What is the best part of working at the company?
By far, the best things about working at Gauthier is the administrative team! They always show how much they care, appreciate and respect both their employees and in how they make sure to treat all clients ( Senior citizens) with dignity. Some example in how they treat us Caregivers are: by having mandatory luncheon meetings for all staff at really nice restaurants, birthday cards with gift cards, offering us rewards like a $20 gift card for covering extra shifts on short notice which also ensures the client will be covered, and their hard working and very considerate scheduler who is an excellent communicator. 
I really enjoy working at Gauthier as a Caregiver because I love what I do, and I love being a part of a company with such high standards in how they treat people ( both staff and their clients ). Gauthier is the best company I've ever worked for!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working for me personally is when there are differences in what the family of the client wants and what their family members think. When that happens for the me and the clients I serve, I ask the manager of the company to come in as a mediator for them on those occasions by communicating that tension and ask for solutions which they give me on how to behave accordingly.  That can take the burden off me in explaining to a client what the family and client has already communicated. I then explain my role to support the needs of the client and their family by following the guidance of the administration team and my manager. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very considerate, open, and available to openly talk to our coworkers and employer about our needs at work and for the best way to balance work and self care so there isn't a sense of burnout or being afraid to communicate our wants and needs working together for the good of both us and their clients. Caregivers are diverse people from diverse backgrounds but we all have a strong sense of the importance of and satisfaction caring for a person emotionally, physically and as their advocate. We love what we do AND we all appreciate thanks for what we do and how hard we work to care for our clients, specifically in avoiding a sense of burnout or of feeling unappreciated. Oo


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I get a reminder message the day before from the app outlining my schedule of my clients for the next day. The app has Google maps and I put in the address if it's a first time client. I can time it to arrive 10 mins before my shift starts. I log in to the app and clock in through the app as well. Once I arrive I greet the residents and look over the Gauthier binder. It outlines all the chores and ADLs the client and company expect. Throughout the shift I communicate with the client, prepare dinner and also help with some toileting, hygiene, some light housekeeping like cleaning up from meals, making sure the bathroom is sanitized, sweeping floors, and engaging with the clients such as chit chatting and specifically asking how they want things to be done in their home. There are various other chores, some errands, and tasks that the client or their family ask of us. ( Helping with setting up their meds, making sure all their food hasn't expired, and organizing closets). At the last 15 mins of my shift, I tell them that I'll be getting ready to go, I document the shift in the Gauthier binder under the notes section so the next caregiver can be kept up to date. Once I've finished that, I let them know I'm leaving and say good bye, also telling them if and when I would be back. Then before I actually leave the residence, I will record my notes, the ADLs accomplished, and then clock out.

Gauthier Home Care has been a great place to work. When I was transitioning back in to the work force, after being a stay at home mom, Gauthier Home Care didn’t look at my time away from the work force as being strike against me. They looked at all my responsibilities of being a mom and being able to care for my kids and household as a plus. During interview, they explained everything expected of me and talked about training provided. I love how they give you an introduction email about each client, which explains details to make your time with the client a smooth enjoyable process.  Gauthier Home Care are great communicators and are always there if you have questions. They make it easy to juggle home life with work life, so you feel like you are giving both 100%

They care about not only the clients and their families but they also care about their employees.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Still wearing face masks, seems a little redundant.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a very supportive environment and the culture is that everyone works together to create a family among the team. Everyone is accepted.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
To show up at my client and do whatever he needs me to do to help and support him. We get along great.

There were constantly hours/cases to pick up if you were available. I was constantly getting calls to pick up shifts, and sometimes so many it got overwhelming! I only left because of lack of time to actually work for them (had two other jobs at the same time also demanding more of my time). I hated having to leave but I couldn't keep up with the pace I had set! I worked with/for many families who lived in very nice areas of town. 

The owner and office staff are exceptionally kind and treat the staff well. I would go back if the opportunity ever arose.


Perhaps most concerning would be the company's lack of training of simple care taking tasks. They sent me in on my first morning with NO formal training or discussions of any expectations.  The worst in-home nursing care company might engage in price gouging, taking advantage of the urgent and emotional nature of the services they provide.

Very easy to work for they place me with clients I get enough hours if I ever need time off or leave work early they are so good about finding replacements I love working for Gauthier

Nothing really they have met my needs

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very relaxed and layed back I love it

The Management Team makes Gauthier an great place to work!
My work hours are scheduled around my home life hours and we generally know our scheduled for the month.  Having two kids home  makes it ideal !  There are shorter shifts and longer ones usually available, which is really nice.
I have learned a lot about "life" working with our clientele.
I also feel valued as an employee

This was an amazing company to work for. The office staff are all very approachable. There aren't as many strict policies for employees such as amount of days you can take off. I think this gives the caregivers the ability to take time off as needed and avoid the dreaded burnout. I would have gladly stayed with this company if I did not need to move to the other side of the state.

I work as a caregiver for Gauthier. I have been with the company for maybe 17 months now. I find the office people to be very easy to work with and accommodating which makes this a perfect part time job for me. I am able to work the days and hours that I am available with the client load I need. 

Gauthier Family Home Care has gone above and beyond to make me feel appreciated. They are understanding when I can't pick up a shift and extremely grateful when I can. I haven't had a single bad experience. The office staff does their best to connect caregivers with clients that they fit best with.
