There is a lot of double-speak. They like to say that they're flexible, fun, and have a good work-life balance, but it's all for naught. Only the workaholics advance, and you get burned for not working on your  vacation (they say *don't*, but they mean *do*). If you're not willing to work over 45 hours a week, you're not gonna make it here. Most people either get laid off for not meeting their unrealistic expectations or leave within a year. The workaholics stay and love it.

There were 4 people dropped from the department (including a director) for not being perfect within the 3/4 of a year I worked there. Their improvement plans are more like ultimatums that barely legally cover their butts. Their quotas aren't realistic (especially if you're the one cleaning up other people's messes). They call themselves a human company, but they're terribly disorganized (they hadn't even properly defined my role when I came on, so I wasn't allowed to use the skills they supposedly had hired me for for the first few months--when I tried to, I was pulled into a disciplinary meeting, and I'm not even a troublemaker!). The workload is intense (gets worse every time someone gets let go!).

You don't get adequate credit (or enough time) for the crazy amount of work you do. I was recruited and I felt like I was on the chopping block most of the time I was there. The stress was so bad I had terrible panic attacks. 

Granted, they're trying to get better, but they can't get better fast enough. Especially when they're still  letting decent people go. 

I learned a lot here, but it wasn't worth it.

Overview:
I have never worked anywhere that caused more personal anxiety and job insecurity than Filevine. I would never recommend anyone work there. The pitch they use to get you in the door is a total illusion. They talk about how awesome their culture is and show off their fun, eclectic office space. When you get in you realize everyone is miserable and morale is at rock bottom.

There are a lot of amazing people working there, but most of the people I interacted with are not happy and don't feel valued.
Management creates (and encourages) toxicity that permeates throughout the workplace leading to constant gossip and a cutthroat, every-man-for-himself culture.

The daily grind is centered around commands that come down from the top and everyone below scrambling to try to make it happen, regardless of how ridiculous they are. There is so much focus on coming out with new features to upsell everyone, but very little effort, if any, is put into improving platform stability, customer support, and employee satisfaction.

Strange and ever-changing org structure

The vacation policy, PTO and work life balance was trending downhill due to a transition in strategy. 

They did layoffs for Christmas despite making record ARR and whatever other metrics they tout.

Everything seemed to be going really well and then they surprised several departments. 

Those staying were overloaded, those going were filled with questions and forced to find new work in the slowest part of the year. 

They also didn't have a 401k match despite the CEO saying they were working on it for over 2 years. 

Management made really rash decisions that were penny wise and pound foolish. 

The CEO is a good hype man but seems to be tanking the companies prospects by his rash decisions to let key departments get outsourced in a completely botched transition to move some services to vendors. 

It seems they are propping up the valuation for VC's and to tidy the balance sheet before an IPO. Corrupt and unnecessary

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very few positives, but they do love a pizza party


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of direction, poor management structure, and unreasonable expectations. Leaders are not knowledgeable in the areas they are managing and lean on the expertise of team members. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Office is loud, crowded, and open floor plan. No quiet work areas and lack of privacy

The owners are lawyers who don't know anything about tech startups. That means they make lots of mistakes and the employees suffer for it. 

they make promises to the employees but then forget or change their minds. It is a constant struggle to keep up with whatever the owners feel like should be happening that month. 

they hired a lot of people then let a lot of really good people go.

Worked as an intake specialist. It is a good position in that you can basically set your own hours since intake specialists are needed 24/7. Due to the high turn over and the company is considered to be a startup, there are no set standards of operations.

Management lacks direction and experience in product strategy/basic GTM functions. Work culture is terrible with very limited time off due to managements attitude towards using PTO. Low attainment, reps on multiple occasions get cheated out of commission through purposefully confusing ROE policy. 

Filevine has had its up and downs (like any other start up out there) but really is a great company. The people are amazing, the culture is there and you really can grow within the company.

I had a really great experience when i was employed with filevine. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
At the beginning i was a little confused but the system then slowly got better with it

Culture is centered around short term gains and demands employees work unattainable deadlines to reach them. I dealt with severe anxiety working at Filevine and I'm glad I don't work there any more.
