A typical day at work was always fast paced, which I loved.  Over the 15 years I was at family practice I trained / did a variety of jobs, front and back office, so my days were different.  
If I was back office I did takeback which involved doing vitals, rooming patients, injections, ekgs, pfts, ear lavages, vision screening, hearing screenings, phlebotomy, setting up rooms for exams of different types as well as assisting the providers with those exams.  
If I was front office I would check patient's in, enter new insurances into the computer, enter new patient information into the computer.  I would also check patients out, schedule upcoming appointments, schedule specialty appointments, ect.
I was also responsible for handling new patient records that came into the office, scanning and triaging test results, handling consult notes, handling no shows, ect.
Over the years of working at family practice I learned so many things that I was not taught in school that I really can't put it all in writing.
I think the hardest part of my job was seeing all of the terminally ill people and not being able to do anything other than comfort them and be there for them to talk to.
The most enjoyable part of my job was the relationship I made with the patient's and my co-workers over the years and the satisfaction I got daily of being able to make people feel better.

I was hired in under the knowledge that I had just been in the hospital (was still recovering from a week in the ICU) . I litterally went for my interview 2 days after being discharged from the hospital and they were very aware of my situation and still chose to hire me in. Upon hiring me they proceeded to criticize everything such as me “not being fast enough” and again, I was still learning their process at that office and also recovering from the hospital. They did not give me a lot of patience when things were not immediately going the way they wanted. I am a very dedicated and professional worker as my work history proves. They just did not want to give me the time to heal and recover while learning. It is a very busy office and the doctors are all very demanding. It takes a while to learn everything. Everyone that works there is not a fan of the management for this reason. There is also a lot of favoritism (certain people can talk and slack off , nothing is said to them) I believe this is why they are not able to keep employees for a long period of time (always hiring)

My typical day at work for FPC. There were 4 providers there so you were busy. I worked in the front office and I did train in the rear part of the office. FPC was a very fast paced office and I learned how to keep up and do the things required of me. My co-workers at FPC, the front office, everyone got along fine. they would be there if someone needed a hand. The staff in the back, It was divided by the provider. the staff in the back work more independently. learning how to work in the lab. I love working in the lab and it was really busy in the morning, I had to learn how to keep up with blood drawing in a very busy lab. Most enjoyable part of my job was the patients and meeting new people and be able to help someone who was struggling with issues involving their health. No I didn't wish ill health to anyone, but it was amazing how every truly cared about the patient.

I enjoyed working at the Family Practice Center! My co workers were like my second family and were very laid back! It was a very fast paced office and very busy but I enjoyed that environment. I learned a lot here when it came to lab orders and specifications. I hardest part of the job was working in the lab because of all the different tests performed and the labs we used for processing. On a typical day at work, I would start with taking patients back and rooming them, taking their vitals, and documenting why they were being seen. I also would give injections/vaccinations on a daily basis. I would also work in the lab from 6:30am -8:00am drawing blood and collecting other specimens from patients. The most enjoyable part of my job was being able to work very hard but have fun and connect with my patients and co workers in a very positive and meaningful way.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Taking care of patients, which is always my priority.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Coworkers are not helpful.....no team spirit and they all gossip and harassing newcomers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pleasant and comfortable work environment but the culture of teamwork, cooperation and kindness is not encouraged.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rooming patients, taking vitals, assessing currently issue, assisting with procedures and treatments, facilitating referrals, authorizing and initiating prescription refills, triage.

Run the list and pull the charts that will be needed for the afternoon patients. File loose reports in their charts. Pull mesages off the refill line. Sort the mail for my suite. Picked up and fled back charts from the previous day.I got along well with management. The hardest part of my job was keeping my tasks current when a co-worker was absent .Another Hard part of my job was when a co-worker would leave and the codes on the door had to be changed. Most enjoyable part of my job was that I was finally doing the job that I had lread about while in school.

This is good company to work for. I think it’s better than a large health system. You don’t feel like a number. My only complaint is the sick policy. When you’re hired, you receive a certain number of sick and a certain number of vacation days. You can only use the sick days if you first use 16 hours of vacation each time you’re sick. That means you have to be sick at least three days to even use your sick days that you’re entitled to. If you run out of vacation, but still have many hours of sick time available, you can’t use the sick time your entitled to at all because you can’t use the required 16 hours of vacation first. It feels like you are punished for being sick.  

I enjoy working here and working along side providers assisting them in their daily needs to promote the best health possible to patients. I like to triage and review charts and see the whole aspect. A typical day is rooming patients and then basing the rest of my duties on the type of illness/appt that the patient is being seen for. I have learned many new skills here that I didn't get to learn at the nursing home. All of my coworkers are always willing to give a helping hand and we all work really well together as a team. The hardest part of my job is working short handed. Every part of my job is enjoyable to me, I love being a nurse and I am studying for my RN.

I honestly hated it . The pay was okay but the doctor who owned the practice caused high turn over. The front office was unorganized and had too much responsibilities for one person. Each front office personnel has to answer the phone (500+ calls a day), check in/check out pts, send faxs, schedule appts, collect payments, figure out insurance info, send referall  request, fax que, scan all pt information as they check out into their chart also while answering phones . If you don’t answer phone even when you are with a pt you will be reprimanded. They definitely needed to hire more staff . Too much for one person 

I transcribed doctors' dictation 8 hours per day.  I learned a lot about medical care and medical "language."  Management was very good in my immediate supervisor.  Overall management of the clinic was excellent.  I had a difficult co-worker, but we were able to get along and do our jobs.  The hardest part of my job was in my adjusting to the move to Waco.  The most enjoyable part of my job was in learning new words, information, etc.  I liked knowing that I was helping to provide quality care for our patients.
