnover is high, and burnout is common. The environment lacks psychological safety, and employees often feel undervalued and replaceable.

Lots of new management that say they want to make good changes, but also don’t recognize good workers. I was there 4 years and barely re or ex any pay raise. I knew my job and knew it well. Multiple depts always came to me for advise and yet I made less than allot of call center reps and I was helping patients self manage their health. I was promised so many things and then nothing ever happened. They always hired someone new or rehired someone who was previously fired to do what I was promised or work where I was promised. If you are not in the close not culture of the company you won’t go anywhere. They also promote people by the “talk they talk” but don’t look at the “walk they walk” my last director talked in circles (fast and always had to ask multiple times for clarity) emails were very punitive and dictating, almost like finger pointing. I’m curious as to where the “open door policy” went because trying to get ahold of someone who screens emails and only responds at 10:30 AT NIGHT doesn’t seem appropriate for best serving patients in a timely and efficient manner.

During my time at Elica, I witnessed and actively participated in the organization's transformative journey. Without a doubt, it was a nice experience, not only due to the incredible individuals I had the pleasure of working with but also the meaningful work we carried out. The onboarding process included a comprehensive orientation conducted by the hiring team, followed by essential employee training. The hiring and training team demonstrated remarkable friendliness throughout the process. Instead of confrontations and negativity when faced with challenges, the company fostered an environment of collaboration and idea-sharing. However, the aspect that truly stood out was the company's unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion, an invaluable experience in itself.

My job is like being in a high-stakes reality TV show—there’s always someone watching and critiquing every little move I make. It’s bonkers how much the bosses micromanage here. They're on us for constant updates and have this obsession with detail that can make anyone’s head spin. 

But honestly, what keeps me coming back every day isn’t the job itself—it’s the people. My other MAs are the best. We've all bonded over the shared experience of being micromanaged to the max. We're in the trenches together, sharing laughs, swapping stories, and always there to back each other up when the times hit hard or when we need a quick sanity check.

These folks aren't just coworkers; they're the lifeboat in a sea of corporate craziness. Thanks to them, even the longest days seem a bit shorter, and the toughest things feel a bit lighter. They're the heart of why I stick around—turning what could be just another grind into something pretty special.

The work place was good. It is a growing company and so there were growing pains with moving offices. I moved 4 times in 10 months. While I liked my job and the mission statement appealed to me as serving the poor, in reality, the front desk staff and some of the providers had attitudes with the patients and would routinely assume that just because they were poor, they were looking fr drugs. It could be very frustrating. There was also not a defined job description. I worked on several projects including coordinating a clinical study in conjunction with Kaiser Permenente, the patient centered medical home transition and the annual UDS reports as well as the HRSA monthly guidelines. All of these were interesting.


If you are ready to constant unexpected situations every day, used to really busy environment, enjoy drama, and have no other options, I would say it’s not a bad place to work, some of my coworkers told me they enjoy working in this company and stay there for yearsss like 5-10+ because there is actually a strong community where you feel yourself a part of it
I enjoyed working with my team, the people and Christmas parties actually kept me from leaving
But
There IS micromanagement, depends on the location and your luck, but it’s happening and probably thats the worst part
If you are emotional, and not a stress resistant person, stay away because you may get the worst emotional burnout of your life staying at this place
