The company does have above average benefits for full time employees but it’s very hard to get full time positions coming in as an entry level person.  There seems to be a lot of favoritism and only certain people move up or get recognition, despite others doing just as well at their jobs.   The contract nature of the business can leave some individuals sort of “stuck” on a bad contract that may be mismanaged or under quoted leaving you scrambling to keep your head above water, and leaving you guilty by association when the project isn’t doing well, even if you are pulling more than your weight. I was there for near 5 years and only got 1 meaningful raise when I went full time. More is expected of you than is in your job description no matter what role you fill (unless you’re in sales and then you get a free pass for everything, the under and mis-quoted contracts were rampant, the weight often fell on the shoulders of the technicians to pull off “miracles” as the managers regularly called them). 

It was a really good entry job, I learned a lot in my year there. I could repair a unit in my sleep. The job was really stressful because again I could repair a unit in my sleep. I was dreaming about work even when I wasn’t at work. The leads and management required you to fix and test over 25 units a day to get a better raise & it was almost impossible on most days because some computers will give you a hard time. We were required to work overtime even when it wasn’t part of the 8hr job description. I was working 12hr - 16hr shifts on most days because we had to push these units out. I hardly saw daylight, Only on Sundays because overtime were required on Saturdays too. The good thing is you couldn’t pass 60hr week so if you were at 60hr you didn’t have to come in unless you had approval. They hated when you took time off. You were only required 3 days off totally & had to get approval if you needed more days. Got written up if you missed days even for emergencies & after calling in. Apart for the strict work environment  you are guaranteed to learn your products and will absolutely leave with a head full of knowledge. Great entry job.

Ask for the full training program.  If they try to shorten it for you, take them up on their offer for an extended training.  

There is not a dependable knowledge base to assist with ticket procedures.  I asked for this multiple times. Management expects you to look up and emulate tickets from other employees.  (Most of which are no longer on the team.) Experience in call centers wont save you on this.  (I have a computer science degree and ample customer service experience.)


I worked for *GTS Technology Solutions* for less than a week as a contractor. I was promised half a of year of work, full-time, benefits, possibility to transition to GTS as a full-time employee and everything else. I was also promised a crew working with me who were going to be my brothers and sisters. During the interview process upper management sounded like a dream to work for, they were all smiles and rainbows. Then when it came time to work after the first day of training, and as I was helping my team, I was told, I was let go, no explanation other than "you're not a good fit" 

Mind you, I turned down Other job offers for at least 6 months based on this promise. There were no write-ups, no detailed explanation why I wasn't a good fit. Just somehow, some way I rubbed someone the wrong way and they don't care if they break promises, you are treated like yesterday's garbage.

During this pandemic, now is not the time to treat your employees this way, even if they are just contractors.

The company leadership is full of salespeople that are really good at making you feel this is a good company. They will wow you with employee benefits, amazing 401K matches, and team building. They will kill you with kindness while they need you. If you don't prescribe to GTS first, your family last.... they will fire you. Working with the leadership is like herding children. No interest in self-improving or improving business processes. The PMO had major financial issues funding several projects. You will not find longevity; you will run straight into a revolving door. As a PM you are only involved in the execution phases. Any mistakes made during the walk-through planning (if any), procurement or business development phases are YOURS to deal with. Profitable projects are below the average for this industry (less than 30%). There will be no chance that you make any project bonuses due to the internal organization and non-existent framework.

GTS Technology Solutions was a positive place to grow professionally. I had the opportunity to develop my technical skills, take on additional responsibility, support team workflows, and work with people who were helpful and collaborative. Management was supportive, and the team culture was one of the strongest parts of the job.

The main area I would like to see improved is compensation growth. In my experience, raises and advancement in pay did not always keep pace with added responsibilities or performance. Overall, I am grateful for the experience and the opportunities I had there, but clearer paths for raises and career progression would make the company stronger.

Growth opportunities in tech are limited for women even though the company is owned and managed by them. Learn what you can but have a plan for upskilling that doesn't rely on your day-to-day experiences or education reimbursement. The IT world is constantly changing and working here will not expose you to emerging technology nor will it afford you the opportunity to grow in your area of expertise. You will be required to do a lot of things that would be classified under an entirely different job title. Put it all on your resume. Raises are no longer annual. Unfortunately, there's a revolving door with management and the company has a hard time keeping valuable employees. This is a decent starting place for an IT career but don't get stuck here. 

I pride myself in my work ethic and i try to be part of the company, but they reward good work with more work. In order to change positions or pay, you have to occupy a crucial role and threaten to quit. The phrase "the company will not care if you die" is one hundred percent true at this company. Also the amount of trash this company produces is astronomical. Job sites can be over an hour away and you will not be paid for inner city travel, for example if you live east of dallas and have a job in fort worth, you will add an extra 10-15 hours a week of unpaid time.

GTS cares about their employees and what their employees care about.  Giving through service events and supporting employees in their career growth are constant themes among the managers.  Being able to provide creative solutions to challenges and quickly resolve problems are encouraged and celebrated.  
Staff are encouraged to follow their interests within the company and supported in those efforts.  GTS invests in their people and in their clients and loves to be a part of their success stories.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Contract work allows for flexibility and time off in between projects.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not being a true member of the team.

Different companies have different environments. Having experience in several cultures made it easier to adjust to the current scenario.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get in and attack the projects on hand. Ask for things to do if not busy.
