I truly hope new employees, or prospects, will look through these reviews before considering applying or accepting a job here. If you will be working in direct patient care- please note the reviews that are posted by those who are working the 'front lines' versus the reviews made by those working in an office in Nashville (or at home), or in a management level. This company is probably a great gig for those who work at the higher level or do not have to interact within individual clinics. Those that work within the four walls keeping this company afloat (e.g. Providers, RNs, LPNs, MAs, XR techs, etc.) are screaming for help, and have been. This company does NOT value appropriate patient care, despite their 'Mission' that they have proudly posted in every clinic. IF they did, each clinic would be fully staffed and not have the bare minimum working. How is it appropriate to have an entire MEDICAL CLINIC with three total people clocked in? Not to mention one provider in the busy months seeing 40+ patients a day. If this company truly cared about 'patient's health' they would have made a tremendous reform by now. Unfortunately, the management at Fast Pace were able to see what we were able to accomplish during the pandemic (short-staffed, limited supplies, etc.) because we all stepped up to the plate and wanted to help our communities during a difficult, scary time for all. It is ironic that 5 years later, they still expect us to practice this way. Regional Directors are constantly enforcing new policies and procedures to our plates, while they sit at home on their laptop, likely making 2-3x more than Providers doing the hard job within the clinics. If you do not meet certain metrics- you will be threatened and called out on how terrible you are performing. I have not once in my 5 years of employment received a 'thank you', aside from the forced, annual 'Employee Appreciation Video' shared each year for Employee Appreciation Week by the CEO, probably from his vacation home. They have incorporated Primary Care into our visits, meaning that patients now view us as a PCP office and can treat conditions that have been ongoing for years. Yes, we may have the knowledge to do so, but we do not have the appropriate amount of time nor resources to do this in the current set up of walk-ins and online appointments every 8 minutes. Not to mention at times we serve as an ER for some. Try seeing a patient that needs to be stabilized- with EMS on the way, while the next patient has 5+ complaints, and 12 more in the lobby when you have not even had the chance to eat or urinate that shift. All who are mad over the wait because we do not have the staff needed to promptly treat patients. If you are a patient reading this- just know that they have mentioned over and over again how much additional money this company makes by handing out PHQ and GAD forms to every individual 12+ a long with follow-up visits. Yes, it is good patient care, but that is hard to believe it is the sole reason for adopting these procedures once they start taking about $, constantly. Not to mention how many infuriated patients I have witnessed come into the clinic with a large sum of money pulled from their credit card without warning, because they were forced to 'leave it on file' and promised that they would be notified before any money is withdrawn. It's disappointing when your Supervising MD is even baffled over the current set-up. This is my input, and would never encourage any colleague or friend to apply to Fast Pace. Furthermore, I tell my friends and family to seek healthcare at a different facility altogether.

If you're considering a job here and you value yourself as a professional run honey and I mean FAR.

1. Management is an absolute joke and an embarrassment to healthcare. Regional Directors, Clinical Directors, and Clinical Coordinators lack empathy, tact, and the ability to effectively lead in their roles (which they only got by favoritism and not concrete qualification material for their job description). 

2. The company runs based off a buddy system. If you're not in you're OUT. New and long-term employees are often singled out and bullied out of their clinics or their position entirely, but if you speak up for something that is not right you better pack your bags because there is no room for "negativity" here, but wait management what you meant to say there was HONESTY. 

3. The clinics are often ran on "bare bone" staffing. Front office specialists, nursing, and x-ray technicians perform the most work for the least pay, least amount of respect, and least amount of appreciation. 

4. We all know meal times in healthcare are few and far in between, however, if you actually don't get one it is still deducted from your paycheck daily and it is UNACCEPTABLE to put in a request to get it back as management (the ones with 6 figure salaries, company cars, and company credit cards) believe you have sufficient opportunities to do so between 60-100 patients daily. 

5. Some wonderful providers work here, but this does not even begin to make up for the other individuals that are employed here. Providers often bark orders at staff and expect staff to drop everything and perform them instantly. A provider once informed me "I think clinical staff are compensated for the kind of work they do".  Providers have changed patient phone numbers in the system to avoid texts for NPS scores, but what if a critical lab had come back and the staff couldn't get ahold of them? Some providers have rushed patients out the door at the last minute critical or not to avoid staying over (for which they don't get paid for since they are salary). Providers have stopped individuals at the door to avoid checking in patients with head injuries and sent them to the ER with no initial work up. A provider even took another employees controlled medication for which she did not have a prescription for while on the clock and providing direct patient care. 

