I’ve been in healthcare 7 almost 8 years and never in my entire career have I seen such disfunctional company. Staff is treated horribly if they don’t work their lives away, working 60 hours a week because you are forced to stay over it the next shift doesn’t come in. Forced to come in or threatened to be fired even if you have a high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Constantly being bombarded with phone calls, texts messages, and social media messages when you’re off and yelled at if you don’t responded. Talked to like your not a person but an object. More and more heavy work added to your load without even so much as a thanks. Pay is awful. Benefits are poor. Management is severely lacking. Company holds personal grudges against you if you try to speak out on the wrongs being done. Meds go missing. Residents get bruises and have falls but nobody reports it. Kitchen staff doesn’t care about food portions or keeping residents hydrated. Not enough staff. Building is filthy housekeeping is severely lacking as well. This is not assisted living but a poor functioning nursing home. Favoritism is high with those who don’t do their jobs but suck up to the boss like she’s a goddess. Constant fire codes being broken as well as state regulations. Important documents left out for anyone to see. Pictures of residents taken and posted without permission by staff. Lack of care in general. Do not work for this company , it will rob you of the reason you loved healthcare in the first place.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Personally I enjoyed caring for the residents. I liked being a patient care technician. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are expected to do maintenance jobs while doing your job as a PCT, and not be compensated for the additional work...carpet cleaning, unclogging toilets, fixing the toilet, using all towels to clean up the mess....then required to wash and dry them...mopping the floors,  all while caring for the residents on the floor and making regular rounds. It was difficult to get help with things. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There was frequently not enough staffing, management was difficult to contact. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clock in, round, take patients to breakfast, begin showers and laundry, round and  take patients to lunch, round continue showers and laundry, round take patients to dinner, round reports and documentation. 
Nightshift-gather dishes from dining area, round and prepare patients for bed, showers and prepare for bed,  and  do laundry, sweep and mop dining area, wipe down tables, round, tend to patients who do not sleep at night, do laundry from day shift as well, round,document wake patients, get them ready for the day and round, prepare for breakfast report.

The management is extremely poor, rude, if your not a favorite or a butt kisser your nothing to them besides just a body they hire people to fill spots if they don’t like you the push you out. The DON has no business working in the position she is in considering she was FIRED and brought back because she is a butt kisser. You will have absolutely no time for yourself or your family and loved ones they lie and tell you to make your own schedule and they put you where they want you basically if you work there your gonna be a slave. Your better off to continue your search elsewhere. I wasted a lot of my time and life here for them. The residents are neglected, they false document, they never do med orders like they are suppose to, staff marks a meds as given and doesn’t even give them. The DON does care plans and updates UAI and ISPs and NEVER EVEN WORKS ON THE FLOOR she just sits on her butt in her office. The admin does absolutely nothing besides babysits her grandson while she’s working and sits in her offices and VAPES. They are very unprofessional.

I have only just started working here as a concierge, but so far this job has been pretty nice. I work at the front desk as a concierge. The other employees are very friendly and approachable. The executive manager and other managers seem very knowledgeable and know what they are doing and what they want. The concierge position itself is nice because it does not get too busy, so you have time to work on other things on your laptop. The little bistro nextdoor to the front desk is nice as well. The free meal from the kitchen is also very nice. The Manassas campus where I am employed is brand new and is very nice and clean inside. The two negatives would be that I got hired thinking i would be able to work 5 or 6 days a week, but upon starting have realized that might be a lower amount like 3 or 4 days a week (or less). Also, upon being hired I am not exactly full time or part time, so I do not get any benefits. But besides that it is a nice place to work so far!

There are no words to describe how awful this company is.  Standard of care for residents is promoted as the best in town, but that is far from reality.  Management treats you like a commodity, are completely dishonest and manipulating.  The pay is terrible if you aren't one of their "favorites".  You are obligated to work every other weekend no exceptions.  You are obligated to stay for another 8 hour shift if your replacement doesn't come in.  The employees have no respect for their fellow co-workers and will not think twice about leaving you on for a 16-hour shift.  No structure or organization.  One rule will be enforced on one employee then completely disregarded when a different employee breaks the same rule.  There is nowhere near enough CNA's to care for an almost 100 bed facility 70% assisted living, 30% memory care.  4-6 CNA's on staff per shift.    


Do not risk your license or certification you worked so hard for!  Stay away please!

I have had the pleasure of working with the senior population for many years.  English Meadows is renewing my confidence in the Health Care industry when it comes to doing the right thing for their residents and staff.  They welcome you into the English Meadows family.   They truly are a family that will go above and beyond for their staff.  

Our jobs are never easy taking care of others and you must come ready to work.  If you want to advance within the company, opportunities are available.  You can study for your RMA, PCA and advance within other departments as well.  But you have to be willing to work for it!!

The benefits package can only be as good as what the insurance companies are offering for benefits.  English Meadows is very comparable to other companies their size.  COVID - 19 has affected everyone's job culture.  We remain EM Strong and will only get better.

Being watched on camera every move you make and being texted about it is unreal! At night, you must sit at a table in the hallway directly in front of the camera so the director of nursing can watch you breath plus it has sound. Med techs would try to control you as a supervisor and talk down to you over the walkie talkie. I once had a med tech ask me to stop showers to come downstairs to get a breathing treatment out of a room for her SHE WAS ALREADY IN. Plus, call ins are non stop! If you are red dotted you must stay if 11-7 didn't show meaning you work your reg 8 hours plus another shift. All the managers does is look for something to complain about. I don't recommend working here.The facility is real nice but management ruined it.

English Meadows is a very busy resident oriented community that is almost a year old. Compared to a lot of facilities in the area I would have to say English Meadows would be my pick for my family member. They have a lot of activities with an awesome activity director who encourages participation. The meals are nicely prepared and the rates can't be beat! They do not nickel and dime the residents here. One flat rate is what I love!! The owner comes by right often too and socializes with the staff and residents. No where else in this area do you get personal attention like that without jumping over corporate nonsense !

The owners mean well and have a great vision.  They're good guys and it's a shame that they've hired incompetent clowns as the admin/supervisors for this campus.  The upper management in this building are great at blaming the problems that they're having on the employees under them and that makes it a really hard place to work.  They're constantly short-handed, therefore they are always having to mandate staff to stay (sometimes 2-3 times a week).  The benefits are terrible and the pay is dismal so it's really no wonder that their turnover is so high. The residents are the ONLY saving grace to this job, they are pretty awesome and it makes me sad that they're living under such management.

Great environment, good beliefs within the company and communities , management always has a open door , management is always supportive, and helpful in any situation
