The other review posts in this forum are absolutely ridiculous. To excel and enjoy your work experience at Geriscript, all you need is to actually have a work ethic and perform your job well. The negativity directed at the company and at management could only be from those who were not doing their jobs to the rigor they signed up for upon on-boarding. 

Geriscript was one of my first jobs in the healthcare industry, and I was there for multiple years (approximately 6). The interview process was very smooth (in-person interview, followed by a  background check). I got advanced to different positions as I progressed in my knowledge of the job's procedures. Myself and a few other people I worked with were even able to keep our positions and have flexible schedules while attending college full-time, and this extremely generous flexibility is something that I have NOT experienced anywhere else. In both departments I was involved with, it was not hard to pick up on the tasks (as long as you pay attention and ask questions during the training period) and supervision was available to answer questions so I was comfortable in the tasks I was performing.

Management simply wants employees to perform their jobs efficiently and well. In doing just that, it was pretty easy for me to become a valuable asset in their eyes. I received pay increases because of my performance, and was able to use my knowledge gained at Geriscript to further my career in the pharmaceutical industry. 

If Geriscript has any issues right now it is the fact that their business has BOOMED in the past few years, very quickly, making them one of the most prominent long term care pharmacies for NJ. This has led to a sometimes hectic workplace environment (but when you think about it: job security, so is this really even an "issue"?). This is no different in any other healthcare career forum. 

Long story short, you're signing up for a fast-paced workplace that offers full benefits, plenty of PTO, and a direct experience into the healthcare field. I speak for myself and numerous others when I say that Geriscript is a great company to work for if you are willing to actually put effort into your position. 

I'll try to present this in an un-bias manner. Keep in mind I've got a few years of upper management at other companies under my belt. I'll give a few key points and expand on them.

The management team here has absolutely no idea what they are doing. The current owner lives across the country, maybe stops in once a year. The only thing she knows about the company is what the upper management team communicates to her via phone. This creates an extremely toxic environment because every action the upper management team takes is just to cover themselves with the owner. In my year spent here they've hired 3 different people who I know to be fall guys. They offer inexperienced people weighty positions intentionally so they can pin blame on someone other than themselves. And then they fire them without much explanation.

The upper management team doesn't care to check on the status of changes they enact. The pharmacy is expanding rapidly and structure changes are unavoidable, but the managers just blindly make choices and major decisions in an attempt to resolve issues. Then they never follow up to see if it worked or not. And mind you, both of the main players in the management team, the ones making these decisions, come from irrelevant industries, so majority of their changes just over complicate the work for all employees involved, and create more issues than they solve. And without ironing out the kinks they create, they go ahead and change another major thing. Rinse and repeat.

The staff is underpaid. Nobody here (except a few of the senior pharmacists) is satisfied with their income. They pay well below what other pharmacies with the same workload pay. And it shows in quality of workers and the level of happiness in the workplace. The few great workers that they manage to hire are abused until they quit. They will continue to pile more responsibility on them, promising them advancement that never comes, until they quit. I've seen it happen to a few really good people.

If the clients only knew. I'm not quite sure how they swindle clients into using them as their primary pharmacy. There is a lot I can say about this, but to protect myself I won't go further. Just know that the pharmacy is very afraid of inspections.

I can go on forever about why this is a horrible place, but I'm tired of wasting time on this company. Just, if you have any sense, stay away.

I have worked for this company for serval years. Every Place has its up and downs. I believe you need experience things yourself before making any decisions. What made me happy about working at Geriscript may not be what someone else is looking for in a requirement on their personal list. I enjoyed the work; the main responsibilities of my job were the same at the base but everything was different also because the patient’s were different, having small conversations with my colleagues next to me, the dress code was laid back, certain holidays or times of the year the company did things for their employees. For example a pizza day, breakfast(bagels), pajamas day, you got to dress up for Halloween, Christmas ugly sweater day. Can it be fast paced sometimes- yes, can you get stressed out sometimes days-yes. But that was usually after coming back from a holiday weekend, someone was on vacation or sick so you needed to cover the work load and when they start a New Facility/ New Project. Overall I was happy with my experience, things may had changed a little when Covid hit.. but I think with more time they may get back there again.

