The management here is severely lacking. Most upper management is based in India and the Philippines. These folks have a very poor understanding of regulatory compliance and industry standards in the US. This needs immediate addressing, considering their attempts to attain more US based clients. As start ups go, the goal was to expand as they acquired more contracts; however, there is a huge employee turnover rate due to unrealistic expectations. Almost everyone is expected to work multiple projects which causes burnout. I lost count of the number of people at all levels who quit during my time there. Many projects had backlogs due to employee abandonment . Management has poor business skills. The client for my project constantly changed things agreed upon in the contract with no pushback from management. For example, my management verified the holiday schedule prior to going live. We were to be off Christmas Eve through the day after New Year’s. The week before Christmas, management advised they would need to verify the schedule with the client, which was confusing as we retained the email in which this was done. The client demanded we work every day except the day of Christmas, despite everyone having made plans in accordance with the verified holiday schedule provided at the start of the project months prior.  There is an abundance of favoritism shown towards employees from outside of the US. One of my colleagues (living within in the US but of East Indian descent) would endlessly roll calls,  idle during work hours, or take off for ridiculous things such as to take dance classes (on top of constantly going on vacation). Management would allow this, despite the burden it created on the other employees. This colleague openly admitted to constantly speaking with management outside of work and alluded to a clear bias. This colleague was put in a supervisory role despite extremely poor work performance. This was pointed out to management with clear examples and simply brushed aside. 

I was hired as a contract worker for the benefits recertification season, and I will not return to this particular contract. This company is an offshoot of LabCorp, and you can tell that this project, in particular, is still undergoing some growing pains, having only launched in 2018 and has already undergone 2 rebrandings.  

The work isn't hard once you learn the extremely outdated systems. They still use Siebel, and if you've been in this field for a while, you know that this system is old, so old that you have to install a custom version of internet explorer (IE) for it to even launch correctly. The system is constantly freezing and crashing, making data entry a nightmare.

The training was a hot mess; they hired a massive class for six weeks of training and taught us every job instead of just focusing on our day-to-day work and then throwing us to the wolves, ill-equipped and under-trained. They also require you to be on camera for 7 hours a day during training, even though the trainers themselves aren't on camera. This wasn't told to us until after we got our equipment.   They train you from day two, despite many people not having their equipment, and didn't get their equipment in some cases until week 3.  Many people were extremely far behind. 

Again the work overall is easy, as long as you can survive the massive lack of communication between managers, sups, and trainers. It's mainly data entry and case management. If you are hired on as a contract, you won't be on the phone. 

I was hired through a staffing agency, and I was excited to be back working after some transitions with a previous job at the time. My interview and onboarding process was super easy. I started out in a big training class, which lasted for only a few weeks. Things were OK at first, but training was horrible. Everyone was all over the place with presenting the incorrect information, management never seemed to be on board with one another. Constant changes literally everyday, causing so many errors and miscommunication with cases. Lack of support from management, lack of resources. They cared too much about quantity rather than focusing on quality, because they were so behind and only needed people to just fill in the gap of their mess ups. I really took a chance on working here, although I started seeing red flags early on, but my goal was to continue building my health care resume. The turnover is through the roof! People being laid off literally every week. Will never work for this company again, work life balance is terrible and they really need to revamp their entire program department if they really want to see positive changes happen with the retention of employees. Me and 18 other people got cut from the department with literally no heads up because they claim they had a reduction of work, which I find to be bogus but it's OK. We all have lives too! Good luck to those who decide to apply here.

They're on their 4th company spilt and name change since I've been there in late 2021. In that time there have been no open position postings and no room for growth. My job description has changed probably a dozen times. From Data entry, to Mail processing, to Claims, to IB call center agent. They throw you wherever they want depending on the "business need" not your actual skill level.  Only hire temps for the busiest seasons, then once the busy season is done and their assignments end then they're gone. They do the hiring rounds of temps multiple times a year so we're constantly training new people that will only end up being here a few months. Any time you ask a question about anything operations related or about your future here with them they just beat around the bush or provide you with some politically correct, vague answer. The health benefits aren't great.  The only perk they do have is working from home. 

There are areas that are stable and performing consistently well. There are others that seem to constantly  undergo dynamic change. Lots of new initiatives but also reducing SG&A for some time now. Priorities depend on who you work with and for, and there are many priorities, so it is challenging to prioritize all of the competing priorities (this sentence is purposely written to underscore the emphasis on priorities and that by prioritizing everything it defeats the purpose of prioritizing). Fortrea employees are some of the most brilliant and caring people I’ve ever worked with in this industry. Clients are great, and the projects we are working to support their clinical development needs and the needs of patients are the reasons I come to work every day.

The opportunity for advancement is hard for internal employees 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There are a mix of groups between Silos and outsiders.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Maintain a queue task and inbound calls. Stay attentive and working from sign in to sign out. The work chat was insufficient because they preferred the leads answer questions instead of teammates.

Volatile work environment- call center jobs are being outsourced to India. Layoffs are frequent, leaving you to wonder daily if it’s your last day.  Newer, cheaper employees are hired while the best ones are let go. The rest of the team is left to pick up the pieces and learn the job of the missing team members. 
Training is minimal. If you don’t already know how to do the job, you’re probably stuck figuring it out alone. You may wait hours for a response to questions. 
Morale is low. 

Pay is okay, PTO is nice, and benefits are scaled back more and more each year. Merit increases do not keep up with inflation, and also do not make you feel valued. 

The company is going through a lot of changes and it’s struggling to find its footing. It seems like employee benefits are reminiscing year after year and lay offs have been consistent for the last three years. The plus side is that PTO is generous, in addition to 7 holidays, there is 23 days of PTO, and there is health insurance.  Upward mobility has been dismal over the last 3 years though. It’s a good job for parents in regards of flexibility, and for young people. If you are an ambitious professional, I don’t recommend. 

This company is going down the drain. The financial situation at Fortrea is bad and poor executive and c-suite management is only making things worse. Expect no raises, no career growth,  and for your job to be outsourced. Constantly having to train people hired with with no experiance and minimal English skills. Do not apply here if you want to keep joy in your life.

I have been there since they started the company and it has been horrible. It seems like they are taking the clients that no other person wants to work with. They are completely disorganized. They treat you like you are just a number. They do not care about you or your work life balance a lot of weeks. You are gone the whole week from your home so count only on the weekends but then you’re also gonna be working then writing report and trying to catch up easily your weeks can be from 50+ hours to my max of 69.
