The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is plagued with laziness and entitlement from years of stagnant movement among staff. The recruiters will display the long tenures of past employees like a badge of honor while in reality this only serves as an indicator of lacking new talent and ideas.

Poor decisions are made consistently at varying levels of management. Leaders are too cautious to terminate those who produce poor work product, lack the necessary skills, or spread toxic behavior. Often top performers will depart the bank to seek other employment due to lacking opportunities and leadership's  ignorance to recognize outdated strategies and solutions. 

Applicants should beware the organization will do anything to attempt to convince you of the advancement opportunities. However, you will spend years with little movement and almost a decade before you are even considered for a leadership role; and this applies even to top performers. 

There is a large and growing problem with entitlement among staff. Many of the long tenured staff have idled through their careers only to voice concern for advancement towards the end as new professionals enter the workforce. Discrimination and other exacerbated claims are thrown around here quite loosely in order to push personal agendas. 

You MUST be well versed in bureaucracy. Don't expect leaders to act with professionalism or respect. Often you will succeed in this organization if you can fit within the above for-mentioned culture. Working here is almost the equivalent of a twilight zone.

When everyone hears that I work at FRB Dallas they are truly impressed and outside employers consider this a gold star, that’s the main benefit of working here; along with the pension, that’s where the good stops. It’s not a very inclusive place, the higher the position grade, the less diversity you’ll see. It’s truly disappointing that our Researchers are responsible for supporting economic policy and the salaries don’t match the growing DFW market. Advancement takes forever unless you are a favorite and that still takes 3-4 years for an in-range promotion unless you are a certain demographic. 

Management is very micro-managing and conditional support. 
Very poor culture - you have to be minority of a certain kind, or you don't get support.
Hours are over the top - more than 50-60 hours a week. 
The hardest part of the job is knowing who to trust. It seems the long-tenured management are in it for themselves. 
And what I have learned there is they throw a blind eye on poor performers because of who they know and the color of their skin. Leadership doesn't want to incite bad publicity or litigation. (read between the lines)

Once you're not one of the few selected ones, you will have few opportunities to advance. Skills and level of education mean nothing here. Reviews will constantly site your need for development despite your efforts. The most ridiculous thing was almost not getting a referral from your manager after tirelessly working under them. Please work harder at diversity and inclusion, remote opportunities, fairness and equity. Train managers on soft skills and sensitivity and that micromanaging is not the way to be a people leader. 

The health insurance, 401k matching, and pension benefits are unsurpassed in the industry. Salary is a good 10%-20% below the real world. Management has never managed outside of this culture so they have no idea how to manage anyone who comes in with more than 5 years experience in the outside world. Therefore, the culture suffocates innovation and anything that doesn't "look like the Fed". Politics are worth more to your career than actual knowledge and ability.

I truly enjoyed my time working here. The environment fostered both professional and personal growth, and I felt consistently supported to learn and expand my skills. Leadership encouraged initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving, which gave me the opportunity to grow beyond my role and gain valuable experience. The culture was positive, motivating, and centered around development, making it an excellent place to build a career.


Hardest part of the job is figuring out why it is necessary for us to return to office 4 days a week when you’re not in a forward facing role, and can do all of your job from home. 5 plus years of proof in doing so following the pandemic. The time wasted commuting when it could be spent working.

Work day consist of meetings, conference calls, trouble shooting and resolving application issues. Come in around 8 and leave around 5. There is no set schedule. Employees have the option of working remote some days as well. Hardest part about the job would have to be familiarizing yourself to the work application employees are in charge of.

at the time i was there - i was able to be exposed to lots of different areas of the bank and appreciated the efforts made to educate bank employees about the economic updates regionally and nationwide. i left because there were not enough opportunities for people who wanted to progress as individual contributors. but i met lots of people who tried to support me the best they could

Treasury Services is a good opportunity if you don’t like growing or moving into a better position with better pay. You start off contracting and it takes 2 yrs to get on permanent if someone doesn’t retire. You feel like you’re in prison all day, lots of rules and restrictions. Lots of nit picking and micro managing by management.
