What a waste of my life. I started working here in a different department than the department I was in when I left. So I will talk briefly about both because there is a stark contrast although neither of them are good. 

The Fastaff side (travel nursing side) was my first role. I was told I was put in an entry level role but would advance to the job I actually wanted in 6 months so I took it. I will grant this to my manager, he didn’t know the company was going down the tubes at the time he made me that promise. But still, never addressed the issue again until I brought it up multiple times. 

It was right at my 6-month mark when “merit” raises came about. I told my manager I felt as if I deserved a better raise than the typical 3-4%, and he agreed with me but said I needed to prove it in the evaluation so that he could “push it up to higher management” who ultimately made the decision. I thought that was fair. So I prepared. I had emails from our vendors saying they couldn’t believe how much I’ve helped them and things have never run so smoothly before I got there. I had percentages to back my claims and completed projects to present. When I got to the evaluation, he told me they’re offering me a 4% raise and I would see it on my next check. It came out to about 36 cents. I could not believe he told me to prepare when they went behind my back and made the decision before I was even technically evaluated. 

Soon after that unprofessional incident, there was an opening in the sister company, US Nursing (strike recruiting side) and I asked my manager if I was going to get promoted or not. He said the business wasn’t doing well enough to justify moving me up (come to find out, on top of that, he just wanted me to stay in my current role because I did it so well and no one else wanted to do it because it was a really boring and annoying job but didn’t want to pay me more to stay). So I applied for the position in the sister company and got it. I moved over. What a terrible, terrible, mistake that was. 

Although I will admit I was making a lot more money on the US Nursing side, it wasn’t worth it. I did receive about a $3 raise when I moved over, but most of the money came from working insane overtime hours. I worked a minimum of 6 days a week and 50 hours. When we had strikes going on it was much more than this. And yet, even after working a 12 hour shift, when you got up to leave the manager would jab you by saying things like “wow you’re leaving already?” Or something of the sort. It was insanity. 

They never appreciated anything you did for them and would walk all over you. If your dog had to go to the vet? Too bad. Get to work. Is your landlord coming over to fix your AC? Sorry, you can’t work from home even tho everything you need is on your laptop so you’re completely able to work from home for ONE DAY. 

My friend’s grandpa died so he had to go back to his home state and literally on the SECOND DAY he was gone, the manager CALLED HIM AND ASKED HIM WHEN HE WAS COMING BACK. I can’t make this stuff up. Seriously they are the worst. 

They hired a bunch of temps because we were so slammed, let them work a couple weeks, and then one day sent two separate emails (one to us, one to the temps) and had separate meetings. At the end of our meeting, the manager told us they “let all the temps go” and they wouldn’t be in our area when we walked back. So we couldn’t even say goodbye to people who worked their butts off with us the past however long. Soon after that they did many rounds of layoffs. The company had 225 people when I started and it’s down to a little over 100 in less than 4 months apart. And the only people left are the brown nosers. 

They’re shady. They are the most manipulative people I’ve ever encountered. The unprofessionalism spews out  of them at every second of the day. For example, the department head will make you pray  when you’re low on nurses Ha. Ha. 

There are definitely some koolaid sippers there who might write great reviews but believe me they’re full of it. The only reason why they’re still there is because they play the game. If you’re that type of person, you might do okay. It’s very cut-throat and people are constantly throwing each other under the bus to try and stay afloat because they’re letting everyone go all the time. 

Good luck to you if you ever give this company a chance.

I just returned from NYC for COVID relief via Aequor Healthcare (who I LOVED), thus travel nursing is not a new concept for me.  I accepted a quick fill, 4 week travel assignment with Fastaff scheduled to begin in 5 days.  I questioned the agent regarding compliance completing all of their required tasks in time, and she assured me it could be done.  I did my part and completed all needed documents/tests the following day, including urine drug screen.  I should also add this was on a Friday and I urged the agency to push the start date back because I was not confident they would complete my file over the weekend, however once again was assured it could be accomplished.  I emailed credentialing Saturday asking if everything was good to go, and if not what needed to be done, with no response.  With the green light from my agent, Monday I begin the 10 hour drive to the assignment location in preparation to start Wednesday.  Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:00PM I receive a text message, "Hi, my name is A___, what can I do to get you 100% credentialed ASAP?".  I immediately text back, "I'm driving.  Can you please call?  I'm scheduled to work  in less than 24 hours.  Tell me what YOU need to do to complete my file!".  This went back and forth for approximately 3 hours with multiple requests for a phone call, however A____ refused to do so and would only communicate via text message...completely unprofessional!  When I finally arrive to my destination and able to properly focus on the task, I opened the 365 website used by credentialing to find my ENTIRE on boarding file with all required documents uploaded (this was VERY time consuming), was cancelled! There was a new request by Fastaff to complete it again!  I told A___ with credentialing I am not completing it again, you have my documents and it is your department's responsibility to correct this mistake, not mine, after driving 10 hours and scheduled to start work the following morning!  To make matters worse, A____ later sends a text (because she is incapable at this point of calling), asking when I plan to collect the urine drug screen.  As previously mentioned, this was done four days ago!  The final straw was when the agent called me at approximately 8:00PM to notify me the start date in the morning had been pushed back due to a "hospital issue".  At this point I declined the contract and drove 10 hours to return home.  