6. The company has little to no concern for morale and does not value the happiness and retention of valuable, knowledgeable employees. Employees are provided with a sorry excuse for healthcare plans, PTO rates that aren't compensational, and seldom recognition for great performance. Raises have to be fought for and management will find any reason to write you up or to implement disciplinary action that will result in ineligibility for a raise. 

7. New employee training is by far one of the most inadequate and poorly managed areas of the company. New employee's are often thrown to the wolves before they are ready and often cannot perform their job duties as they have to ask other staff for detailed instruction. Few staff are willing to take time to help these misguided employees and this often leads to a higher turnover rate for this company. 

This company is by far the absolute worst company I have worked for in healthcare.

When I started at Fast Pace it was wonderful! Great clinic, peers, and management. After being there about 1 year things changed drastically. We are expected to preform our jobs as if we had 5-6 employees, but we have 3 on staff each shift 98% of the time. We have 1 provider, 1 nurse, and 1 front desk. We have ancillary 3 days a week in clinic and their patients are double the admission process as a regular clinic patient. Ancillary patients are scheduled to see patients every 15-30 minutes and sometimes have multiple patients in one time slot. We could admit 10-15+ of ancillary patients on top of the regular clinic patients who on average in sick season Is 45-50+! On line patients can schedule appointments every 6 mins. We can not get patients admitted in that time frame let alone seen by the provider. All of these unrealistic expectations from business men with no clinics/medical experience. Patients get incredibly angry when they have a time saved on line, but are still waiting to be seen 2 hours later. Front desk gets berated all day by not only angry patients, but ancillary staff because front desk is not admitting their patients fast enough. Front desk is expected to make sure ancillary gets admitted to be seen right on time while there are 10 regular clinic patients to be admitted waiting for over 1.5 hours. They add more forms and work while cutting quarterly bonus by $125. When patients take surveys they are sent, they return with very low scores due to wait times. The clinic staff is held responsible for those low numbers when it’s management causing these issues; clinic employees simply cannot admit a patient and back to be seen every 6 minutes. And, this is just patient care, we have many other job duties outside of patient care. One of those duties is cleaning the clinic due to not being able to keep regular cleaners. Really, all that would need to happen to reduce patient unhappiness and less stress on staff is to change patient appointment time slots to every 12 min instead of every 6 min. We are required to take a 30 min break in our 12.5 hour shift, but this is impossible. We can barely stop long enough to go get our food eat it at our desks in between seeing patients. Our clinic employees are very unhappy, stressed, & disappointed in what has become of the company since January. Unfortunately, an amazing group works in that clinic and all of the chaos, which it is, resulting in errors made through admission process and rushed patient care. This work environment is driving excellent employees away; employees that train new employees to Fas Pace. Our complaints and concerns have fallen on deaf ears. I’m hoping corporate turns this around or they will be losing many great staff members.  My heart hurts for feeling this way because I was prepared to be here for many years to come, but under the above conditions, I don’t believe that will be possible. 

I have met the regional director twice. She harps on a dress code, but calls mandatory meetings and shows up in mini skirts and open-toed shoes. She stands in the nurse's area and talks about her Jamaican cruise and curses like a sailor - What a reputation I want to emulate. The clinic gets staffed with two NP's - so you are in trouble if one of you gets sick, or needs help. You are just going to be hung out to dry, literally. No one is coming to help you. One person in the clinic can have computer access at home, but the other cannot. There are no lunch breaks for anyone. If the nurses do not get a break, they are encouraged to "write it in the book," but when they do, they are bullied into taking it off or harassed by wanting to know why they didn't call for help. When they call for help the next time as instructed, no one answers the phone, again - another problem. You are expected to do sutures, shave biopsies, read x-rays, joint injections, toenail removal, and PAP tests without the first class to train you.
You must be certified for your DOT in the first 60 days, but you have to do it on your own time and pay for the exam. This company wants you to incorporate primary care into urgent care -- How can you possibly meet all of the incentive measures for a primary care patient in 5-15 minutes? You CANNOT. Patients, nursing, and practitioners are tired and fed up with this treatment. We are in a paradigmatic shift from volume-based care to value-based care, but Fast Pace is only focused on the volume of the patient's seen per day and opening another clinic. Oh, also be prepared to clean the office too. The staff has to clean because they do not hire anyone to clean the office properly. 
You must also provide your tools to help you with dosage calculations, such as Epocrates. You will not be reimbursed for this either. If you do not have ACLS, PALS - you have to pay for the classes on your own. You'll be seeing 30-60 patients/day by yourself, you have to respond to virtual encounters, and call labs within your shift. If you have PTO, you have to request time off at least 90 days in advance. Regional directors are supposed to approve or deny your request within the pay period of you requesting it. But, this practice is not followed either. You often do not get approval for months, and if you are approved, they can take it away from you. 
THIS IS A COMPANY THAT BULLIES THEIR STAFF.

