Embrace Pet Insurance

I’ve seen some concerning changes at this company over the past year. It feels like the focus has shifted heavily towards maximizing profits, sometimes at the expense of employees and customers. While there was once a strong commitment to providing value, there has been a noticeable increase in policy premiums, which has created frustration for many customers and employees alike.

Leadership has become less transparent, and there’s a noticeable lack of communication regarding company direction. In particular, the claims department has seen promotions given to employees based on in-office presence, which has led to feelings of favoritism among some staff. This, combined with frequent changes in policies and expectations, makes it difficult to stay on track and maintain productivity.

The HR department also needs improvement. Communication is often slow, with employees waiting weeks for responses to inquiries. Some employees have had to go out of their way to get HR’s attention on urgent matters. This lack of responsiveness has made it challenging to trust the department, especially considering the sensitive nature of the personal information involved.

Remote employees, especially those on hourly wages, seem to be treated differently than in-office staff. There’s a noticeable emphasis on in-person collaboration, which has led to insecurity among those working remotely. This disconnect has contributed to a tense atmosphere where job security feels uncertain for many.

Sick leave policies are another point of frustration. Employees in the claims department are encouraged not to take sick days, with a minimal reward ($20) for a full year of attendance. This approach has led to feelings of burnout, especially among employees who are trying to balance their health with work.

Regarding merit raises, I was disappointed to see that after an entire company meeting where leadership emphasized valuing employees, the actual raises were minimal for those who had worked hard and gone above and beyond. It felt like the company’s actions didn’t match its promises, which was discouraging for many employees.

Finally, the lack of support for employees facing verbal abuse from customers is concerning. Despite the severe nature of some threats and insults, there seems to be little accountability for customers who behave poorly, as long as they continue to pay for their policies. This creates a toxic environment and negatively impacts employee well-being.

This company is truly a great one to work for! Although my time there was short & the position I held ended up not being the right fit for me, I have nothing bad to say about Embrace. The workplace culture is so warm & fun - I actually enjoyed going into the office because there was always something positive to look forward to whether it be the pets in the office, LunchOwl lunches, frequent potlucks & breakfasts, happy hour, yoga, etc. Management is very involved with each individual's success & works with anyone who needs the extra help. They are very fair to their departments and make sure to give praise and appreciation to you to assure you, you are an asset to the company. Everyone else is always there if you need help & no one will ever make you feel dumb for asking questions - that's kind of their mantra. The CEO is super friendly and laid-back. She could be firm if needed, but I often found her to be friendly & pleasant to talk to - never made you feel as if you were lower than her on any level. The work itself is monotonous & often tiresome as you're in front of a computer 8 or more hours a day, but the time passed quickly. Benefits are amazing - too many to list so I won't ;). The pay is great & you can work from home twice a week! I will say that for my position, you almost need to be a walking textbook in order to thrive there. If you are a tech & have a base knowledge, but don't know all of the rare conditions or if you're like me, where you were shunned from learning the how's & why's of conditions while working in a hospital, then you probably won't do well there. It's a great place to work, but really know your vet med!!!

Working at Embrace has been one of the best career choices I have made. I started as a customer care rep and moved into a different department since but throughout my journey with Embrace I have felt supported, cared for, and overall very happy with the company I work for. 
I'm not sure what experiences some of the above reviews were referencing when it comes to management because I have only had positive experiences with management in both of the departments I've worked with. Not a single person at Embrace is unpleasant to work with and since COVID shut down our office, I truly miss going to work but I'm glad we have the flexibility as a company to work from home.
The leadership at Embrace couldn't be more accommodating and caring. They truly love and support their employees and it's such an inclusive environment where all ideas and people are welcome.
The benefits you'll receive at Embrace far outweigh any employer I have previously worked for. As employees we receive free food, gifts, bonuses, parties, and much more. You can also receive tuition reimbursement if you're a student, as well as great healthcare and 401k benefits with a contribution match. Embrace also matches all charitable donations for their employees and participates in community events such as the Pride Ride, local fundraisers, telethons, and more.
Overall, some of the jobs can be tough (customer service is customer service everywhere) but you'll never be around such supportive and amazing coworkers. If you're considering Embrace as an employer, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to work.

I was a remote worker for Embrace and was excited to break into the insurance industry. The first 90 days of training to be an advisor there is no PTO available, you are closely managed regarding what you say on calls, and if you don't meet the minimum sales numbers you will immediately be let go. Turnover rate being high is an understatement for this role. This position requires being on the ball at all times to take calls typically 20-40 per day. You will be required to work one Saturday per month, but you will get time and a half for the overtime. 

