My experience working for FreedomCare changed drastically after the major layoffs in April 2025. Prior to that point, the company had a positive culture, strong teamwork, and a work environment that felt supportive and enjoyable.
After the restructuring, however, the overall atmosphere and management approach shifted significantly. The new leadership introduced after the layoffs created challenges that deeply affected team morale and employee retention. Many concerns raised by staff about management style, communication issues, and team support were not meaningfully addressed, even when escalated to higher‑level leadership and HR. As a result, employees continued to resign month after month without any visible effort from the organization to understand or resolve the underlying issues.
Another major concern was the inconsistency in work‑from‑home expectations. When I was hired, I was told I would only need to be in the office once every few months. After the layoffs, office requirements changed frequently, with some employees required to go in multiple times a week. Staffing decisions also impacted office coverage, which in turn placed additional pressure on U.S. representatives and created a risk of audit failures—issues that employees were then held responsible for.
Overall, the environment became increasingly stressful and unpredictable, with little emphasis on employee well‑being or job satisfaction. While the company once offered a great experience, the changes following April 2025 made it difficult to remain motivated or supported.
If you are seeking a stable work‑from‑home role within the CHC waiver/home care space, I recommend doing thorough research and considering whether the current structure at FreedomCare aligns with your expectations.

Typical day is clocking in and beginning the care plan of the day. The patient decides what care is needed, or, assist with obvious needs for the day (ADLs and IADLs.) 
Wide range of duties from administrative tasks to cleaning and shopping for patients. 

The hardest part of the job is the workload tends to be extreme on some days and relentless for your mental health. A stable 40 hours per week can suddenly be dropped to much less if a Medicaid assessment needs to be done. You will receive no warning ahead of time if hours are cut while waiting for prior authorization. You have to communicate with Medicaid to prepare for re-assessments every 1-2 years to prevent hours being lost temporarily. For those who rely on this income to survive, it can cause financial distress for 2-4 weeks.

The best part of the job is seeing the satisfaction from patients who cannot perform their own daily activities without assistance.

I was only there 3 days and could name a few red flags like management, communication, and training. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I was a temp coming in and at first it seemed welcoming. The training was subpar, it was all over the place, communication was minimal, expectations were not met, leadership was distant, no follow up, concerns were not addressed by leadership. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Training was done remotely. Which was great, but the schedule of training was all over the place. The day started at 8am, where no one showed up. Leadership sent a teams message saying good morning after allowing the trainees to wait over 30 minutes to an hour. Training with another health coach and remote job shadowing. Was the majority of the day. No follow up or check ins with  leadership occurred.

While FreedomCare does assist clients in receiving their CHC Waiver, the management team in Pennsylvania appears to lack a clear understanding of the CHC waiver process itself. This creates confusion and frustration for both employees and clients.

Unfortunately, the company culture does not seem supportive. Employee concerns are routinely ignored, and questions are often met with hostility. Rather than addressing issues collaboratively, management has a pattern of responding with warnings or write-ups, which creates a stressful and discouraging work environment.

In a concerning trend, at least 9 employees resigned within a 60-day period—something management did not acknowledge as a red flag. This speaks volumes about the internal culture and the lack of responsiveness to staff well-being.

If you're considering working here, I would urge you to proceed with caution. The stress and lack of support may outweigh the benefits.



I love working for the main office at FreedomCare. I love the CEO and upper management, so warm, friendly, inviting and over all really nice people. The company events are really fun, we have happy hours in the office every month and we celebrate birthday monthly, my supervisor is chill and very understanding and easy going and helpful. They look at each employee on a personal level and tailor to your strengths and really help build on your weaknesses. It is a fast paced environment but I personally prefer that, I am rarely bored at work and if I feel over worked and take it easy there is no one micro-managing me so there is a sense of autonomy that makes me want to bring more to the table. For me personally, this is a great fit all around. I have been working here for 7 months and can see myself staying for a couple of years if not more, even without being promoted which I think I will be after the 1 year mark. I am happy here.

You start off doing 3 weeks training, everyone is very friendly and nice, you think it’s going to be a great work environment and that’s when they move you to teams and the poor work culture and poor management comes in...work politics take place with lots of favoritism and no one really helps you grow in the company. No clarity when you do ask about how to move up, and the policies and processes are always changing everyday. The raises are terrible. And they say they do background checks but they hired a manager who was on house arrest for doing harmful things to children. Later to have never returned because he was charged for the crime. Yet they give these people access to vulnerable patients and caregiver’s information. Freedom care needs to do better. I regret every working for a company like this.. 

I was required to come in each scheduled day at 9 a.m and begin with making breakfast for the client then start cleaning the home for the patient while paying attention to the time so that I can give her the prescribed medicine at the directed time(s). When I would finish with my routine, which would be finished before the time that I was scheduled to leave, I would take a sort n=break before having to run the bath for my client. 
My client was very rude when it came to my personal opinions, issues, and word(s) of advice. 
I learned how to be a better and more experienced caregiver

What is the best part of working at the company?
FREEDOMCARE IS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR WITH A PLETHORA OF FIXINGS AND TRIMMINGS IN BENEFITS THAT OUTWEIGH THE COSTS OF WHAT YOU MAY BE AFFORDED TO DEAL WITH CONSIDERING THE TROUBLE COMES WITH THE ALLOCATION OF DEALING WITH CARE COORDINATORS WHO ARE THE MOST DIFFICULT TO COMMUNICATE TO AND THEY EXPECT FULL DISCLOSURE WHEN GETTING ASSISTANCE AND THEY ARE NOT FAMILIAR IN ANYWAY

Dealing with care coordinators who are far few and in between available

It’s duly self employed so it’s what you make of it

Heaven on earth if heaven only knows

helping the patient start their day

i have learned how to properly take care of my patient also
what methods i have to use in order to make sure our day is running smoothly and understands their needs and wants
 
making sure that the patients doctor appointments are made
also making sure that the care  plan of that patient is being followed as instructed
 
respecting culture and traditions of the patient

the hardest part of the job you never know what your day brings but you learn to work around any tough obstacles you may face

the most enjoyable part about being a caregiver is feeling appreciated 
and being acknowledged for doing your job and building trust between the you and patient and their family

Freedom Care is a great place to work. It's a start up company, so it has it's challenges just like any start up-company, but it's truly an enjoyable place to work. It's a calm work environment, which really allows people to be themselves. There's a high team oriented energy, but there's a great sense independence as well. Management is understanding and always open to listen to new ideas. If you like a fast paced, multitasking, challenging yet gratifying work environment, Freedom Care is the place for you.
