I worked in two different departments during my time at FMRS. The first was in the crisis unit, a week long detox program for addicts and people with mental health problems. My coworkers and supervisor there were great and I really enjoyed working there until a storm caved in the roof of one of the unit's buildings and they had to cut down on staff. I was given the choice of being laid off or transferring to another department. 4/5 stars for the crisis unit. I'd go back if I could.

Since I didn't want to be laid off, I took the transfer, which was the worst decision I could have made. I went to Turning Pointe, the 6 month rehab program for pregnant women, which was an absolute nightmare. They were critically understaffed and much of the time, my reliefs never showed up which resulted in me getting mandated and working another 8 hours on top of the shift I'd already worked. Management was poor and never could be bothered to give us warning that we would be mandated, which was an especially big problem on the weekends when they didn't come in. Management would get mixed up in client drama and try spreading it to the rest of the staff. Management also bullied clients that they didn't like and looked for reasons to kick them out. Then, within just 3 weeks of my transfer, I and 4 other employees were fired for petty reasons that could have been rectified with more training. I was accused of not carrying out responsibilities that belonged to the clients themselves or management. 0/5 stars. One of the worst places I've ever worked. They continue to go through employees like water to this day.

The agency as a whole is a mess as well. The higher ups are not interested in anything but penny pinching and can't be bothered to pay to fix real problems until something totally breaks down and then they replace it with something else that's just as shoddy as the old one.

I worked for FMRS for a few years. If I'm being honest those who share the same role (in other companies) as I did were paid about 5 dollars more an hour, we were the most underpaid employees for that specific certification in all of the state. However, their benefit package and Job security is beyond the best I have ever experienced. I always knew my job was secure. They were understanding of life and stressful issues and works with you in every aspect to help when you need time off or even just to leave for a family emergency.  They hire felons and help make a difference in the SUD community. They are all about helping those with a past move forward and I admire them for that, as many places like this don't. My job gave me a sense of purpose and made me feel as if I really could make a difference. My co-workers quickly became lifelong friends and family, and always had a way of providing support, love, and a easy to get along with work environment. I was even offered to have room for advancement if I had decided to further my degree. So if you are looking for a good company FMRS is it. 

I have been with fmrs for over a year now as a case manager with a BSW. This is my first job out of college using my degree. Fmrs has great employees. I have worked for two departments as a Case manager—both depts. work with individuals with serious mental illness and/or homelessness. I have assisted mainly in transporting clients to appts and attending appts and assisting with paperwork for dhhr, HUD, etc. I have a great supervisor who is a total sweetheart. I feel flexible most days in what I can do and how often I see clients and mange my caseload. The strese level is pretty low most days. I just wish the pay was better. However, I know it is a non-profit agency and that it is typical to have lower pay, especially with only a bachelors degree.

I am very pleased overall with my experience so far. However, I have noticed that the environment can sometimes feel a bit cliquey especially between different departments which may unintentionally make it harder for newer or outside team members to fully integrate.

In addition, my department is currently operating with a skeleton crew. This places a significant strain on both staff and clients, as it can limit the level of support and attention that can be provided. I believe that opening additional job positions and increasing staffing levels would make a meaningful difference in both employee well-being and the quality of service delivered.

Overall, I see a lot of potential here, and I think addressing these areas would greatly strengthen both the workplace culture and day-to-day operations

Pros:
​Excellent Benefits: Access to PEIA is a major advantage.
​Financial Perks: Strong 401k matching and profit-sharing programs.

Cons:
​Decline in Culture: This was once a great place to work, but recent layoffs and growing office politics/cliques have changed the environment for the worse.

​Lack of Accountability: Upper management consistently ignores unethical conduct from supervisors. There is a total lack of professional standards for those in power.

​Inconsistent Safety & Policy: Employee safety concerns are now downplayed. Policies are enforced by the "letter" rather than the spirit, and usually only when it's convenient for management.

Advice to Leadership:
Hold management to a professional standard, ensure policies are enforced fairly for everyone and start looking at changing the culture of the workplace for the better.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits are really good and they include medical, dental and vision

Don't want to answer based on my experience, because I don't want to down the company as a whole but certain people could back their coworkers more 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Depending on the department and supervisor the environment could be really great, but not everyone is a leader and doesn't give care to certain situations 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very stressful at times but you can deal with any situation with the right people in charge

I loved working there n helping people. I would learn so much about some of the guys while we were driving to the doctor or just sitting waiting for their medicine. I’d share my story in hopes that they’d see that you can make it out of what seems like a hopeless situation at the time for most. I was a part in making them feel happy everyday with cooking for them and random conversations and walks.. yea I absolutely loved my job.

The people that i become close to to but they all left for better opportunities 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper staff was hard to deal with and there wasn’t ever any support from higher ups

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not good constant friction and back biting and back stabbing.  The other patients were awesome to work with

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Checking patients in and out answering phones transferring calls all office duties

My supervisor was not familiar with any of the company's policies on leave, reimbursement, benefits, or training requirements. The environment was very laid back to the point that no real work was actually done, but there were tons of meetings to discuss what work was needed to be done. The employees are very clique-ish in that if you didn't fit in with their "tribe" then you were ostracized. Not a friendly work environment with no real work being done. Benefits are good but that wasn't enough to keep me at this job.

This company was great 15yrs ago to work for but the belief systems changed over the years and management expected you to adjust your views as well.   

They would never stand up for an employee when needed but expected loyalty to them always.  Taskes and job descriptions would grow with no more pay or even a thank you on a great job.   

You would only get negative feedback on things you did wrong and supervisors were spainless drones that only cared to CYA themselves.
