What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This company offers great opportunities for growth and has a flexible approach towards its staff, provided they are valued. However, there is room for improvement in terms of diversity and inclusivity. Currently, the company operates as a small vulnerable organization within the healthcare industry. While it may not have a wide range of backgrounds represented in its workforce, there is great potential for positive change. By fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, the company can tap into the creativity and unique perspectives of staff from different backgrounds. Building a strong foundation of inclusivity will not only enhance employee satisfaction but also contribute to the overall success of the organization.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Extremely busy and lots of work to keep you so busy the day goes by fast

I haven’t worked here in 2 years, from what I gathered things have not changed however. This company values patient volume over safety, staff well being, and what is moral and ethical. At the time I worked there the model was: see as many patients as we tell you and don’t even think about insisting on continuity or a patient panel. Provider concerns were never listened to. I was frequently chided, micromanaged, and made to feel like a child, often in retaliation for making it clear I wasn’t happy with how things were going. I eventually had to leave for my own health. There are so many other places to work at, please don’t subject yourself to the abuse you will receive at this company.  Bear in mind as well: this place is heavily subsidized by the state of California and the federal government. Why do they need to maximize billable visits the way they do, with utter disregard to safety and quality? Where is the money going? Definitely not into hiring more support staff, or allowing providers to adjust their schedules so they aren’t so overwhelmed.

The organization provided many avenues of opportunity to be part of the work place culture and the community they serve. It gives employees a sense of purpose in and out of work.

Depending on your manager or supervisor, you may have an easy time venturing into new areas and learning many things. Other times, you might not be encouraged to do different things. It would take someone with initiate and a heart for service, purpose, change, and improvement to move up the ladder. 

Also depending on the time and location, there may be requests asked of you that may not have been within scope of your agreement. But once again, these are opportunities for you to expand and explore or you can choose not to. For the most part, opportunities for rising to the top is also dependent on your initiative to learn, meet new people, build relationships, and continue to be curious. The support from the teams that I have been in are between hot and warm. Never, for me, has it been ice cold, where no one showed support.

The hardest part of the job is that it is very production focused, so that incentives for increased compensation are based on how many patients one see. Thus, the more patients a provider treats, the more cash bonus one receives. However, most providers are dedicated to the patients and community that they serve. The community in turn are very protective of the providers. It benefits everyone. It is a decentralized system in that each clinic function on its own, but ran by the corporate office, administration located in the head office at Merced, CA. Great way to learn if one is in the big clinics, however, independence is important in the outlying clinics where you may be the only provider to see all patients. There is team work in the bigger clinics and co-workers seems to all get along.

Worst Employer Ever! This organizatiton is a joke, made up positions in order to have a higher paying jobs. Everyone in Finance reeps the benefit of the hard earned work of the organization. The financials are completely "cooked" what is presented to the government for the budgeted dollars is a complete lie. Can't wait until this catches up with these "cheats and steals". Director of Financial Analysis, Financial Analyst, are the worst! Let's not forget that the organization is still attempting to dig themselves out of the biggest IT hole for purchasing systems/equiptment blindly and lying on grant reporting. Anyway, if it doesn't bother you to work for an organization that does not care AT ALL about the health of the community and only want's to collect a higher salary and make up "new" roles to do so, while the "little" people are left with a higher responsibility and smaller wages, then you have found the perfect employer.

This company has many inconsistencies and contradictions within their implementation of HR policies and procedures. Outside of HR, the organization has a great vision for what is needed for them to contribute support to the community. They pay really well, however it was extremely challenging working with members of the founding family of the organization. One in particular has an overwhelming external sense of entitlement, and is completely insensitive to anyone that is not in upper management, or to anyone that she sees as below her. In addition, after the retirement of their CEO, the company has struggled to redefine it's identity.

Working at GVHC gave you no room for advancement. Switching departments were also hard. Lots of work for little pay. Supervisors play favoritism. Co workers are drama. Keep to your self if you want to work here. These people will throw you under a train to kiss butt and be a supervisor’s pet. Doesn’t matter if you have been there for years, seniority does not matter and they'll offer a raise for someone whose only been there a few years with no knowledge of all aspects of the department to be a “certified trainer”. Supervisor’s will pick on you when they're mad at you for calling out sick. If you just need a job and dont care then this is the place for you. If you care about your self worth and mental health than this place will make you wanna quit after a month. 

Its rare that you find a company that pays well, has a developed management staff, and encouraged learning opportunities. All management educated in their role with leadership encouraging continued development while creating a happy work / life balance - coupled with education to develop skills for better patient service experience.

All directors and management available to assist, and willing to hear how processes can improve. Excellent company - so happy to be a part of such a forward thinking organization!

I love the fact that I am able to serve the community of Turlock,  To be given the opportunity of a great position to be able to serve the people that are in need of continuity of care. Most of all to encourage patient's and give them as much information about there diagnosis. As a team we care, appreciate our patients and we try to empower them to get involved in their care and to be able to teach their family members to take care of their health. We ask questions before they leave the office to make sure that all of their questions were answered. We have the ability to help people's lives by communicating and having a relationship with our patient's.

Do not work at this company especially the Modesto Tully location it’s a chaotic and stressful environment. The supervisor has favorites and it’s VERY OBVIOUS, always short staff, no breaks. The favoritism is real and those employees never get in trouble no matter how much you complain about lazy and careless staff members. The supervisor would rather see you struggle being short staff than help out on the floor. Management is unfair and they are constantly sending you to help other sites rather than having our own site staffed and prepared for the day.