Benefits aren't bad, and pay is alright if you are able to make steady commission. If you are considering working here you should look at the google reviews for Embrace from customers, there are many instances I've had of customers yelling, cursing, and just being outright furious at me on the phone for having their claims denied or for pre-existing conditions (sometimes for good reason). 

Be aware this is something you will have to deal with if you are ever on the service side. Culture and direct management is good, upper management is mediocre at best and made it clear that there is ZERO opportunities for remote employees to be promoted which is why I left. 

I have been working at Embrace for 2+ years and have had an outstanding experience. Here are some of the things that make this company a great place to work:

Work-life balance: The company recognizes that employees have lives outside of work and offers flexible work arrangements. This allows employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Benefits and perks: Embrace offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. In addition, the company provides great perks such as free snacks, team outings, and wellness programs.
Overall, I highly recommend Embrace as a great place to work.

I never thought I would not be working in a veterinary clinic, but that all changed when I heard about Embrace. It has given me the opportunity to continue helping animals, but without the physical and mental strain of working in a clinic. As an adjuster, although I do not get the hands on part of working with animals, I am constantly learning more about vet med and still educating pet parents. 

Embrace has also greatly surpassed my expectations as a company. The biggest part of it is, we all act as a team from the top down. No matter what your role is, you are just as important as everyone else you work with. I have never worked for a place that appreciates their employees as much as Embrace. The benefits are out of this world as well, which just shows how much pride Embrace takes in taking care of their employees. Even with COVID, we were all able to be safe by working remotely while Embrace constantly made sure we had what we needed and that we were all doing well (both mentally and physically). 

All in all, the culture, the core values, and the people are all what makes Embrace both unique and a fantastic place to work and I am constantly recommending people to come work with me! 

I was so disappointed with this company. They will shower you with "mental health is our biggest priority" and "we are all one big family" when that is nowhere near the culture they offer. They play favorites and often shove the out-of-state remote employees to the side. Management will make you feel bad for being sick, taking time off, and running late due to an emergency, often guilt-tripping you into returning to work for the evening shift if you aren't feeling well. This company spends more time and money to convince the world it is an amazing place to work than actually working to become just that. Culture aside, the job itself is insanely stressful, draining, degrading, and, more often than not, unfulfilling.  If you are a loving and passionate pet parent like I was when I applied for this job and are considering it, please remember that this is an insurance company at the end of the day. Most of our calls will consist of rightfully frustrated customers that are confused about policies that are literally designed to be confusing and deceiving. The best thing I did for my mental health was leaving this job. 

A typical day at work 
-If you enjoy getting yelled at on the phone all day then this is the job for you. I think embrace does a good job educating the pet parents before they purchase a policy. However, it seems to go in one ear and out the other with majority of the parents. Then you are there to extinguish the fire or watch it burn because nothing you say or do can make them happy. 

What I learned 
-I learned a lot about how pet insurance works and I do feel this is one of the better insurance companies out there . 

Management 
-Management is ok. They definitely play favorites and can sometimes be unprofessional with in the company. 

Work place culture 
-Embrace prides themself on work place culture and it shows. 

Hardest part of the job 
-Dealing with irate pet parents and the review system the company has. After each call the pet parent can rate your service and they are not always the nicest. So then those calls get pulled by your lead for you to review together and I just never found that helpful.

Most enjoyable part of the job 
- the opportunity to work from home and the perks 

Embrace Pet Insurance is a great place to work if you are looking to give your body a break from the veterinary clinic. We still get to help animals get the care they need but we are able to do it in the financial aspect by helping their parents receive reimbursement. The claims team is a fun group of vet techs with that same weird sense of humor we all have in clinic. We get to work from home, which really helps us get time to spend with our family or run our own pets to the vet for checkups. Management supports us both in work and personal goals. We are encouraged to take time off of work to recharge and relax. Basically this is a good place for any tech who still wants to utilize their medical knowledge but their body can't keep up with the day to day clinical needs anymore. 

Getting a job at Embrace had seen such a give improvement to my overall well-being and happiness, it's almost startling. As a vet tech during the pandemic, my stress levels were at an all time high and I finally decided to make a change. I found Embrace at the right time, the hiring process was fast, and they get you right into training. Certainly a lot of information to process, but being able to my job remotely, constantly learning new things about the vet field, and lots of nice little touches that make me feel appreciated as an employee. There's definitely some monotony to the work, but they're will aware of that as a company, but it sure beats getting bit in the face or risking exposure to COVID-19.