Of note, I have no issues with the agent, she was wonderful.  My qualms are with the credentialing department and on boarding process.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Fastaff is now misleading potential travelers with contracts and then switching up once they sign up.  Read the class action suits brought against them before considering.  They haven't changed 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They're not very trustworthy .  Fastaff consistently changes their stories about their facilities needs in order to put more money in their pockets.  Nice your away from home on an assignment you're in a position to stay longer until you can afford to go back home.  I've been with this company for 10+ years and never encountered this kind of behavior from other previous recruiters or payroll staff

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arguing with the staff about what you were told you'd receive and then what you actually received.  Previous recruiters were always transparent.  The ones they have now...suspect

I had been a full time staff nurse for 8 years. I loved my job. It had a lot of convenience for me, but I wanted to do more. Deciding to make a change was hard and I questioned if travel nursing would be for me. If you believe in prayer, prayer is what I done. Traveling with Fastaff has been the BEST decision I made. I have been with Fastaff my two years as a travel nurse. It has been so rewarding. I have only used Fastaff and they are the BEST in my opinion and in my experience as a traveling nurse. A typical day at work is rewarding because patients and staff see your compassion, professionalism and your commitment as a healthcare member. There are always teachable moments which is important. The most enjoyable part of the job is team work, the ability to communicate with others, and know you are making a difference.

On arrival, my room was ready.  All I had to do was to sign in and unpack my car.

I followed the plan that Fastaff provided to me.  I arrived the first morning and was greeted by hospital staff that were so pleased that we were there.  For the most part, the ER staff were kind and friendly. The hardest part of the job was orienting myself to the hospital.  It was huge!  Each night I would tell myself, "don't get lost!"   I really enjoy meeting people from all different areas of our nation.  I also enjoy learning new methods of giving care.  One hospital has equipment (that was new to me) that was easily slid under a patient and made transferring that patient to a different bed smooth and easy!  The best part of the job is the opportunity to see new places and make new friends that would not have been possible if I were working full time somewhere stationary.

This Agency runs their tax structure differently. You will pay more in taxes, but you cannot beat the peace of mind you get when traveling. 

Housing is provided on top of the quoted rate. This company doesn't trick you by lumping it altogether. 

This is a crisis company. They move very quickly which works well for my needs. If you enjoy the average, slow paced agency, you may find this stressful. You must be organized during credentialing. 

Con: **They did just get a new competency company to manage their testing that is offensively bad. I imagine they tried to save money here so they contracted with the payless shoe store of competency testing. 


The Good: Fastaff is a great company with year round needs if you are flexible. Pay and benefits are top rated compared to most other companies I have worked with. Recruiters and staff readily available to assist you with any questions or concerns. If you have many years of experience, can hit the floor running, and confident in your skills to work independently, this may be a good fit. Oh, and be ready to hop in the car or on a plane within 3 days of a phone call...yes, you must be ready to work.
The Bad: Travel Nursing is not for the faint of heart. Assignments can be very difficult at times as Travel Nurses are hired to assist with staffing shortages most of the time due to internal facility politics which often times leads to a major culture issue.

Other travel Companies give you a daily food stipend, this does not. For short assignments It’s best to try and book your flight so you have a day before and after the assignment to explore, as the work schedule is very intense. You meet lots of great, fun, like-minded people :-)  On last assignment, orientation hours did not count towards the overtime for that week. On strike assignments you don’t get to pick your roommates, and orientation schedules are chosen for you so you may have only three hours sleep between induction and orientation

An excellent company to work for with many opportunities to see the USA while providing healthcare and earning top dollar in the industry. Management has been super thus far and the travel nurses that I have met and worked with are the best. I especially enjoy the flexibility and choice of assignments.

If all you care about is the money then fastaff is for you.  But as a travel nurse who has worked for multiple agencies over the past 8 years, let me tell you if you want any consideration for yourself as an employee then RUN.  Go elsewhere. At every level working for fastaff is awful.  No responses from recruiters or pay dept, no word from compliance and Credentialing.  The idea is if we offer high enough pay then we can treat you like a number.  This will be my one and only contract with them, and I am not even sure I will finish it.
