I became a nurse at the age of 50 and quickly learned the 'traditional' nursing jobs (i.e. hospital and nursing home) were NOT for me.  I did Home Health and really liked it....but the hours were very inconsistent (especially with the Covid-19 pandemic).  Seeking a 'regular' or '8 to 5' job, I applied and was hired by Family Allergy and Asthma, starting back in June of 2020 as a Shot Room Nurse at the very-busy New Albany, IN location.  The problem with the 'setup' is they don't have any actual management onsite at this (or any) office to 'manage' people.  So basically, people just 'narc' to the management on the actions (or inactions) of the fellow staff.  Me, I was actually too busy actually working to bother 'tattling' on other people.  I digress...  This office staff consists of three Shot Room Nurses, a Front Desk person, and two to three Clinic Room Nurses (if a doctor is in the office that day). Well here's what sunk me....  I am an Honorably-Discharged US Army Veteran and a 52 year-old man who does not take any 'guff' from people and tries to respect others...IF they in turn respect me.  So I made the mistake of being defensive at times when called out by other staff (not management....remember....there is no 'management' on site) on mistakes I made during my time there, but was counseled on this and did my best to just be nice and thank staff for 'counseling' me if I made a mistake.  I should also mention I was the only male employee (besides the two male doctors who rotated in and out of this location) at this site.  But most of the nurses with whom I worked did not like me and acted in a manner that indicated as such....for no apparent reason at all.  Don't get me wrong....there were a handful of other nurses with whom I enjoyed working.  But the 'fix was in' against me, I guess, despite me not causing any friction with patients whatsoever.  On election day (11/3/20), the 'Manager' and her 'Assistant Manager' stopped by the office around 4:30 PM and asked to speak with me in private.  So they terminated me during this meeting, saying there were many staff who did not want to work with me (?!?!)  So let me get this straight.  I have never used any profanity in the office, nor have I ever inappropriately touched or threatened anyone in the office, but was being FIRED/TERMINATED because several of these 'unnamed' nurses were holding the Manager 'hostage' by saying they would not want to 'float' and work at my office, citing me as the principal reason.  So I was fired based on DIRECT HEARSAY.....which is not allowable in any court of law....but is allowed at this company.....which does not have any video cameras to monitor employees or happenings in the office, either.  So there ya' go.  If you don't 'fit in' with certain people at the office where you work....you will sooner or later be terminated.  I am not a 'sheep' and am a hard worker who cares about his patients and doing a quality job as a nurse.  Besides, this place only pays $22/hour, which is pretty much an insult for someone who has earned their Registered Nurse license. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The role provided experience in the healthcare field, allowing me to gain knowledge related to allergy and asthma services while strengthening my skills in a professional setting.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working at the company was the lack of supportive leadership. Feedback was often focused on mistakes rather than growth, and there was little recognition for good work. Favoritism and inconsistent support made it difficult to feel valued or set up for success.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Leadership at the management level contributed to a toxic work environment. My direct manager often engaged in gossip about team members, showed clear favoritism, and provided little support or constructive feedback. Rather than fostering a positive and productive workplace, the focus was on criticism rather than growth. This created an unhealthy culture where employees did not feel valued or set up for success.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day involved reviewing and processing accounts with minimal positive feedback from leadership. Expectations were often unclear, and support was inconsistent, which made it difficult to feel confident in the work. Communication within the team and across departments could have been better, which sometimes led to unnecessary stress or confusion.

I have been with Family Allergy & Asthma for 10+ years.  I started as a Clinic Nurse, but I have advanced over my years with the practice.  I love what I do and the people I work with.  The Providers at this practice really care about their patient's and giving them the best care possible.  We have really grown over the years, but it somehow still has that "family" feel.  The patient's feel it as well.  I knew nothing about allergies or asthma when I started here, but now, I can educate a patient on the ins and outs of both and how they relate.  Some may say that the traveling to different offices every day is the hardest part of the job.  That is one of my best parts of the job.  You're in a different office with different people and it doesn't get boring.  The Practice will have functions for their employees (and families) outside of work several times a year. The Management team consist of many long term employees.  I feel that makes for a good Manager since they came up through the departments.  They know what it is like to work in the shot room, clinic or front office.  All a person can really ask for in their job is to have more good days than bad days, and I can say that I definitely have more good days at Family Allergy & Asthma.

