I know this says that I am a former employee. I want to make it clear that being let go from EPI is a very good thing and I am not writing this as a discruntled employee. I am just stating facts. A typical work day for me was about 9-10 hours. Depending on which division you work in/which manager you work for, will determine a lot about how communication, evaluations, and rules apply. The upper management that I worked with always was concerned of being fired on any given day. There was no job security at any level so the managers seem to do whatever it took to keep their jobs. The plant that I worked in was the main printing division where some of the employees have not had raises in as many as 13 years. They stay because the job market is so poor at this time. My last review was 5 years prior to me leaving the company. I had not received a raise since. The company has this rule that there is a top pay scale for each job and that is all you will ever make. You get nothing else, not even the occasional cost of living raise. Some employees have worked years and never even reached the top of the scale. One thing I can say nice about EPI is they have some of the most loyal employees I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Even the temporary workers that have been there for years come in everyday and work hard to do a good job. That is another part of the problem though. EPI also has holding in WSI where they recruit their temporary employees. There are "temporary" employees that have worked 40 or more hours a week for years and are still not full time employees. It's a win/win for EPI because They can bring in temps and not pay them benefits, and get the money paid from EPI to WSI. EPI does over 80 million a year in sales, and it's employees couldn't survive on just their wages. If the government raises the minimum wage, some of EPI's employees will have to finally be given raises. It's too bad companies are allowed to continue to run like this.

EPI has a complete lack of knowledge on how to manage time/projects with the number of their employees. Countless times you will be put under fire because of the numerous "hot jobs" that need to be done but there is simply just not enough people to complete all of these jobs on time and done well. More often than not quantity will be put over quality and employees will be worked to the bone and it's still not enough.

There is absolutely a hierarchy in favoritism at EPI. On any given shift there are only 2-4 trusted employees. These employees will be put on the same jobs and machines because the managers never want to bother training the other employees to do the job that they are hired to do.

The machines they run are old and outdated, not properly maintained and break down often.

Employees are overworked, under paid, and unappreciated. If there is an issue with one employee on a shift it will be treated as the whole shift is the problem and not the individual. If you get trained on any machine make sure it's understood that you want to be paid accordingly to how much you can do there, if you don't they will never pay you what you're worth, and even then you may not get paid what you deserve. Often you will hear management refer to some employees or a whole shift as "idiots" and it does absolutely nothing for employee moral.

Bottom line: they don't care about you as a person, you are only a dollar sign and don't expect to be treated as anything else

Favoritism here will drive you up the wall. I tried my hardest, but made the mistake of taking on more than I could handle, I'll be honest in that regard. However, it was rather intense trying to learn the intricacies of an entire account in less than a week with rushed training. You also only get to work from home if they like you it seems, since one person who started not too long before me was allowed to work remotely and was accomodated with a laptop to take home while sick, but when I caught the flu I was not given any sort of option to keep up with my workload and I was then reprimanded for days after I returned for not having everything prepared and ready. Meetings were rather sticky as they felt more like being put on a hot seat than anything else. If you make a mistake you will be cut off mid-sentence, rudely spoken over, and answered for by whomever feels they are above you. I found the blatant political banter rather uncalled for as well. There is zero reason a pumpkin carving contest should even allow a "Let's Go Brandon" admission. Just all around messy and not worth the headache. Perhaps other positions would've been enjoyable?

Management takes advantage of the people that actually work hard. Expect to have no life working 12 hour days, 6 (sometimes 7) days a week for months at a time. Management is completely unfair, while giving the people who work hard a hard time, yet letting the slackers and people who do nothing get away with whatever they want. And despite working 12 hours doing heavy labor, taking a 5 minute break here and there is unheard of. Management is completely unreasonable with implementing a strict no cell phone policy. No one gets properly trained and the people that do know what they're doing have to deal with people that have no idea what they're doing with very little help from management. They rarely buy new equipment or service the equipment they already have, causing issues with production. You're expected to be a machine, not a human and while making a ton in profit they are unable to afford to give their employees a raise. This place is a joke.

Spent 8 years here. Worked my way up the management until Supervisor, and in almost every department available in the Battle Creek locations.

Management has been great and horrible. Most managers currently employed seem to lack communication and are willing to set up someone they are unhappy with for failure. Instead of talking about issues someone is having with that person is having they don't bring it up so that person can address the issues.  

I was once given a raise, only for the next check everyone on the floor was brought up to above what I was making, it then took 8 months to adjust it for those of us that were originally making more to be making more again.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with the customers on a day to day basis. As well as the hard working employees that genuinely cared about their job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The higher ups only caring about profits going into their pockets. Not receiving the proper training required to achieve goals set.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Always feeling like you're drowning.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Chaotic, everything seems to be broken and everyone is always scrambled.

Typical day consisted of email marketing, social media, adwords campaigns, website updates, press releases and design of marketing collateral and presentations. 

Other duties include photography, promotional products, trade show displays, signage and package design.

I learned to not accept too many responsibilities.

More guidance from management would have been appreciated.

Wonderful group of hardworking co-workers..but too quiet..and lacked creativity.

The hardest part of my job was sitting in meetings when I had other work to get done.

The most enjoyable part was seeing results.

Fast paced environment, work requirements change quickly.  I have had to learn about entering jobs into the system, dealing with several different plant locations and their employees.  

Management is easy to work with and knowledgeable.  The workplace is relaxed but you are required to stay abreast of your job load.  

We have to rely on Account Managers to communicate with customers concerning job status.  

The other employees are enjoyable to work with, and the days go by quickly.

I worked their for 3 months and then was set up by my coworker for failure and fired for her mistake. Horrible culture, you only make it if you're a favorite, they do not like suggestions to better the company because they honestly don't care. They are about the dollar made and everyone is replaceable. I wish they were more open to change than they suggested they were in the interview.

I've been here for a long time and we work hard for our Customers but the management team is engaged and interested in becoming a better company every day for the Customers and Employees. The goal is to work hard and smart, but have a lot of fun doing it. A lot of progress in the past couple of years!

For hard and smart workers it is not difficult to get recognized as someone who is looking to advance.