I currently work for First Care and absolutely love this company. I have never worked for a company where all of the employees are so helpful and caring. Everyone at our clinic is friendly and it really feels like a big family. It's important in a work place to feel apart of the team, and working for this company you will. I can promise you that. In most working places people seem to be intimidated by management, corporate, presidents, and CEO's of their company. At First Care all of the "higher ups" are all very friendly and welcoming. They make you enjoy what you do and are very good about checking on how things are going at the clinics. Corporate makes surprise visits to check and see if you as an individual are doing okay and to answer any questions you have. We have the BEST CEO, and I'm not saying that to suck up! First Care hires the best of the best and I feel honored to work for them. I couldn't ask for a better place to be employed. If you are NOT bubbly, outgoing, energetic, upbeat, love the medical field, passionate about helping others, and work well with a team then First Care is NOT the place for you. When you wake up and go to work, you should feel excited; after all you do spend the majority of your time there. I can honestly say that I wake up every morning ready and excited for work (even though I'm not a morning person)  Lol   :)   

Some advice for you readers... 
If you do not like where you are, as far as your career goes, and don't feel pleased about where you are... change it! Life is too short to be somewhere that you hate going to everyday.

I was so excited to work here when I received my job offer. I had always heard great things about Fast Pace, and love the hours (3 12s one week, 4 shorter shifts the next). I have worked in an urgent care before, and already knew a lot of the   things you need to know how to do when working in a similar setting. At first, everything was manageable, and we had appropriate staffing, and kept being promised more staff after our clinic started seeing higher numbers of patients (I started at a brand new clinic). I was happy for about a year, then the company slowly started adding more and more onto us, and the online appointments started getting closer and closer together. They started to open tons of new clinics vlose together, so staff who were trained would be pulled there. We also never got more staff. I feel like this company saw that, during the pandemic, they could push people to work longer and harder than ever before, so they just kept trying to do that as much as possible, even after the pandemic ended. Appts online are now every 6 minutes, and that is usually with 2 to 3 staff members. How can you check someone in, triage them, properly evaluate them, and send them on their way in 6 minutes??? We are also expected to take every single walk in that comes through the door, even if it is right before closing time. ESPECIALLY then, because they have started to put a sign on the door with a number to call if a patient gets upset when they aren't seen 1 minute before 8pm. Even if we have all been beaten down all day, screamed at for the wait, gone without lunch, and treated like complete garbage by this company. And the best part is, is that the COs of the company used to work in Physical Therapy, so they don't even know what it's like to work at an urgent care. If you don't understand how completely insane and unpredictable urgent cares can be, you Have ZERO business owning more than 250 clinics. Seriously, anyone that thinks 6 minutes apart is appropriate for one provider, and sometimes just one clinical staff, in an urgent care, should have their head checked. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR. Listen to your employees. I have voiced my concerns, and so have my co workers. I turned in my notice recently, and couldn't be happier to get out of this mad house. I am sure plenty of others will follow me.

When I first began working at Fast Pace, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The volume was manageable and much positivity within the staff/clinics. However, over the last year we are constantly having more and more tasks added to our plate with less time to complete them. For instance, we are now screening every single patient for mental health disorders (anxiety/depression) along with addressing multiple chronic conditions. Now, do not get me wrong, this is great holistic healthcare; HOWEVER, we are an urgent care. This company allows patients to sign up for “appointments/reservations” EVERY 6 MINUTES. If seeing a single patient in 15 minutes isn’t hard enough, try having them lined out the door because our company sets us up for failure starting at 8am. It is absolutely impossible, and unsafe, to go at such a quick speed that quality of care is impacted. The fact that the CEO/COO (physical therapists) believe this is manageable is insane, and would absolutely love for them to work 13 hours shifts in the clinic. I have “6 minutes” to see a patient, address their multiple complaints, along with address their high scores on the Anxiety/Depression scales, AND address their high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking history, and BMI. Our nation is in a major healthcare crisis, and companies like Fast Pace who continue to push and push our providers and other staff to their breaking point is plain ridiculous. I will be leaving soon and am not sure that I will remain working in direct patient care, because I am so burnt out. I have begged and begged for changes to be made to allow us to have manageable shifts, but instead we are given yet again another task to accomplish. Stop treating your Urgent Care staff like trash. We see the Ancillary departments get 15-30 minute patient intervals, AND an hour lunch. While the urgent care side doesn’t even have time to go urinate during a shift, nonetheless a full lunch. Not to mention, we’re doing the same procedures as these providers (I&D, splinting, sutures, etc) but again our patients can sign up every 6 minutes PLUS walk ins, and we cannot turn people away. At the end of the day, my license is on the line working at such a speed and cannot wait to turn in my notice. 