The positive parts of this job was the work hours, normal business hours 8-5 most days, actually getting to take a lunch which can be a "privilege" in nursing.
The negatives...simply based on frequency of posting there is a LOT of turn over & it's not hard to see why. In orientation you are handed a binder and a laptop and expected to be able to take off even when they are fully aware you are entering an area of nursing that you have not had any experience in.  Providing just a small amount of guidance regarding what to focus studying on (ON YOUR OWN TIME) in the training binder for each week would have been extremely helpful, Clearly much of the training binder is pulled from power point presentations which one can only assume has been presented in person at some point in time. Perhaps that should be done once again since it would allow for questions to answered in real time vs hours later and could be tied into training about documentation in IMS.  


Training is very little just like the pay. One day of training and then you're off on your own but you will be criticized if you dont meet quotas. People act like little kids. Smile in your face and talk behind your back in their cliques. If you're not part of a clique or a management favorite you're not going to get very far.  There is no healthy work/home life balance. And as another associate stated this not the place for parents or anyone taking care of parents.PTO is based on accrual and you will never accrue enough for vacation unless you dont miss work for 5 months.So make sure you dont get sick, your kids,etc or you dont have to leave work for any reason!! They are snatching your PTO! Even if you get COVID..Every bit will be gone..theres your vacation. Forgot to add insurance is high too and they have a very high turnover rate. I wonder why.But...You do get free lunch at times and an hour lunch break so theres that...

This company has undergone a complete leadership overhaul. The original founders created a family-like atmosphere, but that sense of connection is completely gone. There’s no resemblance to what Sublett and Pollard built. The new leadership doesn’t communicate well and often uses job security as leverage. Those beneath the CEO and COO simply follow orders to avoid being the next person called into a meeting and let go. Salaries are low, and they won’t offer competitive pay. Work-life balance has disappeared under the new management, with constant demands to do more with less. The benefits are expensive and feel more like catastrophic coverage. The culture is bleak, and morale is low. They claim to have an open-door policy, but addressing concerns usually leads to penalties. On the bright side, the clinic staff and patients are wonderful! 

I have been with FAA for 18 years now on the clinic floor and now in an office setting working with patients doing injectable biologics. I love having a stable job, a great team lead and manager that I can talk to about anything. I enjoy helping patients feel better, working through insurance issues for PA's and seeing patient's be successful with medications. The doctors are very helpful and strive to work as a team for a patient's overall health and care. I can't imagine doing anything else! I love being apart of the Family!

Management is tries to enforce masks throughout the office, but none of the managers wear their masks themselves. Walk in/out of the building without them on. Have meetings in their office without them on. They don’t care- just want patients to see that people are “wearing them”. 
Office culture is extremely relatable to high school where there is constant gossip and arguing. Management shows favoritism in every single way possible. If getting a covid test and waiting for results, you have to come into the office until you find out if it is positive. 
Management seems like they have no idea what is actually going on in the office outside of their personal office. Constantly hiring and moving people around with barely enough room.

I took this position thinking the company had a great culture. I wish I would’ve done my research. Highly unprofessional and promote people without experience just because if that person was to leave the senior accountant would’ve followed. Unfair and unjust. The leadership is very unprofessional and you cannot share things without them being shared with others. The work culture was very isolated (people in cliques)  very juvenile in my opinion. I have never worked in such an unorganized, unprofessional, company. High turnover for a reason. The people that have long tenure have no other opportunities and  are grandfathered in. I wouldn’t waste my time applying for the position because you’ll be applying for another one soon (due to the culture being so toxic). They do not value good workers or good people.

The health insurance is less than desirable, but once you meet your deductible you're covered 100%. Dental insurance is typical 80/20, no vision insurance is offered. Pay is definitely competitive for our area. Working hours are typical office hours, unless you work in a shot room that offers late night hours and some Saturdays (automatic overtime). There's a typical office feeling throughout, some personality clashes and differences of opinion. As a growing company, there's always advancement opportunities, but many candidates. It may take awhile to get to where you want to go. You may feel lost in the shuffle because the growth is happening so quickly. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons.