Due to GeriScript being an institutional pharmacy, it is a fast paced workplace. The company is diverse with an abundance of cultures and personalities which makes working there enjoyable. The different departments inside this one company gives you the opportunity to learn about the different positions that the company provides (certain areas require official pharmaceutical licensing). A typical day at work can be unpredictable due to manufactural changes, stat deliveries, and a variety of factors that will keep you moving. There are times throughout the day where workflow slows down, but it is still unpredictable. I don't consider there being any "hard" parts of the job if you ask questions and pace yourself correctly. The management is extremely personable and easy going as long as you display a strong will to work, as well as being adequate/efficient. I highly recommend having means of transportation if you do not live in the area.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My colleagues are wonderful, the commute is reasonable, and the shift rarely exceeds the hours that are scheduled.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is a lack of clear communication from the management which can be distant, unprofessional, and disrespectful to the employees at times.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is “come in, get your work done, and leave”. Despite this, I find that many of my colleagues are still kind and sociable. They also dock your time. If you don’t take your full 30-minute unpaid break, they dock you for the 30 minutes, and if you come in early to work, you only start getting paid from the time that your shift begins.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I come in, immediately sit down and start working, take my break at the scheduled time so that I don’t get into any trouble, go where I’m told to go if the priorities change, then leave as soon as the work is finished.

Working here has been one of the most frustrating professional experiences I’ve ever had. The management team consistently demonstrates poor leadership, lack of accountability, and an unwillingness to support their employees. Communication is disorganized, decisions are made without transparency, and constructive feedback is either ignored or met with hostility. There’s a pervasive culture of favoritism, and promotions seem based more on personal connections than merit or performance. Morale is incredibly low, and turnover is high—unsurprisingly, given how little value is placed on employee well-being. The work environment feels toxic, with unrealistic expectations and little recognition for hard work. If you're looking for a place that fosters growth, collaboration, or even basic respect, this is not it. I would strongly advise others to think twice before accepting a position here. It’s easily one of the worst places I’ve worked, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking a healthy career path.

A typical work day is emails, phone calls and billing claims all day long from when you clock in to when you clock out. 

I learned to be self sufficient, work well under pressure and micromanagement. Along with a lot of pharmacy billing and patient intake material.  

Management micromanages, calls their staff “stupid & idiots” when they make mistakes. And takes it personal when you call out. 

The hardest part of this job is dealing with the miserable people that work there. The job in itself is a rewarding experience, you’re doing your best to help patients with medications they NEED.

The most enjoyable part is your 15 min break away from the office when the food truck comes and your 30 minute lunch break. Another enjoyable part is all the information you learn and the PTO you can acquire over some time. 

Worst work experience. The favoritism in this place is out of control. The people are miserable and rude within each department. It doesn't matter what you do or how much work you put in, if you are not a favorite of your manager, nothing will happen for you. The petty gossip from certain employees is unbearable, it's like a high school environment. HR doesn't care about any concerns you may have. I would say that there were only a few people who were friendly (from a different department, definitely no one in my own) that made coming to this miserable place bearable. Fake positivity from supervisors, no room for growth, no 401k plan, clowns in charge. They will make you feel like you aren't doing enough. If you are one of the people that can succeed here, you need to do a lot of sucking up to the right people. 

Worked here for nearly 3 years. It was pretty relaxed formerly but definitely focused more on metrics later. Turnover is very high for pharmacists and technicians. Pretty busy pharmacy but don't have to deal with patients (you will speak with nurses instead, which are better). Training is not great; there isn't a Standard Operating Procedure and management expects you to know things that you weren't taught. You may be written up for this. The middle management is alright and they try to make things run smoothly. But upper management doesn't care about you and no one knows what they are thinking. Pay was poor and you will need to ask for raises (not automatic). There was no 401k at the time but I believe they added that now. 

I worked there for about 7 months training was poor I trained for about 3 days then they throw you in not to mention I wasn’t trained in all the queues by the time I quit , the data entry manager is horrible she won’t acknowledge you unless you’ve worked there for years no communication whatsoever worst manager I’ve had in my 9 years of pharmacy your are just a body there to get refills done pretty much don’t ask for a personal days the manager won’t give it to you! They won’t pay you for holidays and the place is just a depressing place to work at co workers at not friendly at all the lead techs are the only helpful ones just do your self a favor do not work here unless you are desperate!!!