At this point in time I would have to say this is how I feel and the mid level providers feel about Fast Pace Urgent Care.  Recently we have been dealt a severe blow aimed directly at mid level providers.  Our Directors and Regional directors have turned their backs on us and glossed it over with all smiles and positive affirmations.  We have recently been placed on Salary.  This was done to keep from paying us overtime.  Plain and simple.  You are required now to work your 37.5 weekly hours.  You do not get paid extra for working over.  Which is quite a bit.  Everything over 37.5 is free labor.  On the flip side if you work less than 37.5 hours they take it out of your vacation time.  This only works to the companies advantage.  On curious thing is that of all the exempt employees at the company only mid level providers are required to clock in and out.  This is under the guise of keeping up with production hours but no other exempt employee has to do this nor do they get penalized for working a few hours less from their vacation time.  As far as working extra shifts for extra cash you can still do this but instead of it being OT at $80 / hr it is now $50 / hr.  A $30 cut in pay for an extra shift over 37.5 hours.  But it is glossed over as you can work all the extra shifts you want now!  We really feel like they must think we are stupid?  Its very condescending and degrading.  They also tell us this is in line with other healthcare facilities but we have called 47 so far and they do not do this.  For the first time We are hearing talk of people contacting Nursing Unions and asking questions.  I am sad this is where we are because I love my work family.  I ask that HR please don't give a watered down generic response to this because we are actually hurt, angry and feel you guys are not on the same team as us.  You do not and will not stick up for us.  God help us.  I feel a NP /PA exodus is on the horizon from what I am hearing.  There are clinics all around me just closing because they cant find people to staff it.

Fast Pace started with a great goal and vision, to provide care to rural people who otherwise wouldn't have access to affordable healthcare. The problem is that once upper management got a little taste of the GREEN OPIUM, it spiraled out of control. Their goal is to open as many clinics as quickly as possible. They don't wait until they have adequate staffing, they just except their current employees to drive h ours to fill those slots on their off days. It is ridiculous. Also, they will tell you one thing and do another, especially with scheduling. If you can work yourself to the bone, because you know what you're doing and are efficient, then they will send help elsewhere, even if you're seeing double the number of patients as other clinics. Also, they don't adequately train personnel prior to putting them to work at full time positions or allowing them to pick up shifts. This was something I brought up to management, there needs to be protocols, there needs to be training standards that have to be met prior to working alone. You will go to one clinic and will receive excellent care, and then go to another clinic and see a provider that has no clue what they're doing. It's insane and very dangerous. They are also very unethical and there are a lot of office politics going on. People get promoted that have no clue how to run a business. There are also "regional directors" that are telling providers what to do that don't know the first thing about practicing medicine. Many clinics also have new grads working there as providers that are flying by the seat of their pants. MY ADVICE: IF you are absolutely desperate for a job and don't have any other options, work here for a little experience. Otherwise, RUN!!!!!! Run far, far away!!!!!! And if you DO work here, especially as a provider, ask for top dollar! Trust me, you will make them bank!!!!!

Upper management is horrible. They cut staff and pay during Covid. We just found out they applied for and received the small business relief bailout for Covid yet cut our pay by 10% and furloughed almost everyone from clinics leaving 2 employees to cover the clinic. They did make a lame video from the comfort of their home while we were being exposed daily to Covid. Not to mention that we had to get our own PPE because they didn’t provide us with anything but 1 and yes I will repeat 1 N95 mask. They automatically deducted lunch from you most of the time I never even got a lunch. You could fill out a no lunch form and depending you may or may not get it taken out. PTO could only be used if you found your own coverage and/or if the regional director approved it. You could have put PTO in 3 months in advance but she would deny it, so you basically got to use it when she wanted you to. She actually called this clinic her problem clinic. We had a great group at this clinic that basically never really complained to her about anything. She hardly ever came to our clinic so for her to say that is hilarious. She tried to cause problems within the clinic and constantly talked down to the staff. You can’t constantly be condescending to the staff and expect them to respect you or think that you have their best interest in mind, because she doesn’t. She was always full of excuses when asked questions or she tried to make you feel stupid for asking. In my opinion they should let her go and really rethink who they put in those management positions. She is the reason that employees have left even though she refuses to acknowledge that she is the problem, it’s not the clinic it is her. The clinic as a whole is great it’s just the management or lack there of that needs to change. Put someone in charge that actually cares about the clinic and staff instead of her paycheck or sucking up to the CEO.
